Today June 18th at approximately 2pm I arrived at your hotel and paid for a day pass for my nephews first birthday/dinner. We were currently staying at the Riu and thought that going there would be a good idea. Unfortunately to our surprise we were not only kicked out of the hotel but they didn’t want to give us our $5000 dollar deposit and they wanted to charge us an extra $24 American. They informed my husband as they were trying to kick him out that we were supposed to be out of the hotel at 9 PM. Alex the manager did not clarify that and we were under the impression that after the dinner we would be leaving. The service at the restaurant was extremely slow and our food was not served until 945pm when our reservation was for 830pm. There were two small children one of the age of one and the other 12. I informed our server that we would need food as soon as possible but of obviously that was not accommodated. The baby was upset and we had to leave, and upon arrival of my husband and Cousin going to the room to put the baby down for a nap they attempted to kick my husband out and to tell us that we overstayed our welcome and that we would have to pay extra and we were not going to be receiving the deposit back that we had given. We have stayed at many hotels around the world and this was by far the worst experience not only where we humiliated but we were appalled that they wanted to charge us more instead of giving us back our deposit. We have currently just arrived at our hotel at 11:30 PM it took over an hour to rectify the situation and for us to get our belongings out of the room of my relative. They had 5 security guards escorting us to the lobby which made me feel extremely embarrassed.
This has been our worst experience ever, with the reputation of Dominica Republic right now this is completely unacceptable.
I would appreciate if someone could contact me and compensate us for our losses.
