The new recorded version of this incredible tale was a long time coming. As so many listeners have pointed out in the comments, the audio and the narration quality of the previous version of this story featured on this channel is not at par and leaves a lot to be desired and I totally agree with that assessment. Hopefully, this new improved audio version will remedy the issue. Thank you!
This version is much improved qualitatively... You are now my favorite reader of audiobooks...but... I thought you were excellent the very first time I heard your voice...Mr. Singh, you have achieved master craftsmanship with this re-read...🙏
It may have been different, or "lower quality" to some; but YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THIS: Those are peoples opinions, and it's easy to take constructive criticism the wrong way. Hopefully there weren't any bad intentions in those opinions. Even if there were, you should realize that they are saying those things from behind their keyboards and anonymously. None of the people who said anything are content creators, and I'm almost positive that no one who listens to your narrations could come anywhere close to doing it better than you. It's easy to misinterpret constructive criticism, and I just wanted to make sure that you didn't. YOU'RE AWESOME, and if anyone speaks negatively of you or your work, IGNORE THEM. They're either jealous, mean, or just plain dumb. You have a gift, don't EVER let anyone's words keep you from sharing it with the world. Thank you again A
@@jamess3241 He felt he needed to re-do it. It's not a matter of people being dumb or jealous. The content creator can tell the volume was low, and not up to his standards. I listen to your reading of these Corbett stories every night I am out in hunting camp. Really, I am a fan of your reading style and found nothing wrong or disconcerting with the original recording. It all sounded so very authentic. Bravo. I will listen to this one today while I work.
I still read the books of Jim Corbett with the same enthusiasm as I did while reading for the first time Hats off to the people who have made audio 👌👌✌️🖐🏿🖐🏿🖐🏿🖐🏿
I love about Jim Corbetts written was the paranormal experiences he had like screams coming from a village where he knew no man was in several times and the famous lights over a mountain. He never goes into detail on these he simply shares his accounts of what he heard / saw.
If you are interested in scholarly discussion of the paranormal events in Corbett stories, I suggest you to read the book "Behind Jim Corbett's Stories" available on the internet. There is a Champawat bungalow, the scream from the empty Thak village, lights aver the Purnagiri and many other, plus the photos of the killing sites, and sometimes photos of the living relatives of the man-eater from Kumaon villages.
Thank you for the updated version of this ageless classic. Jim Corbett was a fine example of a man. A man of honor! There's a reason his name graces India's first national park.
I have always been fascinated by these Indian jungle stories and Jim Corbett remains my favorite author. Thank you Mr. Singh for these digital tributes to the memory and deeds of this great human.

I started listening to you more than an year ago. Thanks for the videos. I grew up in garhwal, the place where most of Corbett's adventures happened. Living away from home, your narration and corbett's writing gives a sense of home. Thanks
Ohh, your accent doesn't give a hint that you were born here. Thought you were 2nd or 3rd gen American. Recently visited rudraprayag and places reminded me of your narrations, some still remember Corbett there. Anyway cheers to Uttarakhand's heavenly beauty
Thank you again Apratim. Viewers may also be aware of man-eating tiger(s) currently operating in Pauri Garhwal that has left 2 dead (1 half eaten) and 2 foiled attempts (machan and goat, just as Corbett did 100 years ago) at capturing the 2 tigers believed involved. They think bigger tigers are chasing out the younger tigers (growing population in Corbett National Park....it's beautiful that the population of tigers is increasing so much, but now we have these problems) and they are hungry, starving, and wandering into villages now.
Thanks for your comment Dr. Jordania! It just occurred to me that you're one of the co-authors of Behind Jim Corbett stories. I have read both volumes piecemeal. The amount of research and acholarship that went into them is admirable. I thought the name sounded familiar but I couldn't quite place it. Well, thanks for sticking around and listening to these audio versions of stories that no doubt you're very familiar with.
Your voice is literally the best and I appreciate you editing in animal sounds instead of just leaving it up to our imagination, especially in another video where you talked about how lone jackals cry differently than those in packs and actually played the sound so i didn't have to dig it up myself. You speak so clearly and slow enough I don't miss any words but fast enough I'm not bored, which is a big problem I have with a lot of audiobooks. I really appreciate your content and can't wait to see what you make next :D
Had a Leopard in our neighborhood two months back and now a Tiger and a leopard operating in our town called Mhow (Cantonment). Iam a wildlife photographer (Rajiv Gaikwad) , a converted Shikari😊 !!
This is what got Jim Corbett noticed and eventually he got approached to hunt more maneaters in an official capacity. Tigers are extraordinary creatures. Terrifyingly powerful and supremely intelligent.
the original was what led me to your channel. and since then you've only gotten better, i hope you continue with these and your channel grows. because this kind of content is very much needed and amazing.

Thanks for the comment, jeffrey! I agree with the first statement ofcourse. To your last point, Corbett himself admits in the preface to the book from which this story is taken from, that a tiger takes to man-killing only due to either an injury from a careless gunshot or old age.
Corbett really was full of youthful exuberance during this hunt. It made him take bolder risks, allowing him to bag this tiger rather quickly. His later hunts dragged on for months sometimes. Maybe he became more risk averse as he gained in experience as we all do!
You might have a point there! Although I do think that Jim got lucky with the Tahsildar's help and the presence of so many men during the final beat. Something that would not have worked for the Rudraprayag leopard, just as an example.
The maneater deaths where only put down to the tigress if they had signs of being fed upon many died without providing a meal for the maneater the figures could be a lot higher
