Well actually, at the start of the game, when you have 2 blanks and 1 live, even though it initially makes more sense to shoot yourself, it is ALWAYS better to shoot the Dealer than to shoot yourself. Here's a breakdown: If you shot yourself first, there'd be a 1/3 chance for you to get shot, and if that shot was a blank, it'd be a 50/50 chance on whether you get shot or not. But if you shot the Dealer first, there'd be a 1/3 chance for the Dealer to get shot, and if that shot was a blank, it'd still only be a 50/50 on whether you get shot or not. And since the Dealer doesn't know the order of the shells, and the fact that it is always your turn at the end of a round, shooting the Dealer is just flat out better.
