Plus, if we have any hope of seeing The Get Down come back for a season or 2 in the future, someone needs to have the money, which is approximately $120 million. I know that’s a lot more money than anyone can make in a lifetime, but it’s the best chance we have of seeing the show come back.
Baz Luhrman, the producer said Netflix was just not willing to go further due to the cost to produce it. This is coming from the director behind Moulin Rouge, Great Gatsby and Strictly Ballroom, all high budget films. I can imagine they intended this to be one movie and the story grew during development because the history of early rap cannot be sold by a single movie production. I think it is a masterpiece!
If they ever do a Fame reboot that's more faithful to the original movie and series from the 80s, she'd be a perfect Coco Hernandez, whom Irene Cara played in the 1980 movie, and Erica Gimpel played in the 1982 series.
i will never understand how this show got cancelled
It got way too expensive

@@FMKAnimation I looked it up on Wikipedia, and that’s exactly how much it costs to produce one episode alone

I like how Zeke and the bassist look at each other like; "What are we gonna do?" Then Zeke just hits it!

This may be the greatest first season of a show I have ever seen! Why did they have to get stupid with the second season and get cancelled.
The series had potential. It just wasn't given the chance to grow. It should be brought back.
Zeke looks like Prince during the For You era
Mylene deserve much more success
