Just wanted to ask that!! I was in Japan in 2016 and wanted to buy a plant.... but remembered that I isn't allowed to have them in your case or backpack. Tell us please~~~~
If I was in that market, I would be doing some on the fly research on what hoops I would need to jump through to bring those plants home! I am drooling over those bare root Whale Fins (The variegated one!!! 😵😭) And those shingling plants growing up the planks of wood. Gah!!
Chatuchak is an amazing market. Been lucky enough to visit last time I was in Bangkok, but it is sad to see several orchid species that were obviously taken from the wild being sold there. I know that it is a very delicate topic, since they are the livelihood of entire families, but cannot help but feeling sad that not enough is being done to raise awareness in different parts of the world for this problem.
This's one of the coolest plant vids I've seen. Everyone of us who watches this will trudge disappointedly to our local markets and shops for the next few weeks
First of all a big thank you for sharing this wonderful world of plants. A night market for plants beautiful idea. Little beauty sanseveria cleopatra ,big cactus, hoyas I like them all very muh. See u tomorrow. Good night. .
Omg! Finally you came to Bangkok (my city). I’m your huge fan. I learned how to love plants by watching your videos. Right now I have around 15 different plants in my room. 😉
Wow! and more wow! I would be having heart palpitations and trouble breathing from all of the beautiful plants that I was seeing and then thinking to myself how sad that I couldn't bring a big chunk of them home with me, my goodness the plant life in Thailand is amazing. Thanks so much Summer this is breathtaking to be able to see.
The Chatuchak Plant Market is extremely high on my bucket list. The many varieties of Sansevieria would all be coming home with me. Lol. You should definitely get yourself a Cleopatra. So easy to care for and such great rewards of continuous beauty. Thanks for posting. Enjoy the rest of your time in Thailand!!!
It’s really best that one visits a huge market like this to explore and not buy. Treat it as you would an art museum, so you can take in the fascinating beauty and novelty, without intrusive thoughts of acquisition. If you do want to buy then make two separate visits. The first to make purchases, with a shopping list, or at least a general idea of what you’re looking for. Then make a return visit only to look and enjoy, not buy. I’ve done this with large nursery’s. This is also my strategy with big orchid shows, like Philadelphia and San Francisco. It really makes for a more enjoyable experience. ~ If I had to choose, I would have purchased a couple of the caudiciforms you showed. That’s becoming my new obsession.
When I go to shop, I typically have that list of what I'm looking for so it's easy in, easy out, because otherwise I find browsing and shopping intensely draining. I think by chance, because I wasn't buying anything, I inevitably was following your exact suggestions-treating it as if in a museum, which is an excellent suggestion!
Visited this plant market last year & went bonkers just looking & admiring all the awesome plants. The vendors there also sell plant accessories, soil, etc - actually they sell everything related to plants.👍
How you managed to talk at that market is amazing. I was speechless watching this and seeing all those incredible plants. I'm so glad you are making this series as I'm heading there soon.
Thank you so much. How did you not grab some ( not steal). How could you not go insane seeing all these gifts of Mother Earth. I love all kinds of cacti.
I'm one of the Sanseviera fans that are up in arms 🙈 So that's where you'd find me. It was so great seeing your kid at Disneyland joy in the market. Great episode! 😊
Same here! The growth habit of Sansevierias and Dracaenas are so different (foliage straight up out of soil v. Growing from a stem or trunk) they need their own category! Also, it was only this year I learned the Latin name for Sansevierias...and my auto-correct just FINALLY learned to recognize the word. I don't want to have to start all over!
i grew up going to chatuchak since i was a kid... now this video TOTALLY blew me off! i am soooooo definitely going on tues nite! gosh, soooo tempting to buy to my heart content and wow! love from singapore
Thank you so so much summer...I have been to chatuchak market in 2012 once, but didn't know there is a market for live plants. I am sad but same time happy that I have found a reason to go again.Love from India
It was delightful seeing you frolic in Hoya blooms galore. :) Hoya mindorensis is btw native to my home-country. And, wow that dimsum-shaped plant pocket was an interesting see. Anyway, thank you very much as always. We're enjoying your Bangkok tour. Can't wait to see more of it. :)
This is the very first clip that I saw and I’m hooked! Normally I’m there to look at the cacti... as Tuesday is the day for the unusual & rare ones. But after seeing this clip, I’m thinking of getting Hoyas... LOL
What an amazing market! I would have to pick up a cactus or two, a verigated monstera deliciosa, a stefania erecta tuber... and some beautiful palms I saw in the background. Thanks for the great video! 💚
Thanks a lot Summy for showing an overview of such wonderful plant market. I like Hoyas n other hanging plants. Thanks for sharing such healthy n wealthy information...from Mumbai India.

Wow!! What a breathtaking and gorgeous bunch of plants. I would buy one of everything. Thanks soo much for taking us on this journey. Looking forward to tomorrow’s 💚
Can you talk more about buying plants while traveling? Specifically customs rules around taking/bringing plants?
yes do it
The vendor needs to give you a phytosanitary certificate, endangered or protected plants need special permits
Took the question right outa my mouth! 👍🏼
Also plants need to be bare root
Just wanted to ask that!! I was in Japan in 2016 and wanted to buy a plant.... but remembered that I isn't allowed to have them in your case or backpack. Tell us please~~~~
"I'd have such a plant habit here" says the girl who has a few hundred plants growing in her NY apartment. Soo cool 😊❤
I beleive its over 700 plants lol
I cracked up when she said that😂
came here to say this hahaha
I don't know how you can stand it. I'd be dribbling and having seizures not being able to bring alot home !!!😊👍🌴
Same lol 😭😭
I live in the neighbouring country to thailand and I can never find these 😢
So true
right!! i wonder too
If I was in that market, I would be doing some on the fly research on what hoops I would need to jump through to bring those plants home! I am drooling over those bare root Whale Fins (The variegated one!!! 😵😭) And those shingling plants growing up the planks of wood. Gah!!
Same thought 😂
"I'm not gonna buy any plants." I tell myself that all the time but it never works for me 😆
Chatuchak is an amazing market.
Omg it’s so hard to travel and see all the plants you want and can’t bring home 😭😭😭 thank you for the field trip Summer!!
My jaw dropped seeing those variegated ZZs!! Wow!!
This's one of the coolest plant vids I've seen. Everyone of us who watches this will trudge disappointedly to our local markets and shops for the next few weeks
Now that is a plant market! You could spend hours and hours there. I really enjoyed this.
Holy plants! Its like plant heaven right there, I would not be able to control my plant buying habits...
We normally use crane to move the big tree in and out the market here in Thailand :)
Thanks for the input!!
I thought so. Lol
That is a lot of hard work.
I'd love to watch that as it's being done. Of course I'd be holding my breath the whole time.
Wow!
First of all a big thank you for sharing this wonderful world of plants. A night market for plants beautiful idea. Little beauty sanseveria cleopatra ,big cactus, hoyas I like them all very muh. See u tomorrow. Good night. .
