As someone who errs on the side of caution, my view would be don't bite off the hand that feeds you. It's your Datashredders A to B driving that has brought you your popularity and that's what I subscribed to. Your other videos re your home life, your M3 and your truck project are welcome asides from the main vlogs and complement them well. But it's not for me to tell you what to do, only you and Helen can make your decision and you must follow your instincts. As someone who only follows you on You Tube, I would say cut out the Tik Tok! I recognise it takes up a lot of your time and I think your vlogs are excellently edited. You decide, meanwhile this video was Very Good, Very Nice.

    • @MattyMerecat
      @MattyMerecat 2 года назад +11

I agree with this as the TikTok’s seem to take a lot more work than the youtube does. Both take a lot of time but I personally think the youtube content is much more valuable.

Don’t quit driving mate! Stick at it until you get your operators licence. I know it’s tough graft at the moment but it’ll all be worth it. Especially when you’re your own boss in your own pride and joy, doing the job you love! And we can all carry on watching the videos you make!🤘🏽🤙🏽

Tim, your success is based on your fun attitude and insight into truck driving. That's the reason I and many others have followed you. Obviously only you and Helen can make the ultimate decisions but dare I say it, don't get too carried away with your popularity, keep yourself grounded and you'll continue to be a big hit on social media.
I do think the private O licence is a good option but in the future. Good luck with whatever you choose. You certainly make me and my kids smile. 👍

    Hi Tim,
I think you should carry on driving full time for datashredders whilst you complete the Scania build. Save as much money as you can during this period and try to put a massive deposit down for another lorry so your monthly overheads are low.
Do your OL and get your insurance in place etc, go to Datashredders and become an Owner Operator and do loads for them or any company really. Sign up to the Haulage Exchange and get return work etc.
It might take a while but it will be worth it in the end. You can get your ADR and do Hazardous loads too.
    Good luck mate

As a newcomer to this channel, the one thing that attracted me to this channel was your positive attitude and your trucking content.
I believe you have expanded too much in a short amount of time and you are trying to do all the things at once: merch, TikTok, video editing, truck fixing, truck driving, being a father and a husband etc. I can only warn you, this will most likely cause you to eventually burn out and stop enjoying things that you used to like. Please allow yourself some personal time. You don't have to update us on the hour. I hope you don't stop trucking because i see that you do it as a passion, not as a job. It's why I came here and enjoy your content. Thank you for showing me the brighter side of truck driving. The choice is yours!
    Kind regards,
    Andrew

    Hi Tim.
My personal opinion and it is only that. People including me started watching you because of the fun content you brought with the insight into trucking. It’s important to remember why you got the followers in the first place and although the extras are nice scattered in the reason your page started and grew was to bring lorry driving to the front. Stick with it.
I can’t change my job to do this but something I would love to have tried earlier.

    Hi Tim 😃
My personal feeling is that you should do more of what is making you happy and less of what isn’t.
I think that a lot of people here, myself included, enjoy your very organic and relatable style of vlogging, and your datashredders-centric content is as enjoyable as any other your other content. With that being said I think it would be beneficial to your channel if you’re able to continue offering this kind of content off the back of working for datashredders part time or, of course, another firm if they’re unable to accommodate this, while you work towards your dreams. Cutting your hours will surely give you a good chunk of extra time to work on your other projects, whilst you work towards getting your own truck to go owner operator in the long run.
Keep doing what you’re doing man, you inspired me to get my license and I am absolutely loving driving an artic for a living. I can see just how you get such a kick out of it! So, thank you for helping me to take the plunge and change career!
All the best to you and the family ❤️

    1. Finish the Scania whilst studying for TM and fathoming out the operators license.
    2. Talk to Datashredders about subcontracting in the first instance.
    3. Employ someone to drive the rig on the days you don’t want to. Ain’t gonna make money if it’s only rolling 2/3 days a week.

Hi Tim . My thoughts ( though probably are completely different to what you are considering) are if you are enjoying your work for trans tech then consider working for them as well as the socials . And even if you do this option but still want to keep driving , you could do some trucking challenges .eg( get from point a to point b in a certain Time limit ) . Really enjoying the content . Just know whatever the decision ( I say this on behalf of everyone) we all have your back . Thank you for all you have done for us Tim ( and Helen for the merch ) . Have a nice time in the Lake District. Best of luck . Ewan

If data shredders value you and your driving ability and all the free advertising you give them they will offer you a subbie position.

Tim, you should stay exactly where you are until you have the paperwork in place for owner operator, plus enough in the back pocket for the associated costs, a yard, poss. trailers, importantly somewhere secure to park your units. Ontop of that, you need to be sourcing some haulage work, and possibly that will have an influence on the insurance requirements and own truck age. Can't have an older truck for work into London, etc.

Another great video Tim, the ending was very funny.
In terms of whether you should leave Data Shredders, as a self-employed business owner, this is how I'd approach it. I'd go part time, say two days a week IF you're earning the equivalent full time wage through RUclips, week in, week out. You HAVE to think with your head, not your heart, otherwise you'll be losing money.
I'm not a trucker, but getting your owner operator licence will take up more time than your current position with Data Shredders. Being self-employed isn't glamorous, you'll work harder than you've ever worked before to make a success of it, which is not what you want to do.
Just my thoughts - message me with any business questions. Can't wait for the next video!

Hi Tim first time I’ve messaged luv your videos
Don’t quit your job until you’ve got your OL if that’s what you want to do. It’s hard work mate getting your OL. First need your transport manager CPC 2 week course & around 2k it has a pass rate of 28% or was 6yrs ago when I was looking into it if your getting it yourself.
Having your own truck is very very hard mate a lot of very long long hours & weeks I know!
work rates are not great, brake downs, inspections every 6-8 weeks, fuel, truck insurance, load & liable insurance, customer taking 60-90 days to pay etc You need around 30K just to get started and show a bank balance of around 23k for 3 months just to get your OL I believe I’m going back like say 6yrs when I looked into it
If it’s what you want to do go for it mate but make sure you’ve got money in the back just incase
Luv your content but don’t kill yourself

Maybe go for a job where they can accommodate your needs ie 2 days a week but go to a company who’s got a really nice fleet behind them , then it makes for great content in terms of what your driving and others around you / and Incorporate a sponsor into such as maybe 3 days a week 2 driving and one filming fleet content ect ? Just another idea

You would be mad to give up your data shredder job. Easy runs, early finishes, Wear what u want.
It’s that job that got u recognised to set u up for your rewarding social media income.
Dont change the formula Tim you might end up regretting it.

I obviously don’t know your entire circumstances ie your financial situation etc and how that would all be affected by leaving data shredders. But from what you have told us I don’t think at the minute it is a wise idea to quit your job at data shredders completely but from what you’ve said going part time at data shredders or other would be a good alternative as the trucking vlogs are a staple part of your channel and the reason most of us subscribed. (I have been missing the TruckerTim Trucking Vlogs)

As most are saying, the professional trucking is how we all got here, so don't completely bin it off. Word of warning about youtube, the money can be great, but it can also disappear in the space of a few months.

Hello Tim, another great video. As someone who came to your channel watching the driving vlogs and really enjoying them. I don't think you should leave datashredders. It's the core of your channel and what most subscribers enjoy. The lifestyle vlogs are a great add on but for me it's all about the driving. I would get the truck rebuild out of the way first then consider your future. Ultimately it's yours and Helen's decision and whatever it is i wish you all the best for the future 👍

Hi Tim, could you not try doing a 4on/4off job if.you could find one. Give just enough time to film for your social media, but also 4 days off to do other things.
I hope your vlogs stay, as me and my little boy love watching.them.
Keep up the good work, mate. All the best.

Your channel is based around your truck driving with DS. Whilst the idea of your own truck is a good idea, the current ‘economic climate’ would be a bad move. We still have a population that has spare money to spend ie sponsorship and merch purchasing which with rising costs that spare cash will soon dry up as the cost of energy over the winter months hits.
You have a solid paying job with DS and that will provide all the content you will need to keep us coming back.
I know you’ve dabbled with the idea of a video editor before and of course it was a complete farce, however I’m sure if you put out there through this channel or other outlets you require a editor, you’ll have plenty in your inbox who will get what your videos are about and how you want your videos to be presented.

Getting your OOL and another truck could be great for the channel, as long as you can get plenty of work. I wouldn't be quitting until you have all those sorted.
