Its funny how so MANY have advocated for recasting Tchalla immediately after Chadwicks passing is wild when we still have yet to recast another iconic character BLADE in the new iteration has had MANY problems, its several examples of why a recast doesn't always prove to be the best solution for a franchise of films, Terrance Howard as James Rhodes aka Warmachine was a disgrace no offense to Don Chedal but we see how Marvel fumbled his character arc after recast, and given the new actor for blade Mahershla Ali looks the part we still dont know if he can menacingly play the role as well as Snipes has, give if it had been forced for Snipes to be recast mid his Blade trinity in early 2000s there would of been an uproar.... Marvel made the RIGHT decision and I trust the Director Ryan Coogler in abiding this decision to make a more compelling story and monumental film for the new Tchallas return to black panther
R.I.P to the one and only Chadwick Booseman T'chala but they honestly could just recast him as an alternate timeline until Secret Wars then follow up with the son as the main Black Panther after that.
Whoever the new t'challa is I wish they kept his genius traits from the comics. BP was really cool in the comics because he's a complete package. brains, brawl, and a leadership on top of that, a mirror of Wakanda's utopia.
Aging T'challa's son seems the most feasible. With interstellar travel so prominent in the MCU now, all they have to do is send his son on a mission or something to a system with a black hole far away and introduce some kinda time dilation logic so when he returns, he's much older. This also helps to keep a solid and meaningful connection to the 616 Wakanda and helps honour the original panther with future references. A new version means all the plot build up and potential developed so far would go to waste.
They could bring in a older battle hardened version of the son from the multiverse for Doomsday and Secret Wars, then use that same person as the MCU version for BP3. Shown he still gets the mantle, but is slightly different then the other one (the best of both worlds) Have him interact with Shuri given her a glimpse of the man her nephew will become. The Multiverse version can be noble and battle-hardened, maybe this version got the mantle too late indducating the Shuri needs to pass the mantle to the MCU version sooner post-Secret Wars.
I think Killmonger should be the new MCU Black Panther and age up Tachalla Jr and give it to Washington which would lead to a power struggle on who should be the real Black Panther and rule Wakanda.
The guy that played the main character in " The Purge" prequel. The one that took place in statan island Nyc. Don't know his name but he played the neighborhood gang leader that fought against the mercenaries. He would be a PERFECT T'challa......
My personal theory is that they are going to make The Black Panther and T'chala the Ancor Being for the main universe of the MCU. Part of Doomsday is gonna be about needing a new Ancor Being and pulling one from the multiverse. And T'chala JR will be apart of the Young Avengers team and will eventually, like all the other members of the Young Avengers, will take the mantel officially
I think the best way to honore Chadwick’s legacy as T’Challa and to continue the story Marvel should introduce a new live action character for Black Panther, whether it’s a previous owner in the lineage or his son via Timelapse. There is plenty of room to explore due to the Multiverse saga. Take a page out of Rivals storyboard and allow the multiversal characters were introduced to not only be from multiple universes, but time points as well. That solves the T’Challa issue as well as some additional cameos they’re looking to explore as well.
THEY SHOULD HAVE RECAST FROM THE DAMN START. at the very least soon as Chadwick passed (R.I.P) BP2 should have been put on hold indefinitely for a decent number of years. Now you have all this Hoop jumping nonsese with multiverse Mcguffin to course correct their poor choices.
Only acceptable candidates are Aldis Hodge, Damson Idris, and John David Washington. With Denzel being a part of it, I could see him playing his father from a multiverse Black Panther that he loses(along with his universe), which would cause him to move to the 616 Black Panther.
...this hurts different for ME because my mother lost her life a year to the day. So i can't forget it. Tchalla, Jr is the cutest little dude. Respect from Nashville Tennessee, Charlie. Keep up the great work.
I remember a while back when Chadwick Boseman passed away and some time had passed and know one knew what would happen with black panther 2, John Washington was on my mind as the recasting choice. I understand why they didn't wanna do a recast out of respect but I also didnt think it was fair for them to gatekeep a character for ever being casted because someone great had passed, giving no male actors a chance that wanted to be a black panther. It's like if ben affleck had passed and they decide they never wanna do a recast.

OR a grow up JR from another Universe I mean, Marvel AND the actors are too scared of Boseman's legacy that they most probably won't have a T'Challa SR around. As far as I remember, the character's illness was never explained. So they could explain that a Cosmic/Multiversal Event kind of killed ALL T'Challa SR (or just the Black Panther ones to avoid continuity nightmares with What If...?) from the Multiverse. They could make it an act from the Omnipotent Doom who's magic powers told him a T'Challa Black Panther would be the key to bring him down, then casted a spell to kill them all around the Multiverse to avoid his fate, not realising it was always supposed to be JR.
Wakanda Forever already confirmed that Killmonger is dead. So unless it's a variant from another universe, we won't see Michael B. Jordan as Black Panther.
Imagine a movie where you spend the entire first act with Kilmonger in the spirit lands talking with and redeeming himself in the eyes of his elders (possibly cgi Tchalla) through flashbacks and challenges. After 45 minutes or so he wakes up shortly after Namors attack. Then throughout the movie he learns about what Tchalla did since killing him and how he was wrong. Have him talk to shuri and mbaku they don't trust him at all but they know Tchalla would have given him a chance so they let him help on a series of missions both of war and diplomacy/charity. Finally at the end of the movie they let him wear the black panther suit along side shuri but he has no heart shape herb for now. You don't have to fully redeem Kilmonger you could leave space for a possible anti hero or villain turn later.
All respect to Chadwick and may he rest in peace… but thank you it’s about time that we see T’Challa’s story on the big screen.. more specifically i’d like to see him have a child with Storm and see that storyline play out. Although i would really love to see Michael B Jordan play the role of the new T’Challa (but i understand why that probably can’t happen) i think John David Washington would be phenomenal for the role.
Recasting the Black Panther is not complicated. It's not the first time an actor has died or quit. It's often done without even an announcement. The first person to come to mind is Daren Stevens on Bewitched. In his case, it was back pain, but they simply recast a lookalike. Christopher Reeves was recast, and they didn't ask all of the White world for permission. Just get on with it, and don't screw up the character with backflips.
A variant isn't a recast. A varient is a completely different character. Its a much smarter way to move forward with the essence of the character, without "replacing" him. When Chadwick passed, there was no mechanism to accomplish this in the MCU. Now there is. The Loki series created a narrative foundation on which to build this on that didnt exist in the MCU before. As much as I disagreed with recasting the existing character at that time, I am completely behind this.move. The actors who turned down the role where right. Now, instead of replacing Chadwick in some of Don Cheadle-esque twist, where we are supposed to "get over it", a new actor can now supplement what Boseman developed in a more organic way.
Another option could be leaning a bit more into the more spiritual side of things and make it so that T'Challa is reincarnated by the goddess because the threat is all too great for Shuri to handle on her own and so T'Challa is brought back but recast. I know they said they wouldn't recast Chadwick Boseman (may he rest in peace), but if they don't want to just make straight up multiverse variants, that's another option at their disposal, cause they've shown BP isn't only a technology/science based character, but also spirituality based one
people are forgetting in Black Panther 2 T'Challa had a son at the end of the movie who was also secretly named T'Challa so one would think in 3 he would be a teenager or in is 20's when the 3 comes out i don't think they would age him that much .
Haven’t seen his work yet but Ik that damson is known to flex his African/Nigerian accent whereas Aldis’s attempt at an African accent in the past hasn’t been that impressive however he sure does look like the black panther in the comics
Desmond Idris (Snowfall) is my personal fave. Dude has the look, great range, is classically trained and of Yoruba ancestry. He also has history w Leticia Wright and their chemistry is palpable.
I also wonder if this is a Cassie Lang situation, where they recast Young TC. Alternatively, it doesn’t have to be a recast “bad” BP. I think what we know is that there will be a war between 616 and a presumed other set of Avengers. What if Doom in the story is using them be telling them they must defeat the 616 to preserve their timelines? They don’t find this out until later, and switch sides. It maintains an image of the heroic BP that is defending his universe. If they were to kill him off in Secret Wars (because some have to die), he dies a hero and young TC has more time to age up for BP3, where part of the plot is assuming the mantle because Shuri is thought to be dead.
This is going to be interesting how will another Black Panther will enter the Main MCU, is it going to be another Wizard opening a portal or another Pym Particle Endgame Quantum Realm Travel, we will see!
I've heard that Marvel is looking for a younger actor to play a grown-up version of T'Challa's son from Wakanda Forever. Then again, Doomsday and Secret Wars are currently scheduled to release BEFORE the new BP film so maybe Marvel is also looking for a temporary T'Challa variant to participate in those two Avengers films and then T'Challa's son will be in BP3.
I was a huge Chadwick Boseman fan, and I'm black for whatever that counts. I think they should recast T'Challa. Actors are not the actual characters in any franchise. The character of Black Panther existed before Boseman was even born. Regardless, if we want to keep telling stories from our favorite fictional media, we can't permanently tie a character to a specific actor. Are we never going to have another Sarumon because Christopher Lee passed on? Are we going to make Luke Skywalker a CGI character in live action from now on? I think this stuff is silly. These are fictional stories. You must re-cast when it's necessary.
As much as I love Marvel for respecting Chadwick Boseman's and not being replaced.. the Black Panther Character has been stagnant but he is very crucial to the events that has been going on Phase 5-6
I think the MCU fans and the BP fans would've gladly waited until TChalla JR grew up in a way that felt authentic and not rushed… However, I think Damson Idris would do an amazing job. But I also think having John David and Denzel Washington in the same movie and the MCU at that would be so cool, especially for them as a father and son.
They can bring in a T'Challa variant from a timeline that was destroyed by Kang The Conqueror or the TVA. He can end up in the 616 timeline and obviously find out that timelines T'Challa passed away, then the movie can be about him proving himself to the 616 Wakanda
It’s crazy man it almost seemed like Chadwick was born for the role of Black Panther he was literally the perfect cast just like RDJrs Iron Man it’s crazy how the greatest talents go super young RIP Chadwick!
If you have multiverse T'Challa and Toussaint (the son) and Shuri all interacting and the new T'Challa having different memories and perhaps a slightly different ideology that could allow for some very interesting interaction between them.
I think a multiverse Black Panther is a great idea. They honored him by not replacing him immediately. Not sure who would replace him... everyone i can think of is older or played a marvel character at some point. Whomever it will be will have to do this role almost as well as Chadwick if not better if that's even possible.

_Rest easy king 🤴🏿🙅🏾♂️🙏🏾_
Lunchroom /Stair case fight scene will forever give me the chills
1:05 missed opportunity for tropic thunder footage 😉
Aldris Hodges would make a great BP. JDW is a great actor but he's 5'9. Hodges is 6'1.
His height is a bit of a red flag for me as well. Good actor but kinda short.
Another option could be leaning a bit more into the more spiritual side of things and make it so that T'Challa is reincarnated by the goddess because the threat is all too great for Shuri to handle on her own and so T'Challa is brought back but recast. I know they said they wouldn't recast Chadwick Boseman (may he rest in peace), but if they don't want to just make straight up multiverse variants, that's another option at their disposal, cause they've shown BP isn't only a technology/science based character, but also spirituality based one
people are forgetting in Black Panther 2 T'Challa had a son at the end of the movie who was also secretly named T'Challa so one would think in 3 he would be a teenager or in is 20's when the 3 comes out i don't think they would age him that much .
called it ❤🎉
Damson Idris (snowfalls Franklin saint) would be the PERFECT casting and I stand on that
I absolutely agree, but aldis hodge would also be a good pick
Haven’t seen his work yet but Ik that damson is known to flex his African/Nigerian accent whereas Aldis’s attempt at an African accent in the past hasn’t been that impressive however he sure does look like the black panther in the comics
He needs to bulk up to
@juanybeer1617 No he wouldnl't.
@ shouldn’t be a problem actors are known to get into shape for certain roles
I'm all for Denzel's son to be the aged up T'Challa Jr. Bring it on! Love it!
Denzel son, John David Washington is a damn good choice. Chadwick is irreplaceable.
Damson Idris would be the best imo. Didnt agree at first but I understand it now. Imagine Denzel's son gets the role because hes in Black Panther 3.
Clicked so fast I think I created a mobius strip
12:25 Kirk Lazarus hands down. Amazing actor that could really make a come back the same way Brendan Fraser did.
Desmond Idris (Snowfall) is my personal fave. Dude has the look, great range, is classically trained and of Yoruba ancestry. He also has history w Leticia Wright and their chemistry is palpable.
I think Wakanda is East Africa. Aldis Hodge should play the role. He is a fellow Carolinian like Chadwick.
RDJ going full Wakanda lol... I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude!
Charlie! I been watching this channel for 10 years! Happy Anniversary lol
That's awesome, thank you for the support!
This is going to be interesting how will another Black Panther will enter the Main MCU, is it going to be another Wizard opening a portal or another Pym Particle Endgame Quantum Realm Travel, we will see!
Before Yaya got the Wonderman gig, I thought he would’ve crushed this role.
Wow! Marvel does actually listen to the fans.
As much as I love Marvel for respecting Chadwick Boseman's and not being replaced.. the Black Panther Character has been stagnant but he is very crucial to the events that has been going on Phase 5-6
Wouldn’t be mad if they pulled a DBZ Trunks arc where T’Challa Jr comes from the future lol
Aldis Hodge is the perfect person to carry on the legacy Chadwick started.
RIP Chadwick Boseman.
He will always be remembered as the Black Panther.
Trevante Rhodes, Aaron Pierre, Aldis Hodge, or Derek Luke would be good fits imo
I like Trevante Rhodes for T’Challa too. Aldis actually looks like Chadwick
JD is my dream cast for Black Panther. RIP Chadwick Boseman, you will be missed forever.
Have a heroic Killmonger variant be the new Black Panther. MBJ is an unbelievable actor.
They can bring in a T'Challa variant from a timeline that was destroyed by Kang The Conqueror or the TVA. He can end up in the 616 timeline and obviously find out that timelines T'Challa passed away, then the movie can be about him proving himself to the 616 Wakanda
Exciting to have Black Panther back RIP Chadwick Boseman 🙏🏻
Ryan Gosling: "This is my big chance!"
