Fred Paris and the Satins played at a local club in Walpole Mass almost every other month for years what memories. I want to go back to those days. Dr. Doo Wop.
One of my all time favorite songs, and to see them perform this classic is more than I hoped for!! They're great, pure magic, I adore them and this romantic song! 💙
Love The Satins. Saw them at a club on Long Island back in 1975 and asked Fred about this song - I was invited to the dressing room where I sang it with them as my backup !!! Imagine !!!
Wow.......This was the song right here..YES....I Know "In The Still Of The Nite" was The Five Satins 1st big hit in 1956...... But this song......"To The Aisle" was As good..... Loved them both......
On this day in 1957 {October 21st} the Five Satins performed "To The Aisle" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at #74* on Billboard's Top 100 chart, a little over eight weeks earlier it had peaked at #25 {for 1 week} and it spent 17 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #5 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart... The New Haven, CT quintet charted seven times on the Top 100, and three of those times it was with the same song, "In the Still of the Night", the first time it peaked at #24 in 1956, then in 1960 it reached #81, and finally in 1961 it entered the chart for one week at #99... Their seventh and final charted record was "Memories of Days Gone By", it peaked at #71 in 1982 under the name, Fred Parris and the Five Satins... * According to Billboard, the week it was at #74 it was tied with two other records, "Goody, Goody" by Frankie Lymon and "So Rare" by Jimmy Dorsey...
Wait a minute right here................................This song is music at it's best. Sing, dance do whatever you want. This song has IT ALL...............................................
+David Johnson the liner notes on my CD of the 5 Satins explained that Fred Parris was drafted right after "In The Still Of The Night" and was in basic training at the time of the original recording.
