He was there for all the hurt that Ian received before Mickey went looking for Ian in Season 4; so he would say anything he thinks would make Ian feel better. Fiona is only giving what she thinks is good advice; even if she couldn't keep a man if she tried. I don't think Mickey was more committed than Ian. Ian was just as good to Mickey, until his manic undiagnosed bipolar phase. Even making the porn was about making money since they didn't have any; and nothing to do with Ian's love for Mickey. That's why Ian couldn't understand why Mickey would be upset. Ian well knows how upset Mickey would be if he slept with someone else, but his mental illness had him stuck in the moment, not the outcome. And I notice that a lot of people forget that while Ian was with Monica, Mickey cheated on him with a woman and a man in the park.
Mickey didn't go to jail for ian in season 5 he went to jail because of something he did out of revenge. Ian didn't ask him to do anything. (No offense to mickey he's like my fav character)
I am so happy the writers didn't ruin their wedding. Finally gallavich is forever. Im so happy. I love them and wish them the best. It makes me S O B. I don't even like rewatching the seasons where Ian wasn't with Mickey. That shit is true love. Mickey had so much character development and even came out to his very homophobic dad just to be with Ian. Sometimes Mickey is underrated in the show. He was and forever will be my favorite tv show character. I really relate to him.
Fiona being cynical saying "I didn't" always stands out to me cause it was unfair but kinda understandable for her to say that. I mean Mickey had been there that first visit and it's like she, whether it was a defense mechanism or just genuinely didn't have faith in him, doesn't even give him the benefit of the doubt as if that wasn't a jarring experience for someone who'd never been through that. The reason it's understandable is because she doesn't think someone would stick around (which reminds me of S2 when she said people always leave) especially if they don't _have_ to especially considering how uncertain & uncomfortable their lives are. Then Mickey turns around and is there for Ian _way_ more than the other Gallaghers. Granted I don't know about S6-9 too much but I don't think they tried to get used to bipolar Ian and were just micromanaging or condescending or they were caught up in their own stuff. Not trying to sanctify Mickey or say he's so great but at least he was trying to adapt with Ian until the point where they were on the same page (or at least the same book) in S10

They were around it, they should have been able to spot the signs of bipolar sooner than what they did. It scared Mickey. Mickey had no idea that there was a reason behind it or thought of it because he didn't know!!!! And how Fiona explained it to Mickey, pisses me the fuck off every time I watch that scene. I know she was panicking, but she should have kept a level head while explaining it or try to be a little bit sensitive about it with Mickey or in general. But she didn't, Fiona went on explaining as if it was one of the worst things in the world and it added to Mickey's fear. I know I am repeating myself, but oh well, Mickey is standing there talking to Fiona and explaining what was going on with Ian or telling what he has seen in Ian's actions, and then he learns there is a medical reason behind. A medical reason he never even heard of or that its a disease. I think the moment Fiona said the word disease, Mickey heard the word disease. Diseases kill people, and now someone he loves and genuinely cares about has a disease. Is this disease going to take Ian away from him in a permanent way? We have already seen how Mickey is without Ian, and it's never good. The boy is a complete mess, and now he learns this. Then Fiona starts spouting what Bipolar Disorder is and made it sound like it was a fucking death sentence. Saying that it's impossible to deal with. Just because how Monica lived with Bipolar doesn't mean Ian will be the same way. And then Fiona starts talking about him being placed in a hospital... She didn't even think about trying to get him diagnosed or also get him medication to turn things around for Ian. And Mickey panicked there, and then she started talking about suicide, which I feel is a crucial thing to bring up because things could end up on that path, and Mickey hears suicide and suicide is death. Ian can commit suicide if his mind ever reached that point. Again, he panics and overloaded by everything he just learned in like 3 minutes. Mickey didn't even have time to process it. And I love Mickey, even more, when he shut Fiona down when she started talking how impossible Bipolar can be, and that is Fiona stigmatizing her own fucking brother!!!!! Another thing that gets me about the Gallaghers with Ian's Bipolar is their reaction. How they treat Ian after he gets his official diagnosis of Bipolar I... They treated like he couldn't take care of himself and talked to him like he was a child, not even considering that Ian just got slammed with a Mental Illness diagnosis. Started watching everything he did, watching his meds, asking about his med. They didn't even let Ian adjust to it or come to terms with it or learn on his own that he can still live a good life even with Bipolar Disorder. Yes, they did it out of concern for Ian, but it still made Ian feel like shit. Here is Ian stuck with his disorder for the rest of his life, taking pills to control his mood swings, having to watch every, and I mean everything he does to make sure it doesn't trigger something. Ian had to learn a new way of life for himself. Ian has to watch how much stress he is under, how much sleep he is getting, he has to watch his caffeine intake, and also make sure his meds are staying balanced and to watch for side effects from the meds. I don't think the combo they gave Ian was right for him because most people go through trial and error until they find the right one for them. They gave him Lithium to start, and Lithium can be very dangerous to take if you are not careful. You got to watch your salt intake, you can't have too little or too much because it can affect the lithium levels in the blood. You also have to drink enough water because Lithium can be dangerous to the kidneys. And yes, Ian was in denial for a while, but who the hell wouldn't be? Especially when he knows what Bipolar has done to his own family, and now he is stuck with the disorder that caused his family so much suffering and pain. Ian now has the burden and mindset on his shoulders. All they saw was Monica in Ian. Yes, they had a bad experience with Monica due to her refusing to medicate and to leave her kids behind, but that was also Monica's choice. Still, also I feel if maybe if Monica had a better support system and I am not excusing her for her actions to her family, perhaps she would have responded better to the meds. Then we go back to Mickey. The thing about Mickey, this is what really pisses me off about the Gallaghers, is how Mickey handled Ian's diagnosis. Mickey, who has never been around Bipolar, and it blows my mind the way he stepped up to plate. I mean, the boy learned about the vitamins. Did any of the Gallaghers even attempt to learn about it? Mickey handled it better than any of Ian's family, except maybe Lip. I would say Lip probably did the best job out of the Gallagher bunch, he was sad, but he was also encouraging at times, but Lip was still an asshole at times. This makes me rant, and I am sorry, but when I start, I can't stop until I am done.
I know is an unpopular opinion, but I didn't take her comment to mean anything negative towards Mickey that she didn't think he would come after the last visit. She told Mickey something like, imaging visiting your mother here when you are 7 years old (i don't remember exactly the age she said). So she knew what Mickey was going trough and therefore wasn't surprised that he it broke his heart seeing Ian like that.

First time I watched Shameless was around 2015, I watched it until season 5 when Mickey and Ian broke up, I cried a lot and decided to take a break from the show. Just gone through ss6-10 in a week recently and I am very very happy for them. It's just like watching some on you know, you care for and can relate to them, watch them grow, develop, fighting and loving, be apart then reunion. They're not like a fictional character at all, but real person you can come across somewhere in this life. Watching them getting married put me in tears of happiness and joyful after seeing what they went through. This song is just perfect to some up their relationship, like Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' in their wedding, especially Mickey "waited all my life" line, he was always like 'Ian or no one else', fell in love just once in his life and fell so hard that he can't never escape from his love. Almost four years ago one Gallavich video was in my recommendation and that video started so much fire that I watched upto season seven or eight under one month during my High school. I am grateful to that video but I didn't even remember which particular video it was.
My body physically hurt seeing this at 2am. It's been 10 years to One Direction today, and I miss Gallavich so much. All I'm doing is watchin their edits and also Malec's because there's nothing more healthy than their relationship.
Mickey was by far my favorite and I only liked Gallavich because of him. This show always leaves me wanting though, as all I wanted was for s1-5 Mickey to be happy. Even when he thought he was at the beginning of S5, we knew different. Mickey tried so hard, fought for love. Sacrificed so much. S4 and S5 he became the real heart of the show. Open, vulnerable, brave, periodically getting stomped on. No wonder our hearts were broken s6-s8.

I love seeing how the roles in their relationship switched over time. In the beginning Ian was the softie who fell real quick and Mickey was the stone wall that wouldn’t let feelings in and just wanted sex. In the end Mickey was the big softie who wanted to protect his baby Ian was still protective and stuff but Mickey really changed over time. Which was a great thing. He learned to accept himself in spite of his dad and he realised who his real family is. Mickey and the Gallaghers.

@@Auburngal03 Actually it wasn't on purpose, it's the coloring. It didn't look that dark before rendering, it's sometimes difficult to estimate what will be too dark. I'm sorry for that! 🙈 Won't happen next time!

First time I watched Shameless was around 2015, I watched it until season 5 when Mickey and Ian broke up, I cried a lot and decided to take a break from the show. Just gone through ss6-10 in a week recently and I am very very happy for them. It's just like watching some on you know, you care for and can relate to them, watch them grow, develop, fighting and loving, be apart then reunion. They're not like a fictional character at all, but real person you can come across somewhere in this life. Watching them getting married put me in tears of happiness and joyful after seeing what they went through.
This song is just perfect to some up their relationship, like Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' in their wedding, especially Mickey "waited all my life" line, he was always like 'Ian or no one else', fell in love just once in his life and fell so hard that he can't never escape from his love. Mickey was by far my favorite and I only liked Gallavich because of him. This show always leaves me wanting though, as all I wanted was for s1-5 Mickey to be happy. Even when he thought he was at the beginning of S5, we knew different. Mickey tried so hard, fought for love. Sacrificed so much. S4 and S5 he became the real heart of the show. Open, vulnerable, brave, periodically getting stomped on. No wonder our hearts were broken s6-s8.

I love seeing how the roles in their relationship switched over time. In the beginning Ian was the softie who fell real quick and Mickey was the stone wall that wouldn’t let feelings in and just wanted sex. In the end Mickey was the big softie who wanted to protect his baby Ian was still protective and stuff but Mickey really changed over time. Which was a great thing. He learned to accept himself in spite of his dad and he realised who his real family is. Mickey and the Gallaghers.
