I remember when FDNY first acquired that rig for Res1cuE, I was like "Wow, the FDNY is running a Pierce in their fleet. This is going to be big."
That is one sharp looking rig. I wish they had more Pierce rigs.
Agreed all the way!!
I agree. I dig Pierce. That’s all we have at the Firehouse I worked at. 😀
This particular rig will forever be a legend like the companies she served with.
Shame these Pierce rigs didnt take off with the FDNY. They really are sharp lookin rigs. Nice catch man!
And still in service (as a spare) 16 years later is amazing.
@@robertm8931exactly!
I agree with ya! very sharp rig. Thank you boss!
Interesting look for a FDNY truck. Definantly should invest in a new Rescue 4 though, those top lights ain't looking too hot
This is a spare rig, their new rig is s 2019 Ferrara Walk-In.

@@DevinFDNY that makes more sense. Thanks!
Probably the most reliable rescue truck they have😭
Nope. pierce is kinda known for breaking down. Plus FDNY still has Seegraves from 2001-1999 that are still in service!
Nice catch!
Thanks!
Nice catch! How busy is Rescue Co. 4?
They went to the 2nd most fires in the city last year the only one that is busier is rescue 2 in Brooklyn
Thank you! As of 2022, Rescue 4 is the second busiest rescue in the city, with 3,543 total runs in 2022, falling 12 runs short of the busiest rescue, rescue 2 with 3,555 runs.
I actually like this Pierce rig
Same!
That’s a tight fit
indeed!
there go the boys!!!
Oops. Forgot the roof lights
Wish they would have gone with Pierce for all their heavy rescues. I get that FDNY has very strict specs, but for the rescues; I feel pierce could have made it worked. Well, maybe in 8-10 years, pierce could get the contract, lol.
😂
Pierce is way over priced and can take 2 plus years to get them. Jersey City was mostly Pierce Engines but now they are going all E-Ones because of price mainly.
@@tomh3652So is everything else. E-One is 3 years, also have fun dealing with the REV Group.
A pierce??? In FDNY?!?!!??
yes, the only one FDNY has
What’s the point in having doors on the back because they never close them? I know FDNY are stuck in past traditions but it makes me wonder.
Lol, they have them closed from time to time. All depends on the shift, the weather, small things like that. I’ve caught them many times with their doors open & closed. I have a video to come soon & they have their door closed!
I thought r 1 -5 each had 2 Ferreras plus the pierce and eone rescue
It’s a spare
@@dv1267 I know it's a spare but why would they not run one of the 5 2011 Ferreras
E-One was scrapped & their 2011 ferrara was out for the span of a day, no need to take another borough’s 2011 spare for that so they grabbed the pierce
@@DevinFDNY when did they get rid of the eone I saw it either in oct 2021 or March 2022
@@DevinFDNYis the pierce always fully stocked with equipment or do they have to swap it over? Same with the Ferras?
pricing i have a bunch of seagraves in one of my dept and the other dept pierce if you want qulity Pierce it is
new pierces are garbage old pierces are were its at,wouldve rathered a new seagrave than a new pierce
Probably the most reliable rescue truck they have considering others are garbage Ferraras 😂
Oh it for sure is, no doubt. Pre emmisions pierce trucks are unbreakable, nowadays not so much
@@hagerstownredline5274 I feel like that can be said for most manufacturers now. No one makes them to last more than 10-15 years max. Not to make myself sound old but they definitely don’t make them like they used too
Why does the FDNY not have a contract with Pierce?
Seagrave & Ferrara Cater to the specs at a better price for the department
Like Devin said, they have a unique spec that most do not want to do or price efficiently. It also has to do with fleet maintnance. Keeping the same spec and vehicle means same parts.
@@chazman4461
*Keeping the same spec and vehicle means same parts*
now that's VERY important... same specs = same parts = less headaches ordering multiple parts from multiple vendors
I thought FDNY was strictly Seagrave?
A majority of their RM ladders are Ferrara.
They have had contracts with different manufacturers over the years, such as KME, Ferrara & seagrave.
Well this is obvious that they aren't
Na after 911 alot of venders send FDNY a truck especially Rescue 1
Ex Rescue 1
Roof lights broke
they weren’t activated
When they came back, the lights were active.
Obvious problem with upper warning lights on cab. Contrary to popular belief Pierces' suck and its because of their electronics. More than likely its a module. E-One trucks are far more superior.
Love Seagrave firetrucks. 😊❤❤❤❤. Pierce fire apparatus is garbage. 🗑️ 😮😊
