This will be my forth BMC Teammachine SLR01, so I know what many of you will be thinking. However, this one has a different angle to it, which I'll explain in this video. This is the BMC Teammachine SL0R1 Two, with SHIMANO Dura Ace Di2 and DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 50mm rims.

Just a quick addition to the video, as this was shot prior...Michael Schär - who is referenced in this video and was a major attraction to the BMC content published on this channel late last year - has announced his retirement in the past 24hrs. So I wanted to congratulate him on a magnificent career, which isn't quite over yet! However, 18 years in the pro peloton is an unbelievable achievement and I am sure his infectious personality and sportsmanship has left an everlasting imprint on the sport. Chapeau!

I have an SLR02 Three 2020. By far the best handling bike I have ever ridden. No regrets. They are not well specced for the price but the fundamentals, frame geometry are great.

You can never have too many teammachines 😂 i’m a proud owner of a 2018 teammachine slr01 ☺️ current weight is 7.235 kgs 😁(with pedals, bottle cages, outfront mount, quadlock stem mount, front and rear light mounts plus the handpump mount) Best bike i’ve owned. Wifey has the 2022 teammachine slr03. She loves her bike too ☺️
I wanted to get my gravel bike Sram Force AXS the new model and then tried it on my friends new Specialized and decided to stick to my mechanical top grade GRX, seemed somehow better, smoother and Faff free. 🤘🏻

Too much good stuff Cam. Internally cracking up bc even though I do not race I just picked up a dang there new rm01. The race machine is oddly a supreme example of a great rimmer from 2014. It's not exactly set up as a race bike tho. Classic Dura Ace components, I added the Ksyrium Elite s for added aesthetics and performance. Not to mention the bike looks killer. Although you push state of the art equipment, I feel I share that BMC feeling with you! Congrats my brother, eat it up!
I still ride my 2004 BMC SLT01 (and a similar 2006 CX01), both with SRAM Red regularly. I don't need the latest and greatest (I am old and wouldn't get the benefit versus cost from anything newer), and I am perfectly happy to have these two old-school Skeleton Crosslock lug bikes to mix it up with my steel and titanium traditional bikes. Ride them in good health!

I have 5 bikes in the garage, and #6, my BMC SLR01 gets to stay in the house and treated like a queen. I put 1,058 miles on her last month (April). I've never owned a better bike.

I ponder how SRAM get MTB drivetrains so good, but Road so bad. Maybe the new force Groupset is better, but can’t see myself giving up Ultegra anytime soon.

By far, your best association Cam here-to-fore hasn't been with a bike brand but with Neill Stanbury who has elevated your channel and will say this, Neill is the best bike fitter if not on the internet, than in the world...Neill is encyclopedic on the subject.
As to your association with BMC, BMC is a good brand with little differentiation between other brands like Specialized, Pinarello, Trek and Giant, Cervelo and a plethora of other brands in a crowded field. Pick one. BMC makes a good bike.
History moving forward will judge how your 'sponsorship' will manifest any bias you show toward BMC at any noticeable deficit toward other brands.
For example, you expressed some level of personal disdain toward Sram Force and prefer Shimano. This may indeed be how you really feel...or...you want Shimano as a sponsor as well. Unknowable, and really doesn't matter. I prefer Sram over both Shimano and Campy and have ridden it all. I believe double tap is superior and that is my personal preference and prefer the larger surface land of Sram hoods which in theory decreases psi which is directly proportional to surface area. You obviously have had different experience but you aren't very mechanical, and I am the opposite.
As to indictment of the industry itself and all the disinformation out there the bike industry perpetrates...lets call it fake news...as an example, a competitor of yours, David Arthur, not too long ago exploded the myth of 'any' tangible aero advantage of so called aero bikes in the wind tunnel. His modest round tube TCR which is arguably the best cost effective race bike on the plant and costs 1/2 what your new BMC costs...Giant is known in this regard for framesets with high cost/benefit, his old TCR was as slippery as all the latest aero bikes including the new Trek Madone which looks like an alien space craft, with the same wheels. Tube shape doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of aero and aero other than weight is 99% of the equation of going fast on a bicycle.
The cycling industry is fraught with BS you mentioned. That is the problem.
Critical thinking people with a scientific background get it. For example, you don't build your bikes. You are a very good bike rider and know what feels good and fast to you. There is very little between any of the top bikes. As an engineer, I know how bikes are designed and tested and computer protocols involved and how competitive analysis is performed on competing brands to improve design. Marketing at the end of the day from Trek's latest race bike that looks like a F1 car to Specialized new Diverge with a goofy cable sticking out of the top tube which rides worse than previous Diverges due to ride bob due to pedaling shows how desperate the bike industry is to sell its product. A gimmick for an edge. Beyond a certain point, its marketing that resonates with more than half the buying public who flunked math in high school and are less critical thinking and swayed by 'sentiment'. Can't buy game...or very little game available for sale.
Good luck Cam. You are a good ambassador for the sport and why BMC wants to align with you for 'their marketing benefit' and most important, you want to provide for your family and there is no higher calling than that.

wow ... well hellafarkin louya, no more no name cn brand junk, I noticed the mechanic had nothing to say re defects build quality etc, now we're talking cam, you'll be the C in BMC (after Cadel)😉. I"m sure your content will give them an enormous boost in popularity as its not contrived but from the perspective of a real everyday cyclist. If you can snag a gravel bmc, there's enormous potential for capturing the beautiful nature around where you live. You're being paid to do what you love dude! Congratulations. Don't be afraid to randomly churn out some in the moment stuff as you've reached a level where your subscribers love your content. Its all bike culture.
I owned an SLR 02 and it was ok, but there are other framesets for less that are just as good. Honestly, I just don't understand the prices they are charging for a frameset. It is totally absurd. It is ALL marketing built into the price. I LOVE seeing the the maturing chinese frame makers (and groupset makers) increase the quality of their brands at a fraction of the cost of BMC. I love it when capitalism is done better by a socialist government (hahahahah)
Fantastic! Well done mate! I had the same issues with the AXS groupset - dropped chains and those hoods were terrible for me, especially when descending! Super uncomfortable. Have since changed to Ultegra di2.

Congratulations on your parnership, I love your content. I have a BMC bike which I have had for about three months now and I am very disappointed with the build quality of the carbon frame. I have had warranty claims with other manufacturers and compared to my other experiences BMC is not good to deal with. I do not think I would buy another BMC bike because of the bad experience no matter how good they may be.
I have a road bike buying problem too… I feel your pain. Just bought a Supersix and then found a deal on a Canyon Aeroad I just couldn’t pass up..

Another BMC TeamMachine . . . just how it should be.
I don't think it is problematic for any YTer to have a bike given to them or to have bike or other company pay them to make promotional videos. Viewers understand that, and GCN has done many entertaining and informative videos following this model. What is important is that the content is duly a identified as such. The "contains paid promotional content" banner, notes in the the description and the speaker mentioning that they were flown to x location by company y are all things that should be used for proper disclosure. It's when you try and pass promotional content for editorial content, that the reputation gets called into question.
What viewers want is to see interesting content, well put together, and not to be mislead. Product endorsements don't really carry much weight anyway, today. People buy what they like, for whatever reason.
That’s what I always say to my wife when I buy a new bike: “Thank You. This is all possible because of you …” . It only worked the first time 😂
If your sponsor was Eurobike I would have concerns. But BMC, rock on.

Ended up going with a Specialized Aethos Comp because the cards worked out right, but man in the future, i definitely would love a top spec BMC. Got to ride the SLR01 One for a work event and god damn was that thing amazing.
