During the social dancing where the band, Jonathan Stout and His Campus Five featuring Hilary Alexander (who started the event 25 years ago) played, this contest happened! They also taught classes during the weekend.

This dance looks like so much fun that it shouldn't be a competition. It should be something EVERYONE should do every Friday night. (Having said that, I was amazed at the talent of all of the performers.)
I do it every Wednesday! Try searching for "swing dancing near me" and see what you can find. I started this channel to host the videos for the website of a monthly calendar of swing dances.

But yeah, these guys are all some of the best in the world, but most cities have Lindy communities and the barrier to entry is very very low. Just show up and start dancing.
@@antonliakhovitch8306 Yes, but I didn't say there was anything wrong with competitions. Obviously, it was just one way of saying this looks like a great Saturday night. As for me dancing, doesn't it require a partner? I've never had any luck showing up for dance classes or groups without a partner, of which I am currently lacking. But it's great to know these are likely out there in my city. Maybe some day. Thanks!
My Mom was a 'Lindy Hopper' back in the day. She taught my sister and I her two favorite moves - the 'Shorty George' and the 'Suzy Q'. I'm 75 now, and I still do them to this day.

The way I audibly gasped at 3:47. Like they did so much and just went above and beyond... just the speed they went at. It almost seemed second nature. You could see a lot of moves coming but that was just so fast and they did it so easily I was genuinely shocked. Bravo

I used to dance with the Mama Lu Parks Lindy Hoppers in NYC (I tap danced between their numbers) and since living in AZ I haven't found the swing dance community. This is the first time I found a Swing Dance in Phoenix! AWESOME!!!

Yeah, as a follow who doesn’t like going upside down, I would prefer if ariels were a separate category and limited in mix and matches
O how I miss this - was part of the revival in the 1990s, so glad that so many people keep this amazing style of dance going. And then there’s the fantastic, joyous music. Wonderful stuff,

I love Niles and Bianca but it's clear which won IMO the judges got this right on. Finesse plus power and creativity is what made the difference. If it was only power, speed, and creativity... Sure, but the smooth and organic execution of AJ and Gaby made the difference. They looked at ease

Sometime after the release of Swingers my bestie suggested we learn swing dancing, so we did. This reminds me of that and how people we knew had no idea that we could swing dance at all till we showed them and were the life of the party.
