I have this system on my BMW S1000RR. It’s a rock solid platform for luggage. Mine came with adhesive foam strips to seal the air gaps. Hope this helps.
That's great what you've done, Should email Hepco and see if they would amend their design as yours is clearly a better thought out way to do it.. I've been looking for some luggage solutions for my 2016 Tuono Factory and I think I will end up with this Hepco system and modifying it the same way, Did you figure out what you were going to seal round the opening at the bottom? Thanks for making the video.
I like what you've done, but it seems lazy from Hepco & Becker that they didn't think it this. I should not have to drill on a plate that costs 200 euros, when it's suppose to be a fit for a specific bike.

Where did you buy from mate?
Have you thought of anything for keeping out the damp??
I founds some foam strips in the kit which stick on the underneath of the rack and it seals it from any water ingress

Yeah the rack came with a thick foam seal which worked very well
