what's your advice for staying safe driving up too Tahoe when it storming?
AWD, good snow tyres, use the snow settings on the gearbox, don't acceleration or brake too hard. Going downhill, change down and use the engine to keep your speed slow and steady, not your brakes.

What all the boys said below. If you frequent Tahoe you NEED All terrain tires or better + AWD, its pretty gnarly.

@@dboytheoriginal2626 There is a big difference between snow tires and all-terrain... the all-terrain are for getting around in snow and rain slush mud dirt when a profile on the tires help, but for ice you need metal studded tires or chains on snow tires... snow tires have a softer rubber compound and a lot of sipes so they don't freeze up and get hard in the cold, but when it gets cold you really need metal studded tires or chains, no tire without metal studs or chains will get you over ice or black ice without slipping even if you have AWD or 4x4... I learned the hard way. Even a Jeep will spin out and potentially kill or seriously injure you and total your vehicle on ice and black ice even on on a clear day. The police will be checking cars for the mountain and snowflake symbol on your tires and won't let you through with just all-terrains that don't have that... mountain peak and snowflake symbol...
