It took me years to realize that the lyrics meant:
"My mane is purple and my coat is orange" is referencing Scootaloo of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
"You used to be a legend, a righteous mare" is referring to Scootaloo idolizing Rainbow Dash in the past.
