As a fellow Islander and Giants fan, i have to disagree. This couldn’t have happened at a worse time. Once the hype and hoopla settles down, the Giants are still going to need a franchise quarterback. Winning a few games and having some cute memes to post on social media is not good for this team in the grand scheme.
The story of a local boy succeeding is great, but he is playing good football! No turnovers, feeds all the receivers, gets rid of the ball quickly and is decisive on his throws! Go get em Tommy Cutlets!!!
TOMMY CUTLETS! 🤌🤌🤌 After what felt like a lost season since that brutal Week 1 blowout, the Giants are FUN to watch again. Win or lose, this kid is playing with heart and grit, and it's great to see the team and the fans embrace him like they have. It ain't about next year's draft. We're not even thinking about that right now. There's no tanking or giving up with this team. This is a great story and it's turning out to be a hell of a ride.
@@HendersonHinchfinch current players on the team are playing for their NFL careers. Why would they concern themselves with losing so the team can draft somebody else to take their job?
Once in a lifetime opportunity for Devito. I’m rooting for the kid. Hopefully he bare minimum earns the back up spot next year. I personally think he’s playing better than Jones this year. Ball is out quicker and he’s throwing it further down field
It doesn't get any more AMERICAN than Tommy Devito AND his hard working FAMILY. It's a beautiful and wonderful thing to see. They have given the Giants and their fans back something that has been sadly lost...HEART. But then again people...that's NEW YORK! :)
Joe Pesci’s character name in Goodfellas was Tommy DeVito. And Pesci himself introduced a singer to Frankie Valli and that singer became a member of the 4 Seasons. The singer’s name? Tommy DeVito!

With all the talk about unsung backups stepping up on the big stage, particularly this story about Tommy DeVito, Jeff Hostetler shouldn't be forgotten. Coming out of nowhere to lead the team to the promised land. And wearing the same number.
Jeff Rutledge was the number 2 QB for three years, and Hoss was #3, until that year, when Rutledge went to the Skins as a free agent. I always wonder what would have been.
I don't know what's gonna happen, but I am 10000% rooting for this kid to keep succeeding and earn his place in the NFL long-term, with a nice contract to boot. He deserves it. This kid despite being an undrafted 3rd stringer who got paid like $20,000 to fill out the GIant's depth chart... came in, and under an incredibly bright spotlight he's led this team to 3 straight wins, and he's done it with zero turnovers/ints. Now the competition hasn't been anything special but this is the NFL. You have to battle every week to get a win, it's not easy, even against teams not playing well. We just saw the Dolphins get upset by the Titans too. When I watch Tommy Devito play, I see a kid who's deficiencies come as a result of simply not having the requisite experience and reps. Beyond that, I see a guy who is very decisive with his decision making. He doesn't force passes into tight coverage. He's not turning the ball over. He's getting better about escaping pressure and not taking a sack with every week. He has been sacked a ton, in large part due to the terrible o-line the Giants have outside of Andrews... but I think the numbers have been going down each game he's played. He didn't take a single sack last night and rushed for 70+ yards, had multiple big plays rushing that setup the Giants to put points on the board. He doesn't have a crazy strong arm but he throws a good ball with good accuracy on most of his throws, he only had 4 incompletions last night. He can throw on the run, as shown by the TD pass to Hodgins that had to be fit into the tiniest window in order to not be swatted or potentially picked. And the thing I notice most? The confidence. The calmness. For a kid that is on his 4th ever NFL start, with all his family in attendance and the city of NY watching every move he makes. To have his first game winning drive... He didn't go out there and immediately force the ball down field into coverage looking for some big shot play. He took his check downs, took what the defense gave him, in the hopes the defense would play underneath more so he could setup a chunk play and get them into FG range. Which is exactly what happened. He rifles that ball to robinson on an out route and he put it on him in a way that would let him run after catch and not go out of bounds immediately. I love what this kid is doing for the Giants and New York football in general. I think the Giants need to find a way to move on from Daniel Jones. He's not going to take this team to the promised land, and his ridiculous contract of $160+ million dollars is going to absolutely hamstring their cap room going forward into the final years of his contract. There's loads of teams out there who need a QB, I'd try to deal him however I could, then look to take a QB in the 1st round this year. This is a stacked draft class in terms of QBs. It's the perfect time to do it. Keep DeVito on the roster as the #2 guy and give him a shot to fight for the starting spot in the offseason. He's earned it. He's turned this team around and lit a spark during this otherwise dreadful season. He's got Giants fans excited again, as they should be... because there's A LOT of young talent on this roster that's on the come up. Giants defense looks stout as hell when they fire on all cylinders. Thibodeaux, Okereke, Banks, Jackson, Ojulari, Lawrence... I mean come on. These are all studs.
its insane how much improvement he's shown each week and how you can see the coaches trusting him more and more. He was really impressive last night. The TD to Hodgins was a legit QB play. Insane that he didnt take a sack or even come close to throwing an INT. im having so much fun watching the DeVito giants
Like I mentioned, many want to just paint him as a backup because where he was drafted. If he was a 3rd round pick, the talk would be different. I say the kid definitely deserves the opportunity to become a starter. He exhibits a lot of solid traits. His pocket awareness at this level is great. Reads the defense well and makes nice quick decisions. He throws a very good and catchable ball. I would definitely give him a shot. We want to see consistency, and if he does that. He deserves to be a starter.

As a life-long Giants fan and Syracuse alumni, last year was the most fun I've had watching football in YEARS. Every game came down to the wire, and they ground out wins by playing smart, tough and creatively. Most Giants fans knew they would take a step back this year, but we didn't know the coaching staff would completely lose their creativity AND common sense, and that Daniel Jones would completely lose his confidence before succumbing to injury. It was truly the most pathetic play I've seen through half a season. Then Tyrod gave us a spark and some confidence. And now, Tommy has once again made football fun for me again. Congrats to the kid! He's brought back the joy of the game for his fellow players and the fans.

Growing up in Jersey as a lifelong fan of the Giants I can relate. Most of my family are Italian immigrants and I laterally can so relate ! Jersey is proud of him!
Moment's you'll never forget the rest of your life!!!! Enjoy your football playing every second..You will sit back on day when your my age 64 and talk with the guys about all the plays you made together and smile......good luck kid I hope everything comes to you and you finish the dreams you had as a kid playing for your favorite team and if your lucky enough just lucky enough you will hold up big trophy one day..... And if that does happen remember I wrote this to you and get one of mamma's cutlets for me...lol
Coming from an Italian myself. I can clearly say I am so proud of what Tommy has done. & being a Giants fan for a long time. Make the kid the qb1. Jones has been ruined by many different coaches & too many bad habits. His neck & now his acl. Have to put that in the mix now that Tommy is winning. The hype will be real if we beat the Eagles Lets Go Big Blue 💙
My first thoughts on Tommy Devito's agent, Sean P. Stellato, was that he reminded me of Bobby Caldwell who sang "What You Won't Do For Love". The suit and hat he wore to last nights game reminded me of that music video...
The Giants are blessed this year. They have the Ghost of former Giants coach Vince Lombardi helping Tommy Devito learn the ropes, and the Ghost of Jimmy Hoffa finally made his way over from the old stadium to help shore up the defense. This is the kind of chicanery that historically results in Rings for the G-Men.
I’m loving this. DeVito saving a disaster of a season. What ever happens the next 4 games THANK YOU TOMMY GOOD LUCK from a former Jersey City boy now living in California.
I'm from Brooklyn NY it's great to see my boy Tommy d get are giants back on top and your guy gots the hot hand you ride that horse till the end and he get us playoffs wins and some super bowls wins then he's are guy build around him
Why are you sold on Devito ? He's beat Washington, NE and Green Bay. The last two barely and didn't put up amazing stats to boot. Next 4 games Saints, Philadelphia, L.A Rams and Philadelphia again.....what if he goes 0-4 with a stat line of 2 TDs - 6 INTs - 2 fumbles in those 4 games ? You still going to be sold on Devito because he beat 2 bad teams and a mediocre team at home on a last second field goal ? I'll get back to you in a month for an update. But if you're "sold" on him based on the last 3 games....I've got a bunch of stuff to sell you. 😆
I would NEVER turn on and watch the Giants, but I did Monday night because it was the only thing on. How lucky was I? Caught the 3rd & 4th quarters. What an awesome game. Love this guy Devito and I'm a SOL Lions fan. Since the Lions have thrown it away this year, I'm all in on Devito and the Giants. Never would've imagined.
Forst thing I thought of was Michael's bodyguard in. GODFATHER. Was standing behind the curtains in Hymen Roth's room in that great scene. Curtains blowing as he creeps behind them!!!! Awesome!!!!!
My dream is to see this kid coming out to MetLife while the Sopranos theme is blaring in the screen and speakers. That would top Rodgers coming out with the American flag.
This has to be one of the most competitive/ level-playing-field type of seasons of my lifetime(I'm 29). I can't imagine many people expected the Giants OR Titans to win yesterday and they both pulled off upsets. There are just a bunch of names getting their shot at QB with all the injuries/retirements. Only a small handful of teams are out of the playoff race with only 4 weeks left, should make for some good football!
When you see Brock Purdy and this guy play shows you don’t have to draft a quarterback in the first round…GMs just need to do your homework with finding a guy who can fit their coaches’ system.
Jake Browning too. Hell, even the veterans are moved on from too quickly now. Look at Flacco. Every team wants to rely on their 1st round showpony saving the day now.
Been saying that for decades. I've seen so many teams waste a top 10 pick on a QB and most of them don't even become that star. Even seeing the Niners waste their draft picks to get Lance to ultimately watch Purdy ship him out of there is a reason why to use your top picks on who's the best talent who fits your needs and not focus on getting a QB because you're so high on the draft board.
And I can't overemphasize how terrible the weather was in that Jets game. They still should have let him throw, but those were absolutely miserable conditions.
As an Irish Jersey girl who married an Italian Jersey guy. He’s a retired Physician and I’m a retired Nurse & yes our son lives with us know exactly what you speak about. People always make fun of Jersey and the mob ( although I did grow up in a town with big mob presences) & believe me it was a very safe town). I get everything you said. We were laughing so hard during the game last night and usually don’t root for the Giants. Husband is GreenBay fan and I was a Patriot & Bucs fan because I followed Brady’s career but we all couldn’t help smiling and being happy for that family because you’re right Rich, it was all so familiar. We knew so many families like them. Good luck to them for I couldn’t help but see the pride in the family and the most wonderful part of it was he wasn’t embarrassed by his family and they couldn’t contain their pride for their son. It was so nice to see that loving family live out their dream. 😊😊😂❤❤
Crazy imagine being this kid. Graduated from Syracuse, gets picked up by the hometown Giants. Decides to live with his parents cause it's real close. Dude is NYC personified.
Rich misspoke, Tommy actually went to Illinois. Wrong orange school 😂. But yeah he is north Jersey born and bread. I love it when kids get to play for their childhood teams.
fans are disappointed that the giants didn't get a top 5 pick. but remember some of the greatest qbs in the history of the nfl were not top 5 picks. hurts, mahomes, purdy, brady, montana etc. devito has one thing jones doesn't have. confidence. and the team feeds off that. go tommy go.
I agree but don't discount all the #1 overall or top 15 picks either.... #1 pick QBs: Manning, Aikman, Newton, Burrow, Elway, Bledsoe, Vick, Luck, Palmer, Stafford, Bradshaw, etc. Almost EVERY one of these guys has been to or won a super bowl, and they have combined to win 11(?) championships out of less than 60. I also didn't include Plunkett who won 1 or Eli who won 2. 1st overall picks are a pretty damn sure thing. And why are you lumping in Mahomes with any of those guys? Brady and Purdy were a far different situation than him, KC still got Mahomes at 10 or 11 overall. It's pretty obvious that your best bet for a QB is round 1, pick 1.
Oh hush, Browning wasn't a third stringer, he's been in the league 4 years under some WAY better and more experienced QBs, the list goes on. Point being is while I absolutely agree with you that it's awesome seeing the not-starters stepping up to the occasion this season, but I think what you mean to say is Jake can't hold TDs jock 😂

one of the best stories this year and there have been many
I immediately thought the bodyguard from 2 as well lol
happy for the great giants fans
“Cutlets for everyone!” - Rich’s best quote of 2023!
Spot on Rich, Staten Island baby !!!!! 🇮🇹 💪🏻
Growing up in Jersey as a lifelong fan of the Giants I can relate. Most of my family are Italian immigrants and I laterally can so relate ! Jersey is proud of him!
Cutlets for everyone!! Haha miss ya Rich.
The hype will be real if we beat the Eagles
Lets Go Big Blue 💙
Billy Batts: "Hey, Tommy! All dressed up. All grown up and doing the town. Look at this Tommy. Tommy! Oh. OH! Tommy!"
Watch the suit, watch the suit!
Guy's story reminds me of that Sport Writer Ray Romano
Now go shine my shoes lol
Just don’t tell him to get his shine box
My first thoughts on Tommy Devito's agent, Sean P. Stellato, was that he reminded me of Bobby Caldwell who sang "What You Won't Do For Love". The suit and hat he wore to last nights game reminded me of that music video...
So a Jets fan felt that pride. That NYC area pride. I saw it. All those hand gestures. It's not too late, Rich. We can welcome you.
9:00 Tommy Cutlets is a legend. That sweater alone.
That one vid took me back to Livingston. Born and raised 💪 go cutlets!
I'm from Brooklyn NY it's great to see my boy Tommy d get are giants back on top and your guy gots the hot hand you ride that horse till the end and he get us playoffs wins and some super bowls wins then he's are guy build around him
Great segment. Love it.
As an Italian and a Jets fan I'm really happy for Tommy DeVito
I am absolutely sold on Tommy Devito man. I love the mojo, the vibe, everything about him. Keep that man around!
I’m a diehard Cowboys fan. I love what I’m seeing from the Giants. I hope they keep DeVito, because he’s the perfect quarterback for that team.
Love it. I know it's early, but have the Giants found their guy.
Not until the draft
I like when he was standing out in the snow outside of Frankie Five Angels’ house when Michael did the surprise drop in.
Loving the love from "Rich from Staten Island"!
A great Tuesday in New York. Good on you
I love your enthusiasm Rich! What a great story line and you sold it!
this is why I keep coming back to Rich Eisen...!
Damn! I’ve never seen Rich this fired up! Not that I’ve seen or heard all of his shows lol
This is epic….go Tommy….as a jets fan (all my friends are giants fans) I’m rooting for you
Oh those Italians! If Devito and the Giants continue to win and make the playoffs , next season chances are good he will start as the Q.B.
My dream is to see this kid coming out to MetLife while the Sopranos theme is blaring in the screen and speakers. That would top Rodgers coming out with the American flag.
They did this last game
@@mylescharles Holy crap, they did it. Those sob’s really did it!
They do it after every passing TD too
That’s hilarious 😂
He’s confident but humble. He didn’t even make eye contact with a journalist in that clip. Just a great story.
Congrats to the Giants !!
I love Tommy D
Best srltory in the NFL right now
This has to be one of the most competitive/ level-playing-field type of seasons of my lifetime(I'm 29). I can't imagine many people expected the Giants OR Titans to win yesterday and they both pulled off upsets.
There are just a bunch of names getting their shot at QB with all the injuries/retirements. Only a small handful of teams are out of the playoff race with only 4 weeks left, should make for some good football!
Giants are out. They will lose this week
Brock Purdy, Jake Browning, and Tommy Cutlets are getting entire scouting departments s**tcanned.
Looks like DeVito’s early struggles was more having to face the Jets/Cowboys defenses
True that and also it was his first few starts
And I can't overemphasize how terrible the weather was in that Jets game. They still should have let him throw, but those were absolutely miserable conditions.
He didn’t start the Jet game. They knocked Taylor out
@@555crooked - true, but he played 3 quarters of that game
I'm a Giants fan but the dude can't consistently hit open WRs. He's playing like a QB 2 but he's not the answer long term at QB
@@ericbrown1101He initially went to Syracuse and transferred to Illinois for his Senior year.
Great segment RE
hoping the giants found their guy. this is so easy to root for, and i'm not a giants fan.
That was Great Rich.
As someone born in Bayonne and lives in Rutherford, I’m here for Tommy D.
This was a very fun clip thanks!!!
Yeah. Sorry I missed it. Still happy watching the highlights.
Great video Rich. Lol
Tommy cutlets baby 🐥🐥🐥
He actually played on that field in high school.
fans are disappointed that the giants didn't get a top 5 pick. but remember some of the greatest qbs in the history of the nfl were not top 5 picks. hurts, mahomes, purdy, brady, montana etc. devito has one thing jones doesn't have. confidence. and the team feeds off that. go tommy go.
@@173jaSon371 brady and montana eclipse all of them except bradshaw but he had a dominant defense. as fot mahomes 10 or 11 is not top 5.
Unitas
How you doin keep it movin 🤌
That Godfather II reference though!
I dated a Devito chick originally from Brooklyn. She was a phenom too🔥
HEEEYY - WHO WOULDUH GUEST
Tommy DeVito can’t hold Jake Browning’s jock😎
No in all seriousness, I love the story of these backup QBs balling. Good for them man. Good for them.
Giants! 🥇🏆
"Cutlets for everyone!" Go Tommy! Go G-men!
Rich had a good weekend😂😂...and i still get the staten island advance delivered to my house!!!....lets go zach and TOMMY CUTLETS!!!! 🇮🇹
I'm really happy for Tommy Cutlets. What a great story.
God I LOVE when of all the places to stand someone ends up standing outside Rich's window 😂
