A45 is definitely on a different level but Tsuchiya 's amazing driving skill made FK8 to reach the same level as the A45

on a track, it's definitely not on a different level, on backroads like this AWD will inspire more confidence for the driver which help more than ultimate performance when u can't push 10/10 everywhere.
100%. You can just see how much input Tsuchiya had to put in to keep a respectable line (especially when he was leading). Insane that the fk8 hung tough though because the A45 buildout is guaranteed twice the cost of the FK8 buildout! Shout out Seeker!
Don't forget it's tuned Civic-R. Base Civic-R gets smoked by A45

Further tuning equates more financial increase. By the time it reaches the a45 amg, it'll probably cost the same, thus negating it's initial budget friendly target, no?
@@trcs3079 yes that is one point, but you can start nearly as fast for half the price, then slowly modify as you see fit. It's also more fun as a drivers car.

I've been watching Best Motoring videos since a teenager, dreaming about owning a 90's sports car and I never knew about new videos. Watching this one is kinda nostalgic and awesome in the same way. DK skills always amazed me and it's impressive that he didn't lost the touch over the years. Kudos from Brazil, big fan here, @BestMOTORing, nowdays I own an CIVIC FA8 Si, inspired by those Touge battles.

Honestly both cars seemed to be struggling thru the tighter turns, wet conditions and vehicle weight seems to play a big role

This was a good race. Tsuchiya showed out and showed off his skills in that Civic Type R. Think about it: an FF against a 4WD in semi wet conditions.
A45 has 100 more horses, All Wheels Drive vs Type R which is FWD ... on a wet condition. A45 has an advantage clearly ... and a 50% higher price tab. I will say good job to both the Honda Engineers and German Engineers for coming up with 2 'Super' cars that are great to drive and compete with. Great cars!!
the A45 is actually really cheap compared to the Type R, almost same price second hand.

The chassis and suspension of the fk8 must be truly incredible to oversteer on power for a ff car with so much power
Honda pulled it off with the EK9 and DC2 Type-R so if anyone can pull it off, its them
Pretty much every Honda has been able to do that right off of the showroom floor since like 1984.
It doesn't oversteer on power (power oversteer) that's impossible for FF, it's lift-off oversteer and chassis balance oversteer...

you can read in the caption the driver talks about tapping the break which caused the oversteer (very similar to lift off oversteer as you said)

でも冷静に考えるとあのやたら重いR34より更に100キロ重いA45がチューンしたFK8と対等にこのクソ狭い峠で走れるってのも凄いですよ、同じ2Lターボですからねしかも....
今のAMGってどのクラスも恐ろしい完成度ですよね😅どのクラスも重いのに、車の性能でカバーしてしまうという…

純正では安全性能とか快適性能とかの余計な物がいっぱい付いてるから重たいけどその辺をなくせたら化けそうです。
