I love this song, the video is on fire!! Directed by Brian Grant, who directed the Physical video album ! I wish ONJ would’ve done an album with songs like this. The B side of the Soul kiss single had the same kind of energy! It’s called electric and it’s a jam!
I'm surprised that "Electric" was not released as a single itself as it was so different to anything Olivia had done up to that period - the electronic sound was so unusual... And that bridge "I never thought I'd want this kind of affection You are the exception Oh, no" so powerful...
This song is very apt for the "Desperate Times" we have been in for the past 2 years isn't it! Such a cool look for ONJ in this. It's a very "wordy" song and Olivia handles it with ease. One of my ONJ faves!
It always amazes me that this living in desperate times was the same person who sang if not for you. Just shows how far and versatile she could handle any style or look and pull it off better than anyone!
Amazing song and video, ONJ's music is just like a treasure trove you still have so much more to enjoy. Please head to the Rumour album next especially Let's Talk About Tomorrow 😁
I knew you would like the video better when you just heard the song. Awesome! 10 across the board to you for your reaction. I just watched you reacting to it.😂😂. If you ever get a chance in the search box put in ...Anyone had a heart live at Greek theatre Olivia Newton John is the best live. Sound just like the record. I love this video Olivia was very cute here and so are you with your singing and being caught up in the video. Keep reacting
As if this day couldn’t get any better! Yeah! This is my absolute fav video of hers! If you want more choreography, check out The Rumour. It’s a huge fan fav and video is great. You probably have some list going for ONJ now!
absolutely 🔥 she's who i started with - my very 1st artist. i think i want to do the same thing i'm doing with madonna and start at the beginning with ONJ. there are so many layers to her💯
@@EmpressReacts Good plan. Just a heads up.. there are some good songs at the very beginning, but... it was a beginning so she hadn’t quite found her niche right away. She’s even said that first couple albums were a little all over the place as far as styles go. With that said... First real single from 71 is If Not For You, and it actually hit #1 on Adult Contemp chart, but a song called Changes is a real recommendation. From 2nd album in 72, and it was first song she had written to be in an album of hers.
Would you please react to "Queen of the Publication" from the Soul Kiss album? I'd say it has a similar vibe to "Livin' in Desparate Times." ruclips.net/video/-KCMreQP-W8/видео.html
Our gal sounds and looks fierce! This music video screams 80’s! As much as ONJ tried to appeal visually to the times, MTV always snubbed her (with the exception of the “Physical” video). I never saw this music video on MTV back in the day! I saw it once on a cable show called “Night Tracks” on TBS and once on a prime time show called “Friday Night Videos” on NBC! This song gave her the vehicle to sing in an aggressive rock stance! I loved her look particularly in this clip and “Twist Of Fate!” I wish she did a whole album sounding and looking like this! The video storyboard is interesting too with her and the dancers moving through their emotions! The director Brian Grant did many of the videos from the “Physical” album and always did right by her! I hope you react to “The Rumour” song and music video soon! You’ll love it💕
@@EmpressReacts MTV focused mainly on Rock & Roll! To them, Olivia was a country singer who transitioned to upbeat pop music but ultimately she was always in the”guilty pleasures” category! Despite being in the biggest movie musical of all time (“Grease”) and having the biggest single of the 1980’s (“Physical”), critics still dismissed her! It was not considered “cool” to like her! She remains insanely underrated! It was odd to me that Top 10 singles like “Heart Attack,” “Make A Move On Me” and “Twist Of Fate” were very obscure to MTV! VH-1 was kinder to ONJ and played many of these and less popular tunes/videos more consistently because she was labeled Adult Contemporary Music! It was frustrating that she wasn’t prominently featured on every music video show, across the board! Ultimately she truly paved the way for “Divas” like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey whose albums spawned multiple hit singles and whose music videos were heavily exposed and respected! Also she was one of the first singers who successfully crossed over from Country to Pop Music and paved the way for artists like Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Taylor Swift!
@@danpine786 🗣🗣🗣 yaaaas preach! I had only heard a few of her songs, but I was like what! Why is nobody celebrating and talking about this woman which is why I started these videos. I have to share my experience if hearing her musci for the first time and the appreciation of her golden voice💯
Great reaction beautiful! ONJ was definitely spicing things up here and I am also a fan of this era.
Same here!😍
One of the most 80s things you'll ever see!

Such a different ON-J from the 70s! I've always loved her voice. When she first came on the scene with her hit "If Not For You" people took noticed.
