    Hi guys. We are enjoying watching your channel and see you work through the issues on your boat. Learning about the purchase experience with The Moorings has been very interesting. We are “power boaters” and enjoy cruising on our trawler. We are always polite and understand how our wake can affect those around us and the property around us. Boaters are special people and I find it amazing how we interact and are willing to help regardless of whether you have sails or motors. There are rude power boaters just as there are rude sailboats. Please recognize that and hopeful you won’t look down on us and call us A Hole Power Boaters anymore. I know it can be frustrating dealing with others wakes but I really do believe that 90% of the problem is education and not someone just trying to be rude.
    Take care, be safe and look forward to your next video.

      You are absolutely right! People are just unaware of the laws and most do t consider how their wake affects others. Yes, their are inconsiderate Sail boats as well. I was just very frustrated. Thank you very much for following along and sending you insight! Much appreciated!

    Eventually, you will know all the systems. The key is to be mechanically inclined, not lose your cool, and not afraid of getting dirty. Projects are constant but I personally enjoy working on my boat. It’s not for everyone. Btw, I’m a motor boater and feel your pain with the yahoos and no wake zones. I would call the City Manager everyday and emails every other day. Eventually, they will have someone giving tickets and problem will subside. I once made NO WAKE banner 4’ high x 20’ and hung from side of boat. Also bought a bullhorn. It was great. 😊 Good luck. 😂

      I (Shannon) wanted to install a hailer and get a blue police light and call them out. Thought that would be fun. They just need to understand that they are responsible for any damage their wake may cause bc most are completely obvious! Rob is basically Mcguiver and can fix anything. We both can watch a video or just tinker until we figure things out. We really enjoy working on the boat but would love some breaks in between 😊 Thanks for following along!

    My family absolutely loves your videos. It's fun to watch a family just starting out and to hear what's going on in your thoughts as you go through your thought process and challenges. One small point of feedback: we struggle to hear your audio due to background noise. We end up having to turn the volume 30% and rewind often to hear what you're saying. I've noticed others YTers we watch use "artificial fur" on their mics maybe to cut down on wind noise? Just a thought. Looking forward to following your journey.

    • @SailingParadiseFalls
      @SailingParadiseFalls  Год назад +2

      We are learning every time we edit that we need to work on the audio as we record. We have done a good bit of recording on our phones as the camera is not available, as moments that we want to record come without warning sometimes....That is why a good bit of what we capture is pretty raw, emotions wise. But yes a good mic with wind protection and noise reduction is key! Rob actually had to have our good mic sent back for service...But it's back now and we are going to get better! Thanks for the coaching and for following along!!

    I live in SWF so I have my AC’s on continues fan to prevent freeze up. So the fan runs always

  • @codegame027
    @codegame027 Год назад

    this video only proves to me why Bluewater cruisers need to be the most resilient DIY-ers. DIY the world! Honestly, the high humidity and lack of duty cycle is probably why you are freezing up. It might not even be the units. You are just exceeding the duty cycle and not getting enough flow. Ideally, you probably need a higher BTU unit or just live without AC. I know Florida heat is summer is oppressive.

    • @SailingParadiseFalls
      @SailingParadiseFalls  Год назад +1

      The Port unit was initially checked and was deemed ok (we find out later that when the tech removed his gauge, the Schrader valve did not close right away and a bit of coolant leaked....just enough to tip the unit to low Freon and start freezing. We combatted the freezing up by running the fan on high. It did not allow the unit to get cold enough to freeze. The Starboard def had a leak. We had to wait almost 3 weeks for the new unit to arrive for the starboard. It's all sorted out now and we've been able to cool the boat through the rest of the summer. Thank you for letting us know about the duty cycle...You need both units functioning other wise the good unit works way too hard. Thanks for following our journey!

    Are you guys having any fun?! Like ANY kind of fun?
    You are living on a boat, in a sunny warm climate. Your full time boating dream has come true……but, seem irritated with the little things that OFTEN go sideways with owning boats.
    I know you’re frustrated but it’s almost like this boat experience has replaced your happy by taking the wind out of your sails……

Your right, I need to appreciate where we are and what we are doing. The bad often overshadows the good. It’s just been more exhausting than I could have dreamed. Tomorrow should be good though leaving the dock and headed to Ft. Lauderdale. I’m sorry if we have come across as complainers and whining. We just wanted people to see all parts of this life not just the highlight reel that most show. Thanks for your insight!

    Lithium is great but be aware that when the system switches the battery charging "OFF" that can fry your alternators, hence you need either to put one agm in between or a controller (not what is in batt() and besides that have a good look at which alternator you have etc. (I am not a specialist in the field, but I am very well aware that If you do this wrong you can have massive problems whislt out in the Remote

  • @bcng8or
    @bcng8or Год назад

    I would stop wasting money on repairing the traditional self contained marine AC units. These units are not reliable, not efficient, and require a lot of power to run. Cut you losses now and install a central marine chiller that feeds independent fan coils in the cabin spaces. Very efficient and very low draw on the batteries. Termodinamica is one I would consider but there an others. Similar to residential mini-split systems.
    What you have will be years of trouble and throwing money away.
