  • A 14-year-old boy has died following multiple stabbings in east London as a sword-wielding suspect remains in custody after being tasered and arrested on suspicion of murder.
Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell, of the Metropolitan Police, said four other people were injured in the attack in Hainault, while Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe said the suspect is in hospital after sustaining injuries when his van hit a house.
Two Met officers suffered wounds that require surgery, with Mr Bell describing their injuries as “significant” but not life-threatening, and injuries sustained by two members of the public are also not deemed to be life-threatening.
The officer said he did not believe it was a targeted attack, and it is not believed to be terror-related.
A 36-year-old man was tasered and arrested at the scene but has not yet been interviewed because of his injuries, the Met said.
Talk’s Jeremy Kyle is joined by former Met Police detective Peter Bleksley to discuss the latest.

This is the difference between Peter Bleksley, a proper former policeman, and Rowley a career political policeman that doesn't really care about the safety of the public. Rowley is more concerned with political correctness and virtue signalling. We need serious consequences for all levels of crime, not talk and claptrap.

Was it Rowley that did that publics update and talked for the first 5 minutes about feelings ? Geez, Barry Manilo’s song started playing in my head.

The increased breakdown of order, and growing poverty of British subjects from that. Also, the British police deciding decades ago that college degrees, the proper political ideology and skin color of officers, and gender equity being the priorities, not effective policing and safe neighborhoods.

“Police are too soft on crimes like this”
Police don’t determine punishment for crimes they enforce laws of the court.
The police being allowed to murder criminals on sight will make you feel better but it will not stop these crimes from still happening and will not improve the mental health of a nation if we have death squads marching and delivering judgement with impunity if they decide you step out of line.
People of colour, migrants, women of any race and the queer community are already at the mercy of police brutality regardless of commiting a crime or not. You want them to have guns too?
“We got this kind of stuff” going on everyday because austerity has gutted mental healthcare, youth centres, social services, NHS, police staffing and prison systems and because hundreds of thousands of people are using food banks, hundreds of thousands of people are homeless and because housing and food prices continue to rise whilst wages are not adjusted.
But you with your tiny fucking mind want to minimise this complex problem to one issue… “it’s because police are too soft”

From Canada. I have been in the policing world for 17 years and I have seen first hand what happens when policies affecting front line police are implemented without considering the consequences. Officers second guessing themselves in dangerous situations, that if they take the action that is needed and it goes against a policy, that they will lose their job and may end up in jail. “Carpet Cops”, is what we call officers that haven’t seen the inside of a police vehicle or responded to a call in years, but sit in their offices and patrol the hallways. It should be policy that they work with the frontline officers one week a month, every month, in order to experience what frontline officers are dealing with day in day out.

We are all suffering from knife crime and we all need more controls in place from the powers above. Prayers to that young brother and his family

This is very sad. Poor child and his family.
    The UK is falling apart.
The country must address its class, social and cultural barriers .
The press needs to be positive about its different communities.
The government has to stop underfunding the NHS so that ill people get the care they need.
And putting thousands of guns on the street is a ridiculous situation. Look at the American example. Millions of guns don't help reduce crimes. Serious punishment for crime does make a difference. Talk to the lawyers and the judges.

Peter Bleksley for the love of god please explain how the change to "sector policing" messed up the public's relationship to policing and police officers. Talk about the sale of police houses and the withdrawal of police from our communities. You can not divorce the police changes from the current and being honest....the past TWO generations of mistrust and frankly fear of the police.
Recent issues of criminal behaviour by serving officers has further eroded the public's trust in the MET especially but also in all other police services/forces. It would be constructive to break from the media Dixon of Dock Green rear view mirror speeches and deal with the fact the genie can not be put back in the bottle.

The Police were quick enough to shoot two dogs which posed no threat but were killed because they were over zealous due to inaccurate reports. Yet in this case no guns - just one brave lady Policewoman with a taser and what looked to be Police seriously out of their depth. A child has lost his life that is unbelievable. There is no deterrent and these problems will get much worse. Sincere condolences to the family of this little boy who has lost his life in the most horrific circumstances. Sadly, I feel that we need the army on the streets as the Police are no longer able to deal with the crime on the streets of the UK.

Former soldiers are not representing the communities? Is that Chief of the police for real??? My husband served the full 24 years, like the gentleman who called in and I've been there with him for 21 years of that. Soldiers represent EVERY community, because they come from EVERY community and work with people from EVERY community. That is how simple it is, Mr Chief and your perception of reality is false! Soldiers can talk to every member of a community, because getting along with everybody of any community is part of their job. Without being able to do that, they'd put their own and every other soldiers' lives at risk. You, Sir, Mr Chief, are arrogant and clueless and you endanger lives being in your job. It should be somebody like Peter Bleksley, who knows what he is talking about. I'd feel much, much saver knowing Mr Bleksley in charge.
