Could the class-difference when hanging out be simply because these people don't meet? As an adult you make friends at work mostly and you're colleagues are likely to earn around the same money as you.
Everyone complains about salaries here. The salaries are typical of Southern Europe, certainly better than Greek or Portuguese ones. Also I've been in a number of European countries lately with lower salaries than Malta ... The real estate doesn't seem any cheaper in cities (cheap rent or property in God's middle of nowhere doesn't count).
@@AlexinMalta as I said it's relative. Malta salary is typical of what you get working in a southern European country. This is all information you can find on EU official statistics. Maltese salaries are typical of Southern European countries - marginally lower than Italy or Spain, and marginally higher than others. If you're working in Southern Europe, it's the type of salary you should expect, you're not working in Germany. Within the EU, Maltese salaries rank also somewhere in the middle.
I’m very sorry but the whole cost of living narrative is complete BS . cost of living has gone up on a global scale, Malta is country that imports from the UE if the cost of a product has gone up let say in it’s country of origin then guess what Sherlock ?? it is going up in Malta, the government of Malta has subsidised fuel, it is implementing FREE bus fares to curb traffic and above all Malta has free child care !!! I’m a Maltese living in the UK if you want to see what cost living going up looks like move over here. Point number 10 I completely disagree in Maltese culture hierarchy or wage gap does dictate social interactions this is because not too long ago no one had anything, Malta was flattened by bombings which resulted in a tight knit community mentality structure, even to this day 9 times out of 10 a whole street will know each other and everyone would be happy to help one an other when needed. No one would put there nose up at someone that earns less. Alex I believe you failed to mention this positive point but apologies if you have mentioned it already . Maltese people are extremely kind you find the odd idiot but in general if you respect the locals believe me they will respect you. One negative that you have not mentioned is the amount of (sorry for the word if it offends )foreigners moving to Malta and committing crime, burglaries have increased significantly since joining the EU and allowing more free movement , now of course local people will commit some form of crime however crime in Malta was extremely low home burglaries where almost non existent.now the island has a problem with Home burglaries and anti social behaviour last time I was over to visit I heard many locals claiming that they would not trust their children playing alone in their local park, the one that are like just outside your home, this was quite heart breaking for me as I grew up running around in field and playing in parks with no worry in the world with a sense of freedom. Talking about dirt let’s talk about the crazy amount of expats that drink canned beer just outside people’s communal door ways, yes that is the main entrance to a block of flats that would lead to someone’s home. After they finish with the booze guess what they leave behind ?? ( very disrespectful) Agree on the bin bags and yes definitely something that needs improvement especially around St. Paul’s Bay however this is not down to local councils people just need to follow basic rules. St.Paul’s has a daily been collection with designated days for recycling if people were following the simple instructions that are already in place whether expats or locals this would not be an issue. That is it from me I think the main point for me is when I moved to UK I acccepted the UK as it is, as guess what I am a guest in a country and British people do not owe me anything, I respect the local community and the laws of this land, if I have an issue with something I either try and find a solution to make it a better place to live for myself and my community or just accept that some things are just the way they are. Alex great video by the way !!!!
when you say everyone be happy..... Hmmm Maltese people Don't trust me. I'm maltese but I don't feel like maltese because I'm not having a bad mood like others maltese people! half of them is nice but half of them is not nice at all!

( very disrespectful)
Agree on the bin bags and yes definitely something that needs improvement especially around St.
Agree. When I go there God help anyone who I see littering or being disrespectful.
