He did need to defend himself against Skull Knight, which I assume was sort of an insult to Void. It's like an archer entering a king's court and forcing the King to raise his goblet to deflect an arrow. To get that close is insult enough to the 'invincible' ruler.

I think the sheer impact of what Skull Knight pulls off here has gone underreported
After one of the most sorrowful, nihilistic moments in perhaps any visual medium. Skull Knight tears his way into the Astral realm, fearless attacks one of the vile shepherds of destiny whose ranks Griffith has just joined and lives to tell the tale, before cleaving one of the disgusting monsters that jolliy filled their bellies with Guts’ loved ones in half with masterful grace.
In a world so bottomlessly dark and depressing as Berserk’s, the Skull Knight inspires you to believe that it’s horrors *can* be conquered, however impossible the task seems.

Skull Knight's attack wasn't pointless. By forcing Void to defend himself, he prevented him from interfering in the rescue of Guts and Casca. Even for a badass like Skull Knight, challenging the Godhand on their own turf was incredibly dangerous.
Void usually doesn't interferes at all in anything that's not bound to causality, he doesn't even comment on Skull Knight's presence when Slan asked him about it.
When it was the count advent in the Black Swordsman Arc Void went straight to the point and ignore Guts completely even if he was trying to attack Femto, he didn't even acknowledge Guts presence at all, same here, he could clearly banish Skull Knight with his portals but since Skull Knight cannot stop the Eclipse since the ceremony is over he finds it pointless.

This does not make any sense cause the attack had been before Skull Knight saved Guts and Casca. If Void wanted he could interfere it.
He can see the future. He wouldn’t have tried if he knew he would fail. That’s what he calls causality.
What? What makes you think Void couldn't attack them after he blocked Skull Knight's attack? He (like Slan, Ubik and Conrad) just wanted to see how this would play out, there is nothing that implies that the godhand somehow couldn't have intervened.

They even had hints of what could had been after the movies, but for some reason it got replaced by the low budged thing from 2016-2017.
@@BerserkDoomer They replaced the studio because it was busy on other projects and the young animal along with berserk films didn't want to wait for the studio so they went with who offered first, unfortunately that's why the 2016/2017 anime came out. If berserk films and young animal had been patient we would already have continuation of golden age and with this same animation quality.
@@eltioben1285Hopefully if the memorial edition does good they’ll continue to adapt berserk. I really like their 2d animation, their cgi can at times look a little janky but their cgi was never as bad as 2016s animation.

@@eltioben1285 It was young animal’s fault in the first place for apparently not giving the green light for more berserk after the third movie.
Scenes like this one is why the movie trilogy/memorial edition is such a gem, this scene is 10/10, really well done. Obviously there are scenes where the CGI doesn't look good, but they are a minority, most of the scenes are at least decent
After the trainwreck that was Berserk 2016 id gladly take this with open arms and waffles.
The Berserk community didn't appreciate the golden age movies until the 2016/2017 anime. It was a complete 180.
Studio 4C had plans to adapt more but if I recall correctly, due to harsh criticism, licensing issues and less than desirable profits they canned the entire idea. They were going to adapt the Lost Children chapters.
There are videos on RUclips of the cancelled footage of the Black Swordsman and Conviction arcs.
Personally, I hope that Studio 4C picks up Berserk again. Although CGI was bad at times and key elements were cut, the movies were beautiful and illustrated the feeling of Berserk perfectly. Just as good as the 97 anime, but differently.
Skull Knight is such a Badass.
That side-step tho, man that horse deserves just as much credit for being so cool.
This is the most amazing moment in all Bersek. This is the most misterious character with a very vague background and the most impressive one, saddly we had to wait decades until the very last chapter before Kentaro's death to confirm the same theory that we have in the golden age arc...

Casca and Guts were meant to perish there, but thankfully were rescued before that. I am curious if we will ever learn Skull Knight is. Some speculate that he could be Guts from a distant future or could he be a relative to Guts.
I've watched the movies & read the mangas until the 13th, I'd say (theory, might be a spoil dunno) skull knight is related to void (big brain guy) regarding the dates that were mentioned : the god hands have been existing for ~ 1000 years, the occultation taking place every 200y (+ zodd telling skull he's been killing the demons for a thousand years repeatedly) quick math and there you might have a connexion btw void and skull. I love the similarities btw skull and guts : guts cuts through the soldiers, skull through the demons, and they have a relevant relation with their sword, or what it might help them to achieve.
