A fully synthetic, matte finish variation of my popular Headbanger Sculpin. This variation utilizes some new materials by MFC and Aaron Letera that creates a minimal flash pattern with some nice color variegation as a result of the materials.

Mini Alter Ego
Просмотров 956Год назад
In this video I demonstrate how to tie a mini version of my Alter Ego streamer. This particular version is most conducive to many trout anglers and one that has a very broad scope of applications. They key in this video demonstration hits on how to scale down the proportions to make a proper variation of an already productive pattern.
Trigger Caddis
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
In this video we tie an unconventional caddis pattern that uses EP Trigger Point fibers in the wing. The flies construction is rather simple which is an attribute that is often overlooked in many of todays creations. Give the fish what they want, just make sure the proportions, size and color are correct. These are yet just another way to imitate an adult caddisfly in hopes of fooling the trout...

Alder Wet Fly

In this video we tie the Alder Wet Fly, which is a winged wet fly in the traditional sense. A very simple 4 material pattern that is a great representation for caddis emergences. There are a couple of nifty little tricks in the video to help you while tying with the materials used. Couple things to note, first the manner in which I tie in the hen feather used. Clearly depicts that you can tie t...

In this video you learn the tying sequence for the feather tail jig. This type of pattern is not only quick to tie, but a highly effective baitfish imitation that can be fished in a multitude of disciplines; both with a fly rod and on conventional tackle. Have fun experimenting with color schemes and sizes. If you do not tie you can purchase these flies from me here: catching-shadows.mybigcomme...

The Rock Candy Larva pattern was a highly productive and very easy pattern that gained popularity when I spun these up well over a decade ago. Over time one of the main ingredients was removed from production. In this tying demonstration I give the viewers an alternative material to use to complete the pattern. Enjoy the video

Micro Headbanger sculpin
Просмотров 7 тыс.3 года назад
In this tying sequence, I demonstrate how to tie the smallest of the Headbanger Sculpin series; the micro headbanger. A relatively easy pattern recipe, but highly effective fly and one that even the most novice streamer fisherman can have confidence in casting and fishing. The color combinations are rather broad, but here I tie it in one of my favorite color schemes especially for the this part...

basements are generally a cool place to tie flies bud. Good to see ya. Ken from Calgary Alberta ,Canada. Hay I look forward to all your videos.Rick so you have at least one viewer.😉I don't mind passing on a tip I learned on how to dry off CDC when your on the water. "Attach a sm. thin (1/8 " wide) rubber band to your vest .When your CDC gets wet/and it will, open the attached rubber band open ,put the hook end into the opening and pull the tipit (fly line) tightish. Then twang the elastic a couple of time (3-6) and unattached the hook ,blow on it and it's good to go. This really works well. I have a bunch of elastic in my vest. TIGHT LINES.

    • @RichStrolis

For all the articulated versions yes, they were primarily designed for that fly as I used to spin the brushes out of various colors of ice dubbing. You can use the same size brush on the singles as well but once you go smaller than a size 4 the smaller brushes are a better fit.
