I enjoyed your video and will be tying up this pattern. I almost never carry weighted flys with me, it is just as easy to add a bit if needed. Only criticism I have is you did not counter wrap your ribbing. But, I have done that myself at times. otherwise great looking fly.
Rich I don't know which I enjoy more, your knowledge or how and what you tie. Thanks for both! I haven't tied in a while but when I did it occupied most of my free time when I wasn't fishing or hunting (work eat sleep is a necessity ;o) Everything you just did is more or less how I learned to tie from reading books and magazines, but with your cool tweeks That nymph is super, dubbing the head was awesome, so was flattening the bug. I have to try that dubbing, I've known about it for years too. I've used black open cell foam for the wingcase after reading Fran Betters book. I'm partial to nymphs but I'll watch whatever you post, there's always room to learn. BTW, there was a mayfly dun on my East facing window screen this morning. It may have been a Hendrickson, mid May is their time in central NY. Thanks, stay healthy.
Gordon Perkins thank you I’ll be sure to personalize it for you. I’m not a guy to really put myself out there as well as others do, hoping to change that here in the not so distant future.
@@RichStrolis Well, I appreciate the information you shared in the video and really appreciate fly tying videos that are ahead of an upcoming hatch that we can prepare for.
Is the dubbing you used to tie this fly available online ? I'm from the finger lakes region of NY and Hendrickson's are the first flies to come off on the Cohocton and trying to find a good dubbing that matches the body is tough. Years ago I bought a dubbing dispenser that had Hendrickson pink in it, it was to pink for my liking and when it was wet it still didn't look like the right color. And I never caught fish on those flies with that dubbing.
Donny L. Thank you, but if you’re all about catching “more” then nymphs would be a logical choice. But I would say over the course of the 35 years that I’ve been flyfishing I still catch my largest fish most consistently day in and day out on streamers. Beauty of fly fishing for trout is you have many mediums by which you can fool them, only you can determine how you do so by what you tie to the end of your line. Enjoy your day!
This vidio explains the answers watching the soft hackle first questions i had

The tying starts at 5:20.
Absolutely with the streamers, they are my preference & more enjoyable to catch that way, appreciate all your contributions.

Great vid, great nymph! The counter-wrap subtitle cracked me up
pro trick : you can watch series on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Maximus Westley definitely, been using flixzone for years myself :)
Awesome bug Rich. That thing could be fished well after the Hendrickson nymph hatch and still catch. I like it.
Real fishermen tie streamers AND nymphs 🤓😆 keep ‘em comin! Thanks
Thanks for this! Love it. Would you have any Hendrickson emerger patterns you would like to tie and share as well?
Gordon Perkins you bet. There’s one in my book that I’ll put to video soon
@@RichStrolis I guess i didn't realize you had a fly book. I just ordered it from your website. Looking forward to it.

Look up the Delaware River Club on the Internet they produce and sell it
@@RichStrolis Awesome thanks brotha. Keep the videos coming. 👍
This years Bears Den mug, nice.
Nice looking fly, thanks, caught more fish on the Farmington with nymphs than streamers, just sayin.

"One trick pony." What? You have a fish feeding in a shallow, slower current and you don't want to drop a "battleship's anchor" on him?
There’s a book? How do I get a copy?

No hate from me! Bug away!
