Wow, ground zero for violin making! Always wanted to visit Italy; 3000 years of fascinating history.

This video and your story are very charming. I feel very similar at-home feeling about my time studying in Vienna, though I was not living there as long as you were in Italy. Rich musical history in both Cremona and Vienna. I went back to Vienna in 2019 for the first time since I lived there in 2010. Much has changed, but it still holds the same appeal to me. I hope that when the world gets a better handle on the pandemic and it's safe to travel and attend events like tradeshows again, there will be more opportunities to see and share that heritage with others. Hope you are staying well and healthy, Maestro!

Hello Lily. Thank you for your kind comment. It's alway a beautiful feeling to come back to a place with so many memories. Every time I go back to Cremona I get the same feeling. What did you study in Vienna?

@@maestrokimon I was there studying language and history. My major was German and Russian with a minor in linguistics, though I also studied many other languages in my school years. I've always had an interest to go to Vienna, as my adoptive father's family is from Austria. I've also been playing violin in folk groups and string ensembles since I was 7 or so, and it seemed natural to be in such a place, even though I stopped playing very seriously in university. I don't think I could ever give it up completely, because it has such a fond, home-like feeling to play and be surrounded by that kind of music. While living in Vienna, I also took a trip to Eastern Europe and visited Kraków, Budapest, and Prague, which was nice, since 2010 was "Chopin Year" :)

Thank you for sharing with us! We are learning so much from you. Our 10 year old is going to start her violin lessons on Saturday. We hope to purchase a better violin next year. Do you have any suggestions on what we should look for in a mid price violin? Once she gets better & we save some more in a couple of years we can possibly get one of yours.

Thank you so much for your kind words Mrs. Smith! It's difficult to give a suggestion on a violin to buy as I don't know where you live, your budget and where you are going to buy the instrument. As your daughter is ten (it's for here I suppose) I think that she needs a 3/4 violin. I had a look at Amazon and you could go for this instrument: amzn.to/2gDSgm2 or the cheaper amzn.to/2i5WBPg (these are affiliate links). I wouldn't go lower as the sound will be really poor. Good luck with this new experience!
