Who has forgotten how Father Philip treated his eldest son Charles, calling him a jerk? Philip was smart. CANCER at the age of 75, along with dementia and other old people's affairs, is the END. Charles likes to sleep with the devil. He doesn't care about the beautiful Diana and his sons. Although they are the best and dearest thing in his worthless life.

The citizens in the States loved Princess Diana as well ..I remember the day she died was the same day we buried my own grandfather and my heart was completely broken in many pieces ...never to be repaired.. though we love and respect the Queen ; we truly loved Diana. She was a beautiful woman her whole life and I related to her having been a nursery scho teacher myself

With little formal education Diana became one of the UKs best Ambassadors ever because she had high emotional intelligence and she was genuine and authentic in her compassion for others.
I wonder what Carol thinks when she sees her daughter out doing her job and so well, to see her transform into the woman she is. She seems to be down to earth yet regal at the same t time, and approachable. Respectful of the Royal way of life and protocol yet brings a naturalness to it as well

Sophie has more than stepped up to the plate, proving to be a calm presence around and for the Late Queen and has her own look now. She is great.

Charles wasn’t forbidden to marry Camilla. If he had put his foot down,as he later would do, he could have gotten his way, but Camilla actually wanted to marry Andrew-Parker Bowles who was the most eligible bachelor of the time.
Diana was sure that she would marry Prince Andrew when she grew up. Her family took to calling her Dutch because they were also sure she would marry Andrew and become a Duchess. Once Diana realized that she could actually catch Charles, the chase was on and facilitated by her family.
Diana feigned interest in Charles’ interests and hobbies (Balmoral, fishing hunting, etc.)-basically, she pretended to be who Camilla is, a hunting, shooting, fishing, reading country girl. Then as soon as they were on their honeymoon (most of which was at Balmoral), Diana declared each of his interests as borrrring. When the honeymoon moved on to Balmoral she would have have fits of screaming and crying when he wouldn’t do what she wanted when she wanted him to do it (the court was at Balmoral for the summer so there was official business going on and many witnesses). After the honeymoon she proceeded to, one by one, separate him from his friends (he would give in to avoid conflict with her), then his staff (who would quit because she would not look at or speak to those she wanted to leave.
In her mind, she loved him, but then attempted to change everything about him, and if he wanted any kind of peace, he would comply. Diana and her family, particularly the Spencers, were very ambitious and misrepresented who she was to the RF, particularly regarding her emotional health & stability. The Spencer’s actually had a bit of a reputation for unstable men (Diana’s mom cited abuse in the divorce), but the RF didn’t think the mental issues affect the Spencer women. Diana actually refused to cooperate with mental health professionals provided by the RF when they realized how unstable she was, and wouldn’t accept mental health help for years (yes, the RF tried to get her professional help) until a friend threatened to out her bulimia to the press because she was afraid it would kill her.
And that is just how she treated Charles. As a grown woman she held hostility towards her mother for leaving her abusive father (her mother took Diana & her brother with her but lost custody), pushed her 60 year old stepmother down the stairs (long after Diana married btw), threw her stepmother’s things out the window in trash bags after her father died, fired one staff for claiming expenses with the palace for some trips with Diana (completely legitimate expenses), and fired another who was the currier delivering tapes to Andrew Morten for her for accepting reimbursement from the publishing company.
The virginal “Shy Di” persona was completely a creation of a press. A bit like the common impression that the Queen Mother “sweet ol’granny.”

Charles and Diana should have had a long engagement of at least two years. Instead, they rushed into marriage without really knowing much about each other. A longer engagement would have allowed them to experience their future marriage during adversity and their compatibility or lack thereof.

Well Princess Margaret's behaviour was beyond appalling. She was lazy, an alcoholic and a tart. Her blatant relationship with Roddy Llewellyn (and others) was as embarrassing or more so than the behaviours of those who followed her. She was a chain smoker and had a member of staff following her around with an ashtray. Did she ever do much in the way of charitable work, which was after all the reason why working Royals are paid? Nobody was allowed to call her by her Christian name. She demanded to be called Ma'am by everyone except some of the more favoured were allowed to call her Ma'am Darling. It didn't work out well for her. She had every advantage and was the architect of her own demise.

A very pitiful situation that honestly could only be solved and mended if Harry will be separated from her and see the whole picture through the distance. Harry needs help and Megan needs to be put in her place as she surely is well aware of what she's doing. Learning the hard way for Harry would also be a good eye opener. Diana didn't live long enough to remarry, she died one year after getting divorced. I'm sure she would have done eventually if that hadn't happened.

I, as an American have until recently, with the Queen's passing can't imagine anyone who can wear the Crown like Queen Elizabeth. Something her youngest son desperately needs to learn as The Duke of Sussex. His wife, who'll not be named, will NEVER have the capability to capture the hearts of the entire world. Diana had always been put in a difficult position as a young bride to her philanthropic endeavors. She was always her own person, once her marriage began to crumble, until her unfortunate passing. i think these kinds of comments about what charles thought or didn't think are unhelpful. Remind yourself that back in those days there was not the same knowledge there is today. Most men had no idea what to do (or women) or how to handle the issues that Diana had. in fact, all their marriage did was escalate the mental illness that she already had. Realistically - she had not done any 'self work' at that stage (before her marriage) and it is unlikely she would have found happiness with anyone at all. i believe the shame is that basically her life ended just as it was beginning, when she finally understood herself and her reactions. Happiness was there for her.. within sight and reach and her life was ended. that is the tragedy..

Charles was cold and uncaring, which is different than being concerned but perhaps not fully understanding. It's obvious he didn't want to understand or be supportive. It wasn't just that eating disorders were little talked about. He clearly knew that cheating on her and gaslighting her whilst having all their friends gaslight her, too, would, perhaps, be extremely hurtful even to someone who had dealt with their baggage. Excusing Charles's behavior is inexcusable.

He doesn't seem to be cold and uncaring (in fact what we do know about him is that he is very caring based on his hobbies and philanthropical activities). was he cold to diana? Quite possibly but .. how would a person manage that kind of emotional beahviour when there is no training in mental health? He potentially wasn't aware that it was 'mental illness' and thought she was simply over reactive, emotionally manipulative, demanding and all out cra-cra.. (at the time it was happening). if you have lived with someone with mental illness who can 'go off like a fire cracker' most people will simply be silent rather than risk an explosion. the silence can be perceived as 'coldness or a lack of care' when its simply self preservation. either way - none of will or can possibly know what was going on inside the marriage.
