Every time I have done pointillism with pain I use the brush tip end, it holds more paint in it, and you can get very fine points to help with details.
Good video. Seurat took a scientific approach and actually measured out the exact amount of paint in each color he would use. I think if you're far enough away the painting turns white.
Great tutorial!:) It's so difficult to find any drawing/painting tutorials online that actually explains what to do... But you did it great!:D And your painting looks amazing!:)
Good tutorial. I've used oil, but might look into acrylic. I've also always used a 000 brush. Suerate used a brush because part of the technique was not simply color merging but also brush stroke direction. Finally, you might want to play with the background. I like to do my serious work on black gesso canvas. Sometimes I prepaint areas with contrasting color so if the area is going to be mostly yellow I will prime with purple.
Wow. Thank you so much for that tutorial . I work with ink . But I have always wanted to work with pointillism in paintings. But I was really intimidated . Thank you so much for your video. And that I can use arcylics medium. I have those types of paints but didn't know how to use them . This gives me a good idea. Thank you very much
I like your video! I know increasingly on the bases of the pointillism because it is in what I want to develop. Do you know Gabino Amaya Cacho? I have read that treats itself about a famous painter of Spain that it has developed the abstract pointillism and that his pictures are very costly in Euros, I would like to know yours opinions.
You give a good beginning but I was disappointed that you used speed dotting rather than taking time and patience to show and explain how to do the job 🙁
Christine Padua, you can do this with a photo or magazine page. For a photo, simply use a regular wooden pencil (not a mechanical pencil) and color in the back of the photo with a lot of graphite. Press down firmly when coloring to ensure you get enough graphite on page. Place the photo face-up on the surface (canvas, sketchbook etc.) and using another regular pencil, draw the outline of the image. It’s a version of tracing. When you lift the page, you will see the pencil outline marks you made.
Could you have put pin holes in your print then with a very thin mech. pencil made marks on your canvass thru the holes? This would probably take longer but you might get more detail. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks for this video! could you tell me where you have the information from? I‘m doing my graduation work about poitillism but I can‘t find good sources/books. Thank you!🤗
Very helpful tricks, thankyou so much for taking the time and effort to put this up.
The graphite image transfer just blew my mind. I love making art with acrylics but never had a formal training or classes. Thanks for the tip!

Gorgeous. I think your color wheel would also be great to frame. Love it.

Good job. Tq for the tutorial.
Honey all of seurat's paintings were in oil. So "this wont work in oil" is just a silly thing to say
Beautiful! But how do I trace the image on my canvas again? What tools do I need to do that? Thank you so much! You are so inspiring! :)
