    Hey! Thanks for watching!
I'm Paula. I'm a former professional cook and overall eating enthusiast.
I started this channel because I love making dinner and I love eating dinner.. but mostly it's because all I've ever wanted in life is to have my own cooking show. When I didn't get a callback after submitting my tape to Food Network in 2003, I put that dream to rest for a while. Until I clued in, I can do it myself on RUclips!
I love sharing the tips I've learned from professional kitchens and tidbits from my holistic nutrition education. But mostly I just want to show you how to make dinner. (See what I did there?) 😄
My cooking style is simple but flavourful. I cook with a lot of veggies but I'm not vegetarian. For me, a typical dinner is plant-forward, budget-friendly, non-fussy, and really delicious. As a step-mom, I make a lot of family-friendly comfort food, as well as a lot of simple, realistic dinners for one (or two).

Hey there! This is my first attempt at a product review video. I think I'll be able to give a more in-depth review after I've been ricing around with this thing for a few months, but so far so good! How many of you have rice cookers? Do you love them? Do you make anything in them other than rice?

There’s nothing like the rice you get from a good rice cooker. They can be expensive but well worth it. Your curry looks delicious!

Shortly after you posted this video I received my first rice cooker as a birthday gift. I love it. It is perfect rice every time. I can’t say that about my stove top rice making skills, or worse yet, boil in a bag rice. The rice cooker will be very helpful when I brew homemade Makgeolli, a Korean rice wine.

I like Hot Thai Kitchen too. I will binge watch that one and America's Test Kitchen all the time. I also watch a lot of cooking videos in other languages to practice listening skills and to see new foods and recipes. It's like traveling, but on RUclips lol 😆

I've been using a rice cooker for over 10 years now I think, totally worth it, pretty much flawless rice, doesn't take up an extra burner on your stove, a win win :) That curry looked incredible, I have to get me some fish sauce, never cooked with it before! Also then you mentioned Heidi and Thai cooking I knew immediately who you meant because I loved the episode you filmed that she guest starred on :)

Ahh you’ll become a fish sauce lover I know it! Ok and has it been the same rice cooker for 10 years?

@@HowToMakeDinner Love your enthusiasm thank you :) No I'm on my 3rd I had 2 cheap ones and then splurged on a better one and it's been solid for years now :) Also Amazon messed up and send me a bundle of 4 so I gave the rest to friends lol.

“A few sesame seeds” 😅. Thanks for the demo! I too have used a pot for years, and actually don’t use that much rice during the week. The automation seems super nice-definitely picking one up!

That rice looks absolutely perfect! Are you able to use a rice cooker like as a crock pot? Meaning, can you add the other ingredients for a recipe in with your rice to make it a one pot shop dinner? A huge mistake that I make is watching your channel while hungry 😂😂😂😂. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️

I have been using a sistema rice cooker that was only £10.00 takes around 14-16 minutes in the microwave, I also use it for bulgar wheat and (quinoa not a fan of quinoa no taste) I freeze the bulgar in small portions, and use it in salads, like other review where do you put it in a small kitchen.

Hi, just discovered your channel and love it. question: If I already have an instapot and can make rice (set it and forget it), I'm wondering what the advantage would be to also have a rice cooker? Thanks.

Hi! Yeah I hear you. It’s one of the reasons why didn’t buy one for so long! The main benefits in my mind are:
      1. The size is much more appropriate for a small amount of rice (it always felt kinda wrong to cook 2 cups of rice in a giant instant pot).
      2. I often want to cook something else in my instant pot, to eat with the rice. It might be full of chicken soup or yogurt or beans… and I want to cook rice to eat with it.
      3. The ‘keep warm’ function on a good rice cooker is AMAZING. I’ve been cooking rice at 2pm for a mid-afternoon snack and holding it warm until dinner time.
That being said, it is definitely a ‘nice to have’ and not a necessity for me. I’ve always done pretty well with stovetop rice too.
      All the best!
