I just bought a 1989 Toyota dolphin RV the beginning of April 24. It’s not four-wheel-drive of course it was redone in 2006 and so was the engine. I love the big windows in them and the bathroom. I’m going to change a few things initially. I wanted it to be more or less off grid. Then overtime, I’m going have other things done. But I love it. I paid 7000. I plan on putting a little bit of money into it over time. It’s a lot of money for it. It has been beautifully redone. It would cost me a fortune cause I couldn’t do it myself.
@@pnwxplored Subed! I checked your IG profile. Haha you have a very cool T-shirt with a pocket for a beercan xDDD Very cool. Cheers from Ukraine! God Bless the U.S.A.
Wow. What an awesome personal build that suited your needs at the time. Outstanding. I have to laugh at the "money" comments from people who do not recognize what a unicorn the Sunrader is/has become. Imagine something like this being produced today, with all the upgrades you did, and how much it would cost to produce a short wheelbase product like this again coming from an OEM. I personally would love to see a small Class C motorhome like this manufactured again. With the advancements of battery and solar tech, a midsize truck platform for something like this would be incredible. I would want that 4 burner range with an oven powered by propane along with a modern all DC powered everything else, heck a guy can dream. Our options now are van based that are mostly larger, and less capable of getting to remote spots the Sunrader was capable of. The Sunrader was a magic collection of right angle boxes arranged just right. Please Toyota, bring it back!
Thanks! Put a lot of hard work in her. Now building out my 95 Tacoma, with 80’s Wildernest Tent with wood stove and slide out fridge, consider subscribing, watch my Ghost Forest video I have a walk thru
I know! A lot of work to buy an 80’s and transfer it to a new taco! It can be done. For now Im enjoying my 95 taco with a wildernest tent also retro from the 80’s, check that vid out. Next vid im editing is a Sunrader trip to Beacon Rock State Park. A hike to the top of the rock and some Sup drone shots too form the river
Do it! She’s just sold! a great lady from New Hampshire is picking up this Sat. Will miss her for sure. Cheers mate I’m from Welly. 26 years American based now. Build yours I’ll need one again in 15 years 😎
What are the Yakima towers you used on the factory rack? I just bought some gutter towers and artificial gutters but if I can avoid drilling into the fiberglass I’d prefer to do that
I found a used Yakima showboat roller setup with round bar clamps that attached to my existing Sunrader rails. I did have to beef up the Sunrader rack, I slid inside galvanized piping to stop them bending.
It was factory made the fibreglass box. I used a marine “blue seas” magnetic type batter combiner/isolater and charging via solar or altenator. You can isolate one battery just for engine while remote or use both if your crank battery fails 👍 Awesome system.

I've only seen a few pics on fb of this...I messaged you asking if you needed a kidney because I have one to trade lol...but...after seeing the whole video...do you need two kidneys? I'm not saying they will both be mine lol. Really beautiful rv and it's exactly what I would want.. but way out of my grasp.
Not to be rude, but i would rather buy a clean pop-up FWC camper for 10k and throw on my F250 or 30k for a new one. I have a 87 Toyota 4x4, love it, but even a stock turbo was only like 120 HP factory, even if its 150, gutless, my full size F250 is 350 HP and a heck of a lot better to drive than the Toyota, your rig is beautiful indeed, but not worth that much money, even if they made one of them.
Not to be rude back at ya, it sold for $65,000. Rarity and collector Toyota status. I purchased a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 Limited with custom bumpers and winch, 35” tires and matching canopy for the sale price and will pull our motorcycles in a 2020 Desert Fox toy hauler.
