This motor will be a monster when the solid state battery packs hit the market. I don't think people realize yet how much of a game changer ss battery tech will be for everything.
A suggestion. Where carbon fibre tubes are fitted onto stubs at the ends, they tend to crack or delaminate on impact. An easy way to reinforce the ends is to get some strong thread like sailmakers yarn and whip the ends from the end to beyond where the stub fits into. The run superglue over the whole twine whipping. It dries like concrete and the thread adds soo much strength and it weighs almost nothing. I have been flying carbon fibre kites for years and used to carry several carbon fibre tubes until I discovered this reinforcement, havnt broken a tube since despite som heavy pile ins. Steve
After watching more than a dozen EPPG reviews, they all agree on the same thing, "in a few years when these Tesla 2010 batteries are updated to the current battery standard, you will be able to fly 2-3 hours just like a gas rig at the same weight". I am 6'3" and 300lbs even, when I asked about "the largest, most powerful EPPG engines available" I always get the same thing; "with your size you might get 25 mins of powered flight time". Compared to the 3 hours I'd easily get with a 280 engine and 4.8 Gals of fuel at the same weight, I'll need to wait 3-5 years most likely.
Firstly, nice video Sean! @ 06:00 - I definitely agree you're blessed that the Airport Manager at the FBO is not a jerk, but YOU are paying for that airfield! It's a public utility. It's not like the guy is doing you a favor; it's his obligation, notwithstanding current or past malfeasance on your part on your part that would disqualify you. We are, in the PPG community, in fact, allowed to use the airport. After all, we pay for them too! Anyway, I think I understand what you meant by the comment, and don't mean to pick a fight, but just felt like it needed to be said. Glad you have a nice airport that you can use, as you should be able too.
Said it here first, a high endurance PPG was available years ago in the form of a trike to carry the battery pack. You'd get hours with a 100 lb pack (including hardcase, contactors, bus bars, bms).
@9:11 - Double tap to arm the motors while you're kiting. I've done that once or twice on my X4. Try starting a 2 stroke while you're kiting! ha! I now make that double tap the last item on my prelaunch checklist.

The future is electric for sure. At this point I'm debating just holding on to my old motor for 2 more years and running it into the ground since it doesn't make sense to buy a new one when the only limiting issue with electric is the batteries. 2-3 more years and 2-stroke will be dead.
@@grejen711 iirc LG chem and Sony are building factories to start the production of Solid state lithium batteries, they should start production in around 2023. Solid state batteries are about double the density of current lipos at the same weight, so it'll pretty much be the end of gas.
My dad and I want to try to set up a trike that can handle the weight with 3 battery packs (12kwh) for more flight time. Is the battery that comes with this setup to be able to chain multiple together out of the box, or would creative engineering be required?
Is that a special made prop for them. That is nice.. triblade on a few of my long range drones more efficient at low throttle (some even full) .. thats nice.. Roughly how long was your flight? Did it show you how much battery you had left? Can you give more description of the noise? So it's less loud overall, but has that high-pitched whine? Glad to hear thrust was good -- did you find it gave you a shorter takeoff? What wing were you using? What were your overall impressions? How does it compare to a regular gas-powered paramotor? You said the harness felt comfortable - which type was it?
about a 20 minute flight... it showed me how much time was left on the throttle and voltage... I used my apco lift ez Large... It has more power than a moster 185 but only ONE hour time with this batter... im use to 2 1/2 hours of flight on my motor with gas... I really like it and cant wait to buy an electric paramotor...

The problem with doing this is the frame is a really small part of the price. The power system will cost you- guessing 80-90% of the price of a power system mounted into the frame that's engineered for it. Why adapt? Are you that enamored with the Skytap frame?

how easy is it to change battery when you are low on battery and wanting to strap another battery? it looks like you need to take the whole prop off and cage?

You need a licence to fly a heavy motor so not an option for everyone

Its only 1 tap to estart a 2 stroke, so its twice as simple as electric. Haha.

No need to take anything off, the battery slides out vertically for a quick swap or to split up the weight for transportation

The paramotor, 3 blade prop, harness large battery, and charger was about $7500. With shipping and battery fee.
The benefit though is it costs less to recharge than buying gas and oil
