    I learned the russian adjectif endings in class but it was so badly explained that I didn't understand it.
    Then I read several explanations on websites but it was so badly explained that I didn't understand it.
    Now I saw this video and it was so well explained that I finally got it.

    Very well explained! Thank you for this. This is very difficult for English speakers because there is no equivalent concept in the language. Adjectives don’t change depending on the nouns it precedes. Native Russian speakers probably don’t even think about these differences they just know them inherently similarly to how French speakers know innately if a noun is masculine or feminine. However to think of these rules as one speaks is an enormous challenge. There are a lot of “if this… then that”. But this video is a great step in helping to figure that out. Thank you for your hard work.

    This helped immensely! One question - is Н the only soft ending (and is Н always soft)?

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  2 года назад +3

      Н is not always soft, it can be hard (like in the word сильный), you can see if it is soft in the dictionary, if the ending is ий then it is soft.

    In a word like "Международный", is it considered a hard stem when the stem ends in a "дн"? Otherwise, I don't understand why this doesn't follow the second case for soft stems that end in "н". Thank you!

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  4 года назад +1

      What rule do you imply?

    • @CLaDeaux
      @CLaDeaux 4 года назад

      Don't adjectives, whose stems end in "н", normally have "ий" for the masculine ending? Международный appears to follow the Hard Stem rule.

    • @CLaDeaux
      @CLaDeaux 4 года назад

      I just encountered another one - главный. I see that both of them have a Д or a В before the Н. Does that have anything to do with why they end in ыи rather than ий?

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  4 года назад +2

      The н is not soft in these adjectives, if the adjective ends in н, it doesn't mean that the ending will be ий, н should be soft.
