      @@cos123456789cos I agree, even JP talks about how successful people become successful. You have to be willing to go to the absolute extreme in doing something to be superior at it. Just choose what you're willing to suffer for, not what you "want"

    This is crazy. I’ve been following JP for quite some time now and in the last couple of weeks I have tried to gain a better understanding of myself, meaning “what are my weaknesses that need to burn off? What activities give me joy and make me feel alive? What triggers my neuroticism? What are my strengths? Etc. right”. Okay and yesterday, the day before my first ever appointment with a therapist, I finally managed to create a practical framework based on my own thought and behavior processes and Jordan Peterson’s teachings - A GAME - that I could use today and next week, next month, next year, always. And so last night I emailed the receptionist that she can cancel today’s appointment with the therapist because I no longer need it. And then now, I just woke up and somehow this video pops up on my phone about creating a framework, a GAME. That’s so crazyyyy. That’s what I was doing all day yesterday!! :D

    You can either continue living as the person you were on the past or, you can choose to live like your future self. The choice is always yours
    .
    Our level of motivation to do things depends on our beliefs and identity. And the best way to influence those two is to change your patterns!
    You can use your sense of meaning to calibrate your progress through life. There are rules:
    1. Form your belief. Know who do you want to be or try to know. Aim at the highest possible good that you can conceive. And that’s subject to update. Decide that being is worthwhile and that you are going to work for its betterment.
    2. You are going to play a straight game and commit to being honorable.
    By doing this you hit a state that’s as close to paradise as you’re going to hit right away. Being engaged in the solution to a complex problem creates ultimate purpose.
    Life isn't a game, it’s a set of games, and the rule is never sacrifice victory across the set of games for the victory in one game. The best player of the game is the one who get invited the most because everyone wants him in their team so they can win the game. The person who is the master at being invited to greatest number of possible games, is also the same person that goes out forthrightly to conquer the unknown before it presents itself as the enemy at the door. The most successful people take risks, jump into unknown, and tackle problems before they are even noticed by others. The link would be logical because this kind of people would need to be brave, intuitive (the eye metaphor, paying attention), and competent in tackling issues, which are all very positive and desirable traits. The person who plays the games in a way that he continues to be invited back, and gets invited to the most games, is the same person as the one who goes into the unknown.

    The idea of paying attention is interesting to me. I've had a meditation practice on and off for a few years now, when I've lapsed in my practice and I need to reboot the first few sessions are mentally irritating. I put this down to having to pay attention, throughout the lapsed period it feels like my mind has enjoyed being carried along by distraction, never having to flex the muscle of concentration as my daily life gives my mind an easy ride through my routines. I'm in the place of order, I don't have to think or concentrate.
    I certainly am a person who will filter what a person is saying and how they are acting towards me, so that I see the person I want to see.
    The whole segment is good, the first 5 minutes is stark advice.

    my theory on the meta game winner and the one who confronts unknown danger: Society sets up games as proxies for survival in order to find the maximizing strategy to confront unknown dangers, therefore the person who is the most successful at being invited to the largest set of games which is created from the set of known dangers is the most fit to confront any set of unknown dangers.

    Being invited to games and respected by your peers requires consistently playing by the rules and improving your skills by working within the system. Slaying the chaos dragon requires that you start by slaying its spawn and work your way up with the exact same consistency, tenacity and virtue. If in either case you fail to uphold your principles, you lose ground or perhaps you slip and fall to your doom. The reason the same kind of person would excel at both is simply the fact that they put before you the same hurdles and as a result, those who stand the tests of one will likely overcome the other. They have similar standards, so it is only natural for the dragon slayer to also be respected by their social circle and to excel at whatever occupation they've chosen due to the mindset they apply.

    The person who plays the games in a way that he continues to be invited back, and gets invited to the most games, is the same person as the one who goes into the unknown. WHY? Because he knows he has the most people behind him who support his efforts, and will appreciate his struggles. He has burned the fewest bridges and has gathered the greatest amount of respect.

    • @adamwattsmusic

      I think it may have something to do with humility. The person able to lose a game gracefully and have that larger perspective on the larger set of games has a kind of humility and gracefulness in how they approach life... graceful and humble in both and defeat. A very rare trait. This kind of mature humility may allow them to see further past their own regressive traits and most importantly, past their own pride and into the unknown... where dangers lurk and eventually emerge from the fog. Perhaps nothing is as toxic and blinding as pride... ask the devil. And nothing more life-giving and freeing than grace and humility... ask Jesus. If this take on it is true, then it would make sense that pride is what blinds us to the devil's (or the enemy's) arrival at our door. If so, it's darkly ironic.

    • @stevemcgee99
      @stevemcgee99 7 лет назад

      Humility makes sense, too, because as one who sees himself in the 'short term' (which is relative) being of less concern to the long term, or who sees that win/lose is less desirable than win/win, he would be more likely of the small group to risk himself in the unknown.

    This is my attempt at answering your question at 9:40. The person who conquers chaos(victor) is also the same person that is invited to the most games because there are people at the bottom who are paying attention. Those who pay attention recognize that the victor knows something they don't, and in order for them to dominate their own hierchy they must learn from the victor, they do this by inviting the victor to play games with them. I'm up for conversation if anyone thinks otherwise or has something to add.

    • @sanjaynalamaru
      @sanjaynalamaru 6 лет назад

      That's an excellent representation of what he tried to say. But the more that I think about it.. it seems like we'd have to assume that everyone in the game wants to pay attention. So to solve that problem of assumption. It makes more sense to say that they invite someone better to play the game because that's a chance to go up the dominance hierarchy by beating the Goliath. But that's assuming that we go up the hierarchy by beating the one at the top. Which I'm not so sure about either.

    • @ernasabbel8762
      @ernasabbel8762 6 лет назад

      I'm not quite sure about a point here. You say the Victor will be invited to play more games, by people who have less particular knowledge. Which also means, that the game won't be much of a challenge for the victor. Does it still count as a game, if the winner is already determined then? On the other hand, it should be clear, that even the Victor can learn from his challengers, even if they cant quite compete. Although the rate of improvement must be very small. I gues its more like some kind of manifestation of the rules, which he already figured out.

    • @ernasabbel8762
      @ernasabbel8762 6 лет назад

      sanjay nalamaru JP said you have to leave the dominance hierarchy in order to rise to the top of (other) dominance hierarchy's. Which also means to encounter new problems/challenges or to go into unknown territory. This might allow u to verify your "rules of the game" by trying to formulate/proof them as universal.
      With the successful verification u might want to comeback to your known territory, implementing the now improved rules. It's some kind of filter mechanism i gues, after which you are able to be certain about some of your existing rules and pursue them in a more efficient way. This enables you to beat Goliath (the 1% top or whatever you are projecting him on)

    • @jameswww9524
      @jameswww9524 6 лет назад

      Donnie, wouldn't the one who gets invited to lots of games have to PRECEDE being the victor? I thought that was what Dr. Peterson was saying (i.e you get invited to lots of games and eventually become the one who conquers the unknown before it becomes a threat). This actually makes sense from a 'law of large numbers' & "knowledge is power' standpoint; (ex: if you are in sales, you are taught to prospect as much as you can because if you close 1 out of 10...you will close more by prospecting more). So, in this sense, the one who plays the most games will not only gain more life experience, knowledge and social connections, but also have more popularity (i.e authority and power), and will also be the one who "sees" the most (i.e experiences the most). Also, if you follow many successful people, a common theme amongst them is that even though luck may have contributed to their success, they put themselves in a position to be lucky 99 out of 100 prior times in which it didn't work out, and all you see is the 1 time it did (i.e they play more games & take more risks). In other videos, Dr. Peterson has made mention of ancient Egypts' 'who has the right to rule'...with the answer being; the person with "sight, speech, and the willingness to face the unknown" (i.e the one who has good sight/vision, then goes out to conquer the unknown, then glorifies it in stories (speech)). What does everyone else think?

    I feel like those two things have a relationship - that being the one who is most successful across the whole set of games, and the one who goes out into the unknown willingly - because one who accepts the former accepts willingly the person chaos thrusted upon them when losing a game. In the latter it is all but the exact same meta scenario, one accepts the chaos of the world, and willingly thrusts it onto themselves. In both scenarios, the individual accepts chaos because they know and have faith that order is within chaos just as the opposite is true. And order that is found in chaos is a very pure form of order which is new, full of vitality, and absent of the presence of old dying culture.

    I think Goku is a good example of what Dr. Peterson is talking about in reference to the realtionship between "The Player that plays to play again" and " The Hero that conquers the unknown." The video "Vegeta admits Goku is better" explains it perfectly. My favorite scene of the show. And Goku is a symbol of the Sun, Harmonizing Mercy and Severity, fueled by the power of true self.

    How to play together is one of today's biggest problems being so many have figured out that by degeneration the rules they can get a short term gain over their opponents which, unfortunately, leads to their oponentes doing the same and so on.
    I see this action a lot on online forums and chat sites now with certain individuals. Most people will not break down the established rules of give and take social debt interaction but a few will do anything to try and force it downward to their short term advantage even if it ultimately make them look far less credible later even right up to the point no one will play with them in any form.
    Person A makes a statement and person B sees it wrong and calls them out on it to which normally person A would review the evidence and submit to their having been proven wrong.
    Now I see more people trying to degenerate the rules by switching out the submission to having been proven wrong with degenerating the rules to multiple versions of denial to get out of accepting their statement and or belief has been shown false.
    They either counter claim that the proof is irrelevant due to some lame exclusionary excuse like it's source is not one that they see as valid even if the proof it carries is 100% factually undeniable in its nature or they simply play to being too simple minded or outrightly stupid to understand what has been shown to them so that they can use faked ignorance to get out of having to own up to being in fact wrong.
    Or, if that doesn't work they will even scrutinize and pick apart their opponents most relevant details of action like how they worded or spelled or punctuated their reply (grammar nazi them) in order to detract for the fact they were proven or can be proven wrong on the real points of the debate even if it means failing at that too.
    Even beyond that for certain people I have come to see that once they figure out they break the primary rule sets and can get away with degrading the validity of the points of the game some will then stop at nothing to take it as far as they can go in order to not submit and or acknowledge that they are losing or have ultimately lost.
    They will redefine terminology, meanings, game formality, self respect, dignity, and for some even the literal definitions of what it is to score a point or win in the game. They will even make losing and being a clear loser in every sense of the words the basis of their self defined winning strategy just to make sure the real winner or winners cannot feel a sense of victory no matter how badly anyone beat them.
    In online arenas that's where the true birth of the internet troll comes at that point. In real life it's where SJW's and far right liberal protestor types come from. They cannot be wrong because they have redefined the very concept of being wrong to never include them in any way but to fit everything their opponent does even if it means being a undeniable hypocrite in every single aspect of the game.

    9:20ish, I think you've presented a construct which has no true bounds, and thus can be shown cause by any sort of fancy. What you are seeing may be correct, those who are expected to be the conquerors are the ones who are given the most leeway in the lives of others, but I think more likely they have, through that access, recognized enough core strategies of survival to see which to adopt when faced with the unsorted pieces the previously unknown . However, conquering that which is truly unknown is impossible to predict, thus it is only in the emotional hope that having been polished in known conditions to sustain over those conditions, the unknown will not somehow exceed.

How this human can verbalize in near realtime I/O is ...(/mental Window BlueScreen)? I will not assume any manner of immediate understanding but will contemplate (at a far slower pace than Peterson). My only output from this = The personal/intimate/immediate is not neat, clean; not so easily sorted, catalogued and safely filed away in an easy to digest byte of storable data for later implication of intent. Has immediate reaction becomes more valued than contemplated action?

    I am not sure if Jordan Peterson is correct about what the ancient Egyptians eye. One can only grasp that concept of higher consciousness once you have activated the metaphysical eye. Once that is activated then your life will slowly change moving higher and higher to the top. It needs to open first before you begin the climb. The process before and after it opens can really shake you up if one is not ready, though life becomes sharp and unique. We need it to open it to move through the darkness/abyss and to become a more complete human. It is the only light in the dark that is guiding you to your soul back to where you need to be.

He was popular in the tribe because his skills helped feed the tribe plus he could teach the others to be more proficient and useful hunters. Like the english longbow, started out as a grass roots endeavour like playing horseshoes. These men and boys learned of the immense power a yew stick and some arrows could achieve greatness, like knocking a knight off a horse, a poor boy could take out a rich aristocrat in finery and armour that in todays dollars would be close to a million bucks.

    • @LeblueLegume
      @LeblueLegume 7 лет назад +2

      It fits. Sauron wants to become the supreme ruler of middle earth. He is trying to become god. It is fitting that he would be an all seeing eye.

      stevemcgee99 it speaks to Sauron'd power. They also defeat him by escaping his eye...because Sauron cannot foresee that his enemies will not seek the same absolute rule that he seeks- so he is blind to their plan to destroy the ring until too late.

      stevemcgee99 Saturn apparently used to be called the Lord of the Rings. And they would symbolize it as a crescent as well, and take a look at the eye Sauron, he is in a crescent. Satan also apparently symbolizes Saturn. I dont remember these things very clearly, but there are videos on it.

    Why is it that the person who is the master at being invited to play the largest possible number of games is the same person that goes forthrightly to conquer the unknown before it presents itself as the enemy at the door?
    For one thing, it is because the person who proactively conquers her own unconscious darkness, thus expanding her conscousness and self-awareness, is by the very act of doing that advancing rapidly in all other games, including the meta-game of getting invited to play the largest possible number of games.
    Looking outside is looking inside. We project our inner reality around us, whether we're conscious of it or not. So, know thyself.

      "Gold is unaffected by air, water, alkalis and all acids except aqua regia (a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid) which can dissolve gold. Gold does react with halogens. It will, for example, react very slowly with chlorine gas at room temperature to form gold chloride, AuCl3."

    14:08 Forty years. Also understand your entire interpretations have Christian foundation. Most atheists as well criticize from Christian perspective. You are NOT representing Judaism interpretation or view of the Torah. Only Judaism centers on life on Earth being the best place there is to be. L'CHAIM= To Life= fundamental for Jewish people.. We are not looking toward an afterlife. We are trying to bring the world as it is closer to the world that "OUGHT" to be so the "ONE" can come down not so we can go up. Make the world better by making ourselves better.

    Is there a way to play the game wherein everyone benefits in a slow but steady arch over time? Wouldn't that be something along the lines of simple freedom? The freedom of interactions between individuals without an overarching force taking a mandatory cut (whatever the cut might be) from those interactions seems to fit the bill I'd say.

    God is the personification of the super-ego. Humans have "theory of minds" which means we think our mind and soul can transcend the brain and body. Therefore, we accept, as self-evident, that our lives begin a magic moment called conception and that we are immortal thereafter. Successful myths help us "believe" this delusional nonsense. Even very intellectual people that can not reject the narcissistic supply of the delusion, will believe in this uniquely human insanity.

      wemeoveonward: Where did I say what you falsely accuse me of saying? We are not very capable of using whatever science we have learned in purely benevolent ways. With the billions of solar systems and galaxies we can see, it is absurd to think we are the only animal with an ability to read, write and be extremely superstitious. I just hope those other planets higher forms of life have a lot less "bad psychology" and can truly be happy and live peacefully. Not going to happen for humanity.
