Whoa! I kinda feel like some sites with an oldschool vibe will use this as a permanent feature - cause they just hate the ”new” way browsers hide scrollbars

It's such a great trick ! However I believe this feature is not available on Safari ( Scrollbar are already handled on mac OS so it should be fine)

Yes, good call. That’s why I called this a progressive enhancement. Supporting browsers will get it. Others get the expected default behavior. So win-win!

You can make other adjustments to scroll bar using other properties like scrollbar-width

I solved this bug for my company by writing a hook in every table that checks if there is a scroll and if it exists it sets the width plus scroll bar width, this was forcloumn headers wich didnt have the scrll bar so all the columns would be misalinged the moment the content of the table exceeded the screen size and the scroll bar popped up. I dont know how this will help though
