Mona Lisa - Why so Famous?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 июн 2024
- The Mona Lisa is widely considered the greatest portrait of all time. It appears in countless advertisements, has inspired poetry, sculpture, forgeries, and theft. But seriously, why? The painting is small, only 30 x 21 inches, the color is somber, the background seems desolate and eerie, and the subject isn't anyone historically significant. So, what is all the brouhaha about? Is it really all about her mystifying gaze and a quirkly smile? Well, let's take a closer look.

My friend Ahmed says that it mostly creeps him out the fact that she is not wearing a hijab. What do you think?
Its magnificent
It is scary and beautiful at the same time
I think the smile is just simply of a woman politely smiling for a painting as we would for a photo. I don't see why their has to be some amazing theory behind it.
I think the reason why it is so significant is because, if you watch at 50 seconds in, you will see everyone has an extremely stiff, flat mouth and body. I know back in the time of Leo, he would have to have a life model in which one would have to remain extremely still. Which is why a stiff looking profile painting would made his painting process simplified. Having your arms crossed and keeping your smile consistent for months end is an accomplish to do, let alone paint. The guy already was making history with her pose alone because of it's realism. Adding a smile was just a preference for him and completely bonkers as far as work on the painter and model. This is what I am assuming lead to all of those crazy theories on the smile. Just a speculation, though, I am no art historian.

The painting is famous because when you focus your eyes on her mouth, she does not seem to smile but when you look at her eyes, she seems to smile. That is the reason why many people are so fascinated with this painting.

After 500 years the world will treat us the same way like Mona Lisa
Let me confess....I am watching Mona Lisa of several years, perhaps since my childhood, when my father introduced her as the 'greatest painting'. However, as a small child I didn't find the painting attractive, special or great. I thought, may be, I am too young to understand the value 'grown-ups' 'see' in this great painting of all times. Later, as an older kid and then as a teenager, later as a young man and now as a mature adult I am re-visiting the painting with hope-I will see the greatness, I will understand the greatness.....I listened the scientific reasons why it is beautiful, I understood all the theory why it should be great and why it is great. With out this knowledge I would have never understood the greatness though. If I saw this painting in a subway station or in our local library I would have never ever considered it great if I didn't get a chance to listen this RUclips video. Sanal Madhusudana Girija
Im impressed that after 4 years he still knew what he thought about drawing in the first place...

The mona lisa was/is unique due to the fact that your mind can translate her state and feeling to that of yours so if you look at her while you are happy (or feeling nothing special) she will appear as if smiling but if you are depressed then she looks like she is about to cry and the fact that her eyes are drawn in a way that makes it look like its following you....so to sum it up its like shes a human that shares your feelings but stuck in a portrait
this comment was writen a bit after I was born r u still on yt
Does anyone want to hear the true story of how it was made:
Leonardo actually had it finished but for some reason he couldn't get the smile of the lady right...
Too much hype . unimaginable hype. Even Leonardo would be laughing to see such madness. It's just a normal painting from genius. Art should be acknowledged for its astheticism. But let's stop there, too much of anything is foolishness.
I think it’s because of that story “he tried to make her laugh” thing
Now it is 2019....
Still mona lisa painting is so mysterious...
@30inventionman Such things are generally reserved for law enforcement and medical students. Luckily, many of Leonardo's anatomical sketches are readily available so you won't need to go through all the dirty work.

Very solid analysis on the painting for the composition and significance of how this painting changed it all. The blurry background is very significance. Hard to know how the painting originally looked at this point.
@loftaustin I was just joking, but the theory doesn't really hold water since the subject of the painting has actually been identified. It's one of those cases where you have to ask which is more likely, a feminized self portrait to act as a historical red herring, or the work of an artist who made his living by commission.
The most amazing thing of monalisa is that when we move throught the room without moving our eyes from the Mona Lisa her eyes seem to follow us!!!

There have been artists today who have stated the apparent over rating of this portrait. Thats very easy for them to say after 500 years of artistic evolution. This was painted 500 years ago and in my opinion will never be surpassed by these hyper realists who if born in leonardos time would have been unable to equal leonardos achievement. It is and will always be the finest portrait of all time BECAUSE it towered above its contemporaries. No artist today has achieved that and hyper realists are becoming commonplace.
The tits look wrong though

The painting is popular cuz....SHE HAS NO EYEBROWS....ehem, thats what i have been told in art school
She had eyebrows when this painting was first completed. Some layers of painting are missing now due to restoration attempts and time. I think it's famous because of the simplicity, mysteriousness, and contrast...Also because of how revered it was by the people who saw it in its full beauty.

The Mona Lisa...It was (and still is) objectively true and provable that the Mona Lisa did not have an obvious smile before the recent revision. There are still published articles on the Internet accurately describing the Mona Lisa's enigmatic 'uncatchable smile' and everyone clearly remembers that she did not have this obvious grin on her face. In an article published just last year, for example, the writer noted that the smile could not be seen when looking at the mouth of the Mona Lisa, which was described as having a 'downturn'...only by gazing away from the mouth could the viewer perceive the smile. That's how subtle it was. The revised Mona Lisa possesses no subtlety whatsoever and everyone knows this is a blatant contradiction. Here's a snippet of an article I easily found in less than five minutes to support what I'm saying: From ScienceNetLinks the article was titled "The Mona Lisa" _ ..."The secret behind the Mona Lisa is that the "happy" part of her smile is actually buried in a low spatial frequency pattern. So if you're not looking directly at her mouth, her smile looks cheerful. But when you look directly at her smile, parts of it disappear into the background. As a result, you're never quite sure if she's smiling or not." _ See what I mean? And this kind of article still exists all over the Internet. HOW could anyone look at the revised Mona Lisa and claim that 'you're never quite sure if she's smiling or not'? The practical importance of the Mandela effect is that the Internet is now under the total control of revisionists and is no longer a free and reliable source of information. The ability to ban the authentic Mona Lisa proves that.
Mystery of the Mona Lisa’s smile solved: Second painting shows how da Vinci created an optical illusion to trick viewers
•Discovery of second 'uncatchable smile' suggests illusion was intentional
•Study looked at La Bella Principessa, painted by da Vinci in 15th century
•It found da Vinci expertly blended colours to exploit our peripheral vision
•His illusion relies upon the viewer looking indirectly at the portrait's mouth
By Ellie Zolfagharifard For Dailymail.com Published: 17:52 EST, 19 August 2015 |
The Mona Lisa's mysterious expression may have captivated the world, but hers isn't the only enigmatic smile Leonardo da Vinci created.
Researchers examining an earlier painting by the Renaissance master claim to have unravelled the painter's secret to creating an 'uncatchable smile'.
The study reveals how La Bella Principessa, painted by da Vinci before he completed the Mona Lisa in the late 15th Century, uses a clever trick to lure in the viewer.
The study reveals how La Bella Principessa, painted by da Vinci before the Mona Lisa in the late 15th Century, uses a clever trick to lure in the viewer. By expertly blending colours to exploit our peripheral vision, the shape of the subject's mouth appears to change according to view point, researchers found
When viewed directly, the slant of the mouth is distinctly downwards, according to the research by scientists at Sheffield Hallam University and Sunderland University.
As the viewer's eye wanders elsewhere to examine other features, however, the mouth appears to take an upward turn, creating a smile that can only be seen indirectly, much like the Mona Lisa's.
'As the smile disappears as soon as the viewer tries to 'catch it', we have named this visual illusion the 'uncatchable smile,' researchers Alessandro Soranzo and Michelle Newberry of Sheffield Hallam University wrote in a paper published in the journal Vision Research.
When viewed directly, the slant of the mouth in the Mona Lisa is distinctly downwards. But as the eye moves elsewhere to examine other features, the mouth appears to take an upward turn, creating a smile that can only be seen indirectly
This suggests da Vinci’s technique specifically relies upon the viewer seeing the mouth with unfocused eyes in order for the smile to appear.
How does one revise a centuries-old oil painting?
Vgamer311 I'd say there's only two ways it could be done: 1. Through 'supernatural power' (like an act of God, a reprogramming of 'The Matrix' or the manipulation of Time / Dimensionality through super-science). 2. The more mundane method would be the "1984" type revisionism of the historical record done by controlling the institutions of society and expunging the artifacts and records of the past by using a large 'Ministry of Information' which includes possibly millions of members to do the job. **********************Of these two possibilities, the second one makes more sense based on the current evidence. The 'Ministry Of Information' is a vast conspiracy of people controlled by something called The All Seeing Eye. Each of these people is mind-controlled in a very Orwellian fashion and they are all 'expert liars'. They perpetrate vast hoaxes through history and control all governments and media. Because this is so hard for the avergage human to comprehend most people choose to ignore things like 'The Mandela Effect' or the fake news hoaxes. Here's what Adolf hitler said about the conspiracy which he was a part of: “In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes.” -ADOLF HITLER, 1925
So just to clarify, you're pretty much saying you believe Big Brother is real and they orchestrated all sorts of historical events and fabricated much of history, and for some reason part of their grand scheme includes making the Mona Lisa's smile more obvious? I know I sound like I,m being sarcastic but I just want to make sure that really is what you think.
Vgamer311 I made a video to explain it because I know it's hard for people to fathom. "Fahrenheit 666 The illuminati Documentary"

ok so, if you take 30 + 21 it equals 51 (the mona lisa was a 30 by 21 so that’s why those numbers are being added)
mona and lisa are 4 letter words. so if you take 51 and divide it by 4, you get 12.75, right? yeah. so if you add those digits, you get 15. and the painting was 30 inches tall. flip 30 you get 03. and the painting was made in 1503.
weave snatched what?
weave snatched HOW DO YOU ADD 12.75 you get 15?
