Helpston Level Crossing

Saturday August 8 2015 at 5.03. The 13.30 Edinburgh to London (17.51) train, the 15.22 Birmingham to Stansted Airport (18.53) train and 66083 heading westwards towards the Midlands. This 6 track crossing was filmed from the other side in 2012. Earlier this year a 45 year old went to prison for 6 months for failing to stop twice at this crossing. 188 seconds was cut before the first train so there was a delay of 4 minutes 40 seconds between the crossing closing and the first train coming. Too long, the train must have been 8 miles away. There has been a recent proposal to close crossings in this area but it won't happen for years.
