Well.... in Rainbow factory, the Pegasus Device does this: It twists the Pegasus around so their ribs break, then, the Pegasus is dropped to where they are ground up and their spectra is harvested.
I'm pretty sure RD was under some spell or something but she got control over herself momentarily and killed herself to end the madness, but the spell then transferred to Scoots because she was the only one who witnessed it. Kinda like that spell mess up in Bats! That's just my guess though.
