I have a 2015 Cruze Diesel. I love my car. I test drove the other bench marks mentioned in this review. The reviewer needs to find a different line of work. I am very picky about my cars and for the money one would be hard to find a better value. As far as his thoughts on the Cobalt. I had a 99 G-5 which is the twin to the Cobalt again it was a very dependable car I sold it at 80k and the car never had any problems and was well built. I average 46MPG and on one trip averaged over 64 MPG.
"Now the Cruze Diesel isn't available with push-button start." OMG! You mean to tell me that you actually have to reach into your pocket, pull the key out, put it in the ignition, and turn it in order to start the engine? That's *WAY* too labor intensive! Seriously though, this generation is so full of freaking lazy people who always have to bitch about anything that requires a few seconds of effort to accomplish a simple ass task. Next, you'll be wanting everything to be automatic and even telepathic!
guildrich yea totally, why should our generation look to improve anything or seek any new efficiencies? I for one am still upset I can't just roll down my windows, who needs a one touch automatic window button??
But he’s comparing it to other vehicles... if other vehicles have push button ignition, then why shouldn’t the Chevy? It’s his job to tell you what should be improved!
Always look forward to your reviews. Not sure why everyone hates on your opinions. I find it helpful how blunt and detailed you are. :) keep up the good work!!!!
Keith Thanks Keith, I try to be as fair as I can and keep to mind what kind of market the car targets. Some viewers just don't always want to hear the "ugly" part of the vehicle, especially if that's what he/she drives. However, I believe that no car is truly perfect, although there are some that come pretty darn close ;). -Sofyan
Redline Reviews Great video, I enjoy hearing your criticism of the cars, I want to know what's bad. If I only wanted to hear praise I can watch the manufacturers' commercials.
Eric T I do as well! I just feel like I can relate more in terms of what I feel toward a car with him! saabkyle is a good reviewer as well, but sofyan really compares all of the vehicles goods and bads. Definitely wish he was the one who led the automotive reviews on all cars! :)
Keith first time i've watched one. good to get opinion, but he needs to qualify some of it. where he says - this layout is illogical..ok, why? otherwise, it's just i say vs you say.
ths sound system actually sound very good if youn know how to use bass mid and treb adjusment and please keep independent suspension away, repair cost so much more and drive like shit if you carry something heavy or back passengers, price of cruze diesel oil change: 75$, price of jetta tdi oil change: 280$, why you dont put useful fact in your review instead of crying about cheap interior, every danm model in this class is cheap made, everyone already knows it
+Juste Dan MY oil changes only cost 40 dollars. But then I bring my own oil (3-4 quarts depending on the car: Honda or Volkswagen). The dealer will rip you off by charging 6 quarts even if only uses 4 .
My wife has a diesel Cruze and I generally agree with most of your criticisms. But the main appeal of this car is the fuel economy and resale value. Diesel's hold their value really well and this car is the best highway MPG non-hybrid/electric car we've ever driven. Going normal highway speed we got 46-48 mpg. If you go a bit slower (55-60 MPH) we'll get about 50-52 mpg. My wife loves it, it's her favorite car she's owned, even compared to a Jetta TDI she's owned. We love our Cruze Diesel!
The Cruze was always the epitome of a cheap GM car from what I can tell. The suspension needs to be independent, the interior isn't up to par in any way, and the performance is underwhelming. Not a single Cruze I have driven has changed my mind. The Volkswagen, Mazda, Honda and Ford are all better choices at this point.
+Hank Hill ... That's just wishful thinking on your part. I can say with confidence that neither VW, nor MAAAAZDAAA or Honda or Ford have better cars in this segment. unlike you, my opinion is grounded in reality and not delusion. Grow up.
( continuing ) I don't mind the interior but I do find the driver cup holders in kind of an odd place & hard to get to. I did notice the seats are very hard compared to my G6 GT. I had a G5 GTprior to the 6 & find the car comparable but prefer the Cruze much more. I had a Grand Am GT at one time too as well as a Nissan 300 ZX so I do like driving fast. I'm older now & this car suits me just fine for what I need. It has passing power and I find the fuel economy great. I drove the car a lot & took a road trip on the 3rd day. After 510 miles I still had about a 1/4 tank of gas left from when I got the car from the dealer.
Most people don't buy heavy diesel cars to drive as a sports car and they don't care about 0-60mph or mostly city driving they drive them for long run and fuel mileage. And Volkswagen might be cheaper up front but cost a lot more for maintenance, I know because I have owned one got rid of it and want something cheaper to keep up, while keeping the fuel mileage. Not to mention my Volkswagen Passat TDI that I owned would not get but around 32-38mpg no matter if I was in the city or on the the highway far from what they said it would get. I know some people that got better mileage with theirs but everyone said they would not get the mileage that volkswagen advertised. So I do thank you for some of your comments but some of the things you say is a negative to me is a possitive. Just like the steering I don't like the steering to be too responsive the car I own now drives like a sports car in town but you get on the interstate at speeds around 65-70 miles per hour then the slightest little movement and the car will jerk from lane to lane. City driving it is fantastic but not on the highway and I think the way you are describing this car it is the best of both worlds. I would love to have one a little less responsive just because of highway speeds it just feels unsafe to me. Again thanks for your thoughts just wish it was more reviews like people would be using it for and not compairing a highway car to a sports car.
I love my 2015 Chevy Cruze Diesel inside and out its a great car and yes better and way cheaper then a vokes wagon TDI. Every thing you put down on this car is fulse if you ask me I've had this car for 3 months and its great.
@@coryphillips1783 He is already 10 years old and running just fine, thanks. I dont know about Toyota, never owned one and never will if they dont do something to improve how that thing looks. I realy dont like it. If you like it, I am absolutely fine with that. No bad feelings.
I don't see why there is so much hate on the cruze. My girl has one and the interior is pretty solid with no rattles and has been very reliable. Plus I believe its the only one in its class that offers a gas turbocharged engine, its very torquey for everyday driving. We took a 600+ mile trip to florida in it fully loaded, going 70-80mph all the way and averaged 42mpg! The trifecta team also has an engine tune that gives the 1.4l gas turbo +44 WHP and +51 ft-lbs of torque UNDER THE CURVE They also have a tune for the diesel 2.0 model +66 ft-lbs@2850RPM and +51 WHP@4300RPM You can't get these gains with a tune with any of the competition
I love this generation cruze... speaking from the future again because I'm binge watching older cars because the car market is completely over run by big grocery mommy getter and the cool cars and small cars are gone right now. But regardless, contrary to popular opinion, I found this generation Cruze to be quite stylish. It was a cute little car. The next generation was nice as well but this one, while bland to some, was perfect for me. I almost bought one until what I do requires me to have my ideal car, midsize and full size sedans. I miss this era and I wished we appreciated it a lot more. Cars weren't so expensive. Feels like today we have completly missed what a car's purpose is for regardless of it being compact, luxury, electric, etc. It's to get you from point A to B. And this coming from a 21 year old.
CLOTH COVERED DASH: "It is a small change but makes the Cruze feel more upscale than an econocar." - Csabe Czere of Car and Driver. "I really like the cloth feel rather than cheap plastic in equivalent cars from Honda or Toyota." - Brian Cooley CNET. "Instead of hard plastic Chevy gives you a cloth-covered dash. Nice upgrade for minimal cost to the customer." - Autoline. THESE reviewers are not anti-American like this Redline guy. That's why I trust their opinions .
Hi Sofyan! I just want to say that I've been a huge fan of this channel and even your old one with your car reviews on there. I've been a bit of a silent fan, never commenting, but I just wanted to know one thing. I feel like the videos you make have improved greatly in quality compared to your old videos and I must applaud you for this, but, will you ever go back to making reviews of older cars as you had before? It seems like all you have been reviewing lately are just brand new cars (with the exception of your review of the classic Acura NSX and the Legend) and I wonder if you will ever review any more special vehicles like those anymore from the past. Thanks! Huge fan, keep up the excellent videos!
adis handanovic Thanks for being a fan for so long! I do realize that lately, I've been choosing to film more new cars especially since I've gotten access to manufacture press cars. I will still choose to film older vehicles occasionally, but I am very selective when it comes to the condition. I prefer to show you guys clean, unmodified used cars and they can be hard to find. That being sad, I won't ever stop filming older vehicles, I'm just waiting to find a really good one that I know you all want to see :). -Sofyan
I was impressed with the 2015 Cruze gas model we had as a rental a few months ago. It handled amazing! I was very surprised! The transmission wasn't my favorite though.
VM motori is the N°1 diesel manufacturer in the world, they only make diesels (for boats, industry, cars,...), their engines are on most of korean diesel cars in korea and europe which are far more reliable than any german diesel. The diesels versions of maserati models are from VM. And the VCDI put on the corean cruze looks a little different but it's a little pearl, and is the best seller engine of VM around the world.
the Cruze is definetly an improvement on its predecessors....but for me the Benchmark small car is still the Mazda 3...god that car was just so fun to drive
The Cruze Diesel's main competitor in terms of price and trim is the VW Jetta TDI. While the Cruze Diesel is nice, VW matches its 46 MPG highway rating, though VW has a track record when it comes to reliability and quality, and you can get a Jetta S TDI and get nice features at a lower price (the Cruze Diesel doesn't offer a lower-priced model like the Jetta TDI does)... right now, I'd pick a 2015 VW Jetta TDI over the Cruze Diesel.
fanowner12 VWs aren't reliable though the TDI motor is solid. It's far more refined than this Cruze so I'd go for the Jetta/Golf too. I'd probably buy a 1 or 2 year old model because VW tosses in the CPO warranty with an extra 2year/40,000km warranty so in some cases you get a better warranty than just the basic 4 year/80,000 km.
my american friends please dont hate this car and be proud of it. if it had been a euro import everyone would be drooling over it. it is a very well packaged car for what it intends to be.
The only way this guy would have a favorable review of the diesel cruze would be if someone were to slap a Honda or Toyota sticker on it. Then he would love it to death. He can't accept the fact that Chevy made a damn good car.
It reminds me of a guy who tore-apart a Chevy Vibe, saying how badly it sucked in driving and dash layout . Then I told him this is actually a Matrix built by Toyota engineers and interior designers. He looked so embarrassed .
My goodness, look at that engine moving around as it idles, straining the intake tubing in an odd, slow, rhythmic pattern. All that cheap assembly won't come apart and rattle like mad a few years later? What are those motor mounts getting done?
Well after seeing this I don't want a diesel cruze anymore. I figured with all that extra torque it could outdo my sonic 0-60 stock of course but stock it's almost a second behind the sonic still. I figured it would've been along the lines of driving a sonic with massive exhaust upgrades and an intake. Thanks for the review I'll wait till they redesign the vehicle but they probably won't like they did with the J body cavalier, they ran the same body for over a decade before they discontinued the car
2015 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel VS 2015 Chevrolet Malibu 2ltz? Opinions please? I only want to hear about the interior and technology. If you guys want you could tell me about the safety in both cars but you dont have to because im pretty sure the safety is the same in both cars.
Sorry GM! The Jetta TDI is a better car, with better fuel economy, cheaper to buy, will be more reliable, and I have a wide variety of options...like a manual! And this engine is way to clattery for modern day diesels.
Brandon Friesen "more reliable" ya, that one i died at,to funny. at leas this cruze has a nicer interior with RS using leatherette and leather instead of cheap cloths and plastics.
clovis myers No, it will be more reliable. This engine is from Opel. They use this engine in Europe and customer satisfaction is dreadful just because theres so many long term issues. The TDI, if you get a good one, will last 1 million miles. Theres lots of examples on youtube. And the interior is trash in the cruze. Ever seen the build quality? The panel gaps? Those cheap plastics? And that awful scratchy cloth? No, the Jetta is miles better in every way. Especially with the facelift model.
Brandon Friesen this is most definitely not a engine from OPEL, this is from fiat which is worse actually ;) if you think VW has "GOOD BUILD QUALITY" you are sorely mistaken, as a detailer we do more than enough VW's most of them are more inline with kia's and Chrysler. oh and this model that he is reviewing is not the top of the line model it has the top of the line engine.
clovis myers It is an engine from Opel, read this article: www.kbb.com/car-news/all-the-latest/2014-chevrolet-cruze-diesel-first-review-a-chevy-with-a-german-accent/2000009389/ Still don't believe me? I have tons more evidence from MotorTrend, Car and Driver, and Consumer Reports. Also, the Jetta does have good build quality, best in class next to the Golf. Need a quick way to test it? For the exterior, knock on a part of the car that is metal, for example the wheelarches. On a Cruze, Mazda3, Elantra etc, they use thin metal so it will sound incredibly hollow. Knock on a Jettas wheel arch, and it will sound very thick and will just make a thud. This is because VW uses special galvanized steel that increases crash safety and rust prevention. Now for the interior, slam one of the doors. For any Japanese or American car,the door slam will sound hollow and tinny. For a German car, like the Jetta, it will sound solid and substantial. I work for Mazda and see Cruze's get traded in all day long and am very disapointed with them. The model this guy is reviewing is a top of the line model, hence why he said "LTZ" which is top of the line. And he said in the video, for a similarly equipped Jetta TDI, it's still over $1,500 cheaper.
I love the Cruze and really want to buy one (2LT or LTZ) but I can't disagree with anything you said about it. They have released what the 2016 Cruze is going to look like. Unfortunately, it looks a new gen civic had a baby with an Elantra.
And now with TDIGate going on this is pretty much the only Compact diesel you can buy in north america which is a shame i really hope Chevy really gives the cruze diesel a healthy refresh and vw can sort their crap with their controversy >.
I'm disappointed with GM for eliminating the manual trans on the diesel which is unusual because GM options manuals on all the other gas trims. I'm also disappointed in the low number of diesel Cruzes available but it doesn't line up well with other Chevys. Why buy a $26k Cruze diesel (local prices with rebates) when you can buy a gas Cruze for under $17k or a Malibu for $20k?
I own a 2014 Cruze Diesel (very minor non driving related differences from 2015) and while it is not a perfect car, I disagree with many aspects of this review. Those who (probably blindly) say in comments that the Cruze is a POS compared to a VW are really drinking some brand specific Kool Aid. I seriously considered the VW TDIs when it was time to buy this car and I previously owned a 2004 Jetta TDI for 100K reasonably low trouble miles. There was no aspect of the Sportwagens that I looked at and test drove several times that was obviously or dramatically better to me than the Cruze. For what it is worth, my biggest concern with the car is the complicated emissions system which has resulted in 3 dealer visits in 20K miles. Something the 2014 VW didn't have to worry about but now they too have urea injection etc so time will tell if it impacts their reliability. I test drove a Jetta Sportwagen (again this was 2014) and felt that the DSG was actually even softer/slower off the line than the Cruze. As he mentioned, the diesel Cruze has a different 6 speed than the gas models and I have found it to be quite responsive and pleasing. I also find the manual shifting to work well (not denying shifts) but it already does a really good job of downshifting on downhills to give engine braking so I rarely play with manual shifting unlike in my other car where I use it often here in hilly PA. My favorite things about the Diesel Cruze are the power, the transmission (really, other than 0-5 MPH which is as much turbo lag as anything, I think it's brilliant), going 6 or 700 miles on each tank of fuel and the quiet composed ride. In 2014 at least, automatic headlights weren't available at any price on the Jetta Sportwagen. I feel very secure with the Watts link or Z-link rear suspension serving as a nice suspension upgrade over Corolla or lower trim Cruzes. It handles fine but he's right it's not remotely Mazda 3 territory. Less than favorite things are My Link (slow, sometimes reboots itself), the tight rear seat room and the already mentioned complex emissions controls that seem to at least have had some 2014 teething pains.
Seems like he is only pointing out bad things about the car..look at it for what it is, A low cost compact car meant mostly for the low to middle class. It seems like it's being compared to German luxury cars. what car doesn't fit into the rental car category? It's a chevy cruze not a chevy GT-R 600 hp turbo edition lol
This cruze came out in 08. The US introduced the Cruze in 2010...This car is really that old. And GM already redesigned the Cruze in China. look it up.
This review sucked it's not a Lamborghini you're so picky knocking everything about it as if you're expecting Bentley quality. It's a car that now in 2017 you can purchase for under 10k$ lower your standards don't be Debby downer
I would rather have a Ford Fusion Hybrid considering the price of this compact car. You can get one at basically the same price and options for the same price, it drives better, its a bigger safer car, better quality interior and get 9mpg combined better. I just don't see the point of it.
I applaud GM for making a diesel version but it still doesn't hide the fact it's an outdated, cheap, overpriced fleet queen. How anyone can willingly spend their money on a Cruze is beyond me, hell I'd take a Sentra or Corolla over this.
Not my favorite review of yours. I don't wanna be one of those trolls, but it all felt like a long big bashing at the car and a constant praise of VW's products.
Well it's because he's telling it just like it is, it's a piece of scrap and a shame for GM especially when the have good looking vehicles like the Malibu(2016) and Impala.
+Bad Drivers of the DC Area .... I agree. This review was a hateful attempt to delegitimize Chevy Cruze diesel, it's outstanding performance in its segment and it's fuel economy.
jonathan ingerson Nobody has to believe me, apparently alot has the same perception, Im not here for your satisfaction just because you "drive" a cruze lol stop being butthurt and log out, have a goodnight.
GM needs to dump the Delta II platform. No amount of material improvements and interior / exterior design changes will help it's clown car interior dimensions. At least GM repeats this mistake with the 2016 Volt.
These are the types of cars that you would hope would be from a bygone era. I just went the the chevy website and built a Cruze, it's $21K with the auto diesel. The resale on this rattling and plastic-y would by horrible. With so little thought into the parts and design, I would believe that it isn't going to be a decent car.
I seriously don't understand why people buy GM products, especially from the Chevrolet brand. The Cruze=bottom of the class. The Equinox=bottom of the class. The Malibu=bottom of the class. They strive at making cheap, chintzy, poorly designed cars, designed specifically with mass consumption in mind. GM doesn't care about the consumer, they only put out whatever will make them the most money in the end..which usually equates to a car that has an accelerator, brake, and steering wheel...and everything else is just a cheap afterthought. It really is mind-boggling that somebody would choose a Cruze or an Equinox over say a Focus or an Escape. Toyota, for example, may be considered a "bland" car manufacturer, but at least they have comfort, reliability, nice quality interiors, up-to-date technology, etc..Chevy has virtually nothing to offer to the consumer. No comfort, no reliability, no unique/appealing driving dynamics, no tech, no eye-catching styling, etc..there is nothing special about any of their cars. Sorry, I just HATE GM and I just can't understand why people buy into these cheap and overtly shitty cars. The second you get in one you can immediately tell it's designed to be a shitty rental car.
You are very correct! I live in the Detroit area where GMs are extremely popular (mostly because everbody has a family member that works for GM) and people get offended when you tell the truth about GM! Recently, ford-lincoln and fiat-chrysler have made strides in ridding the world of the stereotype of American cars being crap. But GM just keeps running it! When you go to Europe your rental is a quality skoda octavia or Volkswagen golf, but in america you are welcomed here (or should I say, unwelcomed) with an embarrassing cruze! Look closely at most GM cars in states other than Michigan, they all have rental company barcode stickers on them. They are truly terrible cars at the bottom of the class! The only reason people buy them is because of their GM-employed family members. They do not research the cars because if they did they would see the terrible reviews from all automotive journalists. I hate GM they do not give a crap about safety or technology either and even threaten the lives of Americans with dangerous vehicles! I wish that they had stayed bankrupt in 2009! The American car industry would have done even better with a new "big three"- chrysler, ford, and tesla. GM always steals the thunder although their cars are mediocre! I hope to rejoice the day that GM dies along with all their unreliable cars.
I just bought a Cadillac ats just because it's supposedly an incredible handler for a fair price. Hopefully I'm not disappointed with it. I got the 2.0T Luxury Trim. I'm happy with the build quality and driving feel thus far, however the CUE system is a tad bit worry some. It's a 2013 model with 40k miles and the infotainment center has already been totally replaced once before.
jamesrichardson63 Obviously the Vette is a great sports car. As for the other two, I've never really been a fan of the Silverado (I'd rather an F-150), and while the Suburban looks nice on the exterior, it's still just a cheaply made, poorly put together gas guzzling SUV.
Hey Man...I totally agree with you. I haven't driven one but sat in the car during the dc auto show in the winter. I was not impressed at all with the quality. It does seem cheaply made and more importantly over priced.
tjaquish well, when you are given grade A beef filet mignon to taste, you get used to the high quality product. all of a sudden, you are given a frozen Salisbury steak tv dinner to review and your expectations are a little high. this is the same as comparing Volkswagen diesel ro the cheaply made cruze.
donkedik J. Fuel economy, awesome torque, better longevity, and higher resale value. But you have to do the right type of driving. If you do city, get a gas engine. Lots of highway? Get a diesel. A diesel will kill itself with short city trips
donkedik J. Fuel economy but generally only at highway speeds. You are better off driving the long way to your destination if more highways are involved. Resale is ALWAYS better. A Diesel engine will last much longer.
Brandon Friesen Modern diesels actually have pretty poor reliability and longevity. Too much complexity and emissions stuff kills them. Also, Most turbocharged 2.0L gas engines produce an equal amount low-end torque, so that also isn't a point for diesels. As for fuel economy, yes, but there's no point to better fuel economy when diesel costs so much more upfront, the fuel is more, the repairs are more, etc. Even under the best circumstances, diesel will take you a very long time to pay for itself. I'm saying this from experience.
Caesar Diesel cars do cost more upfront, but they sell for more used too so you get the money back. Diesel fuel is even with gas atm, so fuel prices aren't an issue. Maintenance price is higher for sure... Definitely not worth keeping a modern diesel for a long time
I currently have this car as my rental while my car gets fixed at the shop. & I have this same ugly bright red color. It looks like a chick's car with this ugly color. But it's a decent car. I have a base LT model so no goodies like backup camera or touchscreen. I'll stick to my Japanese cars tho :) Don't really care for GM
A "bland, average, uninspiring" compact diesel sedan isn't supposed to be anything but reliable and able to churn out hundreds of thousands of low cost miles for someone who is looking for that. But it's hard to review something that's meant for that purpose, so your video isn't worth much.
Umm they didn't make the Pontiac G5 in 1999 that car was sold from 2007 to 2009 so yours must have been a 2009
I had a 2012 cruze eco and it was the best and most reliable car I had ever owned.
"Now the Cruze Diesel isn't available with push-button start."
OMG! You mean to tell me that you actually have to reach into your pocket, pull the key out, put it in the ignition, and turn it in order to start the engine? That's *WAY* too labor intensive!

The 2017 has a push button. You can start the engine with your fob or the Chevy app.
But he’s comparing it to other vehicles... if other vehicles have push button ignition, then why shouldn’t the Chevy? It’s his job to tell you what should be improved!
Pace Man Because it’s diesel the ignition has steps before it can start which is why there’s no push start
Always look forward to your reviews. Not sure why everyone hates on your opinions. I find it helpful how blunt and detailed you are. :) keep up the good work!!!!

I think this car is really at the bottom of compact sedans. Even Hyundai and KIA has better offerings.
+Hank Hill how about in terms of gas milage? I heard it's amazing, and its diesel (cheaper)
+Hank Hill ... That's just wishful thinking on your part. I can say with confidence that neither VW, nor MAAAAZDAAA or Honda or Ford have better cars in this segment. unlike you, my opinion is grounded in reality and not delusion. Grow up.
jonathan ingerson - Cruze driver, 2015
how many Cruzes have you driven? Do you just go to dealerships requesting test drives? lol
Did you turn the traction control off when you tested it; if-else, how else did you expect it to handle?
im really liking how you walk around the engine again n again, its iconic LOL

3 months isn't long enough to rate a car lmao. Are you smoking something? You need at least 2 years of driving it
@@coryphillips1783 I am driving it for 3 years. Its a great car. Now what?!
@@andjelkokuzmanovic437 let me know if it runs in 7 more years. That's the true test, which Toyotas can pass
@@coryphillips1783 He is already 10 years old and running just fine, thanks. I dont know about Toyota, never owned one and never will if they dont do something to improve how that thing looks. I realy dont like it. If you like it, I am absolutely fine with that. No bad feelings.
I have had my 2015 Diesel cruze for 3 years now its great I really like it. I had a 2012manual gas cruze before was fun but dealer could not fix it.
The trifecta team also has an engine tune that gives the 1.4l gas turbo +44 WHP and +51 ft-lbs of torque UNDER THE CURVE
They also have a tune for the diesel 2.0 model +66 ft-lbs@2850RPM and +51 WHP@4300RPM
You can't get these gains with a tune with any of the competition
What does all that mean?
That's why I trust their opinions
.
I don't think this guy ever said anything positive about GM ever.

***** auto makers don't care about used car sales, they don't make any money off them, so why would they promote them?
Redline Reviews Come review my stock 2004 s2000. I'm near Cleveland.
GM need to improve the rear leg room on this car so it is more inline with its competitors such as the new Corolla, Sentra etc..
I was impressed with the 2015 Cruze gas model we had as a rental a few months ago. It handled amazing! I was very surprised! The transmission wasn't my favorite though.
A GM with a Fiat engine? Yaaay reliability!!
Joe Antonio It's actually VM Motori, previously joint owned by GM and Fiat, until Fiat bought it outright recently. But, still...
Man, he pushed that gas and went nowhere. lol Just poking fun Sofyan. Great video!
The Cruze diesel is now worth more as it's the only subcompact diesel in the market currently as VW imploded with their TDi's unfortunately.
the Cruze is definetly an improvement on its predecessors....but for me the Benchmark small car is still the Mazda 3...god that car was just so fun to drive
Did i see april 21? Are you guys a month behind on videos?
I really like the lay-out of the interior. It does looks so classy. :)
You tripping
I'd probably buy a 1 or 2 year old model because VW tosses in the CPO warranty with an extra 2year/40,000km warranty so in some cases you get a better warranty than just the basic 4 year/80,000 km.
you use the menu select knob to get around the small button issue. I do agree though it could be a better screen.
As always the editing was simply amazing! The intro was the best i think I have ever seen from you guys! Keep up the awesome work.
my american friends please dont hate this car and be proud of it. if it had been a euro import everyone would be drooling over it. it is a very well packaged car for what it intends to be.
A new Cruze is on the works already, probably will be introduced at the end of the year in US.
The only way this guy would have a favorable review of the diesel cruze would be if someone were to slap a Honda or Toyota sticker on it. Then he would love it to death. He can't accept the fact that Chevy made a damn good car.
It reminds me of a guy who tore-apart a Chevy Vibe, saying how badly it sucked in driving and dash layout
.
Then I told him this is actually a Matrix built by Toyota engineers and interior designers. He looked so embarrassed
.
which midsize truck do you think is the best and most reliable?
The refresh which other markets already had in 2015 debuts in the US on June 24th.
Plenty of photos already. Offers Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.
My goodness, look at that engine moving around as it idles, straining the intake tubing in an odd, slow, rhythmic pattern. All that cheap assembly won't come apart and rattle like mad a few years later? What are those motor mounts getting done?
The door has probably has sound deadening foam in it to block the diesel noise.
I'm not surprised... GM has always had cheap crappy interiors. Great review, very detailed!
It has that LED daytime running light strip, but non led headlights and tail lights...
Brandon Friesen this is most definitely not a engine from OPEL, this is from fiat which is worse actually ;)
if you think VW has "GOOD BUILD QUALITY" you are sorely mistaken, as a detailer we do more than enough VW's most of them are more inline with kia's and Chrysler.
oh and this model that he is reviewing is not the top of the line model it has the top of the line engine.
clovis myers It is an engine from Opel, read this article: www.kbb.com/car-news/all-the-latest/2014-chevrolet-cruze-diesel-first-review-a-chevy-with-a-german-accent/2000009389/
Still don't believe me?
And he said in the video, for a similarly equipped Jetta TDI, it's still over $1,500 cheaper.
clovis myers VW doesn't have good build quality? Maybe the cheap shit like the Polo etc. but my MK6 GTI interior is pretty awesome.
does it hunt for gears like the auto cruze does?
Everyone's surprised how cheap it is but in all reality this car replaced the Cobalt and Cavalier
More disposable junk from GM
And other makers don't make disposable cars? They're all the same at the end.
Less than favorite things are My Link (slow, sometimes reboots itself), the tight rear seat room and the already mentioned complex emissions controls that seem to at least have had some 2014 teething pains.
get its ecu chipped, it wont be boring anymore. Mine 2.0VCD, 120HP/180HP 300Nm/400Nm.
I find it sad that they redesigned this car for China but we still get the old one
Why don´t you do a Buick Verano comparison as it´s the same car , but better engine and more .
Thank´s
Hm, so is the diesel more fun then the petrol? On paper it is, still pretty slow tho.
This cruze came out in 08. The US introduced the Cruze in 2010...This car is really that old.
And GM already redesigned the Cruze in China. look it up.
There gonna release a 2016 model on June 26 it's a way better now
C'mon. You've Got It. sound useful What's your opinion about this, guys !
Come on call it what this is the 2015 Daewoo Cruze!
Do an impala or armada or Sedona or navigator please I'd love to see them on your channel ;)
Not a Fiat engine. The Cruze diesels in other countries were for the first several years, but this one is a pure GM Opel unit.
davek12 It's actually the opposite. Cruze diesels from 2014 on have Fiat engines, and before that the Opel engine was used (according to wikipedia)
What about Toyota Camry 2015?
Engine front Fiat or Opel? Can someone clarify?
Opel !!! This reviewer needs to review his facts !!! He's a true fu@king idiot !!! Just an observation
I get a 2014 Chevy Cruze diesel turbo going the intercooler piping blowing out
video is way too long. needs to be < 9 minutes. skip the music fluff and long winded blah blah blah
This review sucked it's not a Lamborghini you're so picky knocking everything about it as if you're expecting Bentley quality. It's a car that now in 2017 you can purchase for under 10k$ lower your standards don't be Debby downer
song name at the intro?
I would rather have a Ford Fusion Hybrid considering the price of this compact car. You can get one at basically the same price and options for the same price, it drives better, its a bigger safer car, better quality interior and get 9mpg combined better. I just don't see the point of it.
ITS AN ECONOMY CAR, if you want a "faster" car but a camaro.
Can you do the latest Mercedes Benz G63 AMG?
Look at how almost the entire engine compartment is shaking! That just screams high quality and reliability. /sarcasm
Song intro?
I applaud GM for making a diesel version but it still doesn't hide the fact it's an outdated, cheap, overpriced fleet queen. How anyone can willingly spend their money on a Cruze is beyond me, hell I'd take a Sentra or Corolla over this.
Not my favorite review of yours. I don't wanna be one of those trolls, but it all felt like a long big bashing at the car and a constant praise of VW's products.
Bad Drivers of the DC Area well the Jetta TDI is the only other competitor for this car in the US so what else can he compare it to
Well it's because he's telling it just like it is, it's a piece of scrap and a shame for GM especially when the have good looking vehicles like the Malibu(2016) and Impala.
+Bad Drivers of the DC Area .... I agree. This review was a hateful attempt to delegitimize Chevy Cruze diesel, it's outstanding performance in its segment and it's fuel economy.
jonathan ingerson Already drove it ... multiple times. overall cheap car. Learn how to properly tag someone before selling your comment :).
jonathan ingerson Nobody has to believe me, apparently alot has the same perception, Im not here for your satisfaction just because you "drive" a cruze lol stop being butthurt and log out, have a goodnight.
I really like the cruze, but in terms of reliability no. I have high hopes for the 2016 Chevy cruze.
Isn't this just a badge engineered Holden?
GM needs to dump the Delta II platform. No amount of material improvements and interior / exterior design changes will help it's clown car interior dimensions.
At least GM repeats this mistake with the 2016 Volt.
The engine sounds horrible
Why? It's a Diesel engine, so it will sound different.
This engine sounds so unrefined, like a tractor compared to the VW diesel engines even though this is a German engine.
Redline Reviews!
Do an Evo X
These are the types of cars that you would hope would be from a bygone era. I just went the the chevy website and built a Cruze, it's $21K with the auto diesel. The resale on this rattling and plastic-y would by horrible. With so little thought into the parts and design, I would believe that it isn't going to be a decent car.
Bout to redo my interior
I drove this yesterday. The interior was...all hard plastic and not very interesting. The driving was...bland. I didn't like it at all.
Got one for my girlfriend she love's it.
The front fascia is hideous. Thankfully the new Cruze has the bowtie integrated into the grille.
I much prefer the Jetta over the Cruze.
Is that a lawnmower engine lol
Review the honda crh please!
Do a 2015 ford f150 please
Oops. Only 240p?
I'm more interested in that torque
Joel BIelecki i only buy toyota's, all my domestics were crap including Ford and especially Dodge
What about the vette, silverado, suburban. People like you should eat turds
jamesrichardson63 Obviously the Vette is a great sports car. As for the other two, I've never really been a fan of the Silverado (I'd rather an F-150), and while the Suburban looks nice on the exterior, it's still just a cheaply made, poorly put together gas guzzling SUV.
The video. One word 10000 miles per hour
please. review chevy equinox 2017
Diesel engine to last longer??? The rest of the car is cheap so what's the point besides gas mileage!
American car snore
Hey Man...I totally agree with you. I haven't driven one but sat in the car during the dc auto show in the winter. I was not impressed at all with the quality. It does seem cheaply made and more importantly over priced.
uh oh the engines from Fiat? I know what to avoid then...
You are so negative. If it were a import you would be loving it!
tjaquish well, when you are given grade A beef filet mignon to taste, you get used to the high quality product. all of a sudden, you are given a frozen Salisbury steak tv dinner to review and your expectations are a little high. this is the same as comparing Volkswagen diesel ro the cheaply made cruze.
What's the benefits of a diesel engine
donkedik J. Fuel economy.. That's it
But it's hard to review something that's meant for that purpose, so your video isn't worth much.
grow up, and stop hatin on GM.
