This was one of the best conversations I've seen on this show, IMO! Tamera is so on point here, sometimes a girl just has to see the true nature of a person/situation for herself and everyone else has no choice but to stand by and watch after making their opinions known at least once. I also agree with Adrienne so much that a man only treats you how you allow yourself to be treated. I've learned that a guy's treatment of you *always* reflects YOU. If you don't like yourself, have low self-esteem or feel unworthy, you will find that guys treat you just that way. I always came to the conclusion that I'm the one in control; if I allow a man to mistreat me then he will; if I love myself too much to tolerate disrespect then a rotten guy will not be around for long.
On this topic, I agree with the point of NEVER giving "man advice." It breaks up friendships, causes drama between family members...because let's face it: FALLING IN LOVE DEEP=COMMON SENSE IS SUBTRACTED FROM THE EQUATION. And, I think it is worse for women. I've had the experience of a friend calling you all hours of the morning crying and complaining, and then when you say one thing that she doesn't like about how wrong he is for her, she will cut you off in a heartbeat...even if you all are besties. And, this is even worse in a case where the man is not just playing her, but abusing her (verbal, physical, etc.) Falling too deep is scary. It's to a point where I can say as a 30 y/o woman that I always watch men with a third eye, especially in the beginning phase and have NEVER loved a man more than he's loved me. I'm a good personality picker and I can have you pinned when I first meet you. So for my friends, I'm honest and upfront. Hey this guy has some red flags, he's gonna hurt you etc. then I tell them to be cautious if they still choose to be with that person. I tell them, "it's your decision, but just look out for xyz. I'll kick some butt if I have to, but just be careful." I told that to my now husband about several of his friends after I had been his tag along and said "this is what is happening, this is what they are doing, this is how they're treating you blah blah blah." And I say "you can hang out with them but I am not going to put myself in that kind of situation." Recently a friend of his from middle school started taking advantage of him and his kindness and would always call to ask for money or help or whatever, she would never call to check up on him or me and it took him up until last month to see the pattern. She and I were close at one point and then the using us started becoming very frequent so I told my husband. "Out of sight out of mind" until she can call and not want something from us I don't want to have anything to do with her, I don't want to hear about her nothing! She isn't being a friend she is using us as a bank. A friendship requires reciprocity. And until she starts showing reciprocity I wash my hands of her.

On this topic, I agree with the point of NEVER giving "man advice." It breaks up friendships, causes drama between family members...because let's face it: FALLING IN LOVE DEEP=COMMON SENSE IS SUBTRACTED FROM THE EQUATION. And, I think it is worse for women. I've had the experience of a friend calling you all hours of the morning crying and complaining, and then when you say one thing that she doesn't like about how wrong he is for her, she will cut you off in a heartbeat...even if you all are besties. And, this is even worse in a case where the man is not just playing her, but abusing her (verbal, physical, etc.) Falling too deep is scary. It's to a point where I can say as a 30 y/o woman that I always watch men with a third eye, especially in the beginning phase and have NEVER loved a man more than he's loved me. Because when folks fall too deep, they lose a large chunk of judgement. Just my opinion.

Ultimately, we can't get in the way of another person's grow just because we disagree with the way they obtain their growth. We don't have to deal with things in life the same just because we have similar experiences. It shouldn't stop you from showing care and concern for your friend(s) when you see them getting into something that is less that what we view they are truly worthy of. Just be there for them after they have had enough of getting knocked down and they're ready to get up and move on. Otherwise, you may find yourself low and angry right along with them.

I'm a good personality picker and I can have you pinned when I first meet you. So for my friends, I'm honest and upfront. Hey this guy has some red flags, he's gonna hurt you etc. then I tell them to be cautious if they still choose to be with that person. I tell them, "it's your decision, but just look out for xyz. I'll kick some butt if I have to, but just be careful." I told that to my now husband about several of his friends after I had been his tag along and said "this is what is happening, this is what they are doing, this is how they're treating you blah blah blah." And I say "you can hang out with them but I am not going to put myself in that kind of situation." Recently a friend of his from middle school started taking advantage of him and his kindness and would always call to ask for money or help or whatever, she would never call to check up on him or me and it took him up until last month to see the pattern. She and I were close at one point and then the using us started becoming very frequent so I told my husband. "Out of sight out of mind" until she can call and not want something from us I don't want to have anything to do with her, I don't want to hear about her nothing! She isn't being a friend she is using us as a bank. A friendship requires reciprocity. And until she starts showing reciprocity I wash my hands of her.
