Okay… I’m gonna say they shouldn’t be running… That said, you drop a bike at speed… especially when the dumbass rider isn’t wearing gear, it’s not like a car where they might get a little hurt. It’s pretty much maiming and killing the rider. For a dumb kid doing something stupid (like not having a license, or if a Dirt bike, perhaps lacking street-legal requirements) and running because it’s a thrill. That’s overkill… That said, I have seen some of these where a rider runs right into a pedestrian… in which case, the argument could be made that it’s justifiable to protect the public. It’s kind of a tough line to walk.
What about the cops who are putting people at risk when they drive into oncoming traffic trying to catch the riders, or running into the bikers, trying to pull them off their bikes? The cops act just as foolishly, but I guess since it's in the name of the law it's ok. When the cops start chasing, they're actually putting more lives at risk than if the bikers were just speeding down the road.

I know that the PIT maneuver against cars is considered use of deadly force and spike strips for popping tires on bikes is too, so my guess is that ramming a bike is as well - but i'm not really sure about that. It probably should be, if nothing else. IMO get the plates and let them go. You don't need to catch them right then and there to pull out a felony warrant for fleeing...
@@benzohar6639 They can't put out a felony warrant when they don't know who they are. These guys run without plates and often burn off VIN numbers if the bike is even theirs. Cops can use whatever force deemed appropriate to either end a pursuit (especially one where the bikes are endangering others). They usually don't run into them, they force the bike to run into the car or off the road without touching them. It happens, but once the bikes start to flee from a lawful attempted stop they are guilty of felony evading. If they hit the cop car it's assault on an officer. The cops try to get the ones with the cameras because they're usually stupid enough to have personal images on them, faces, homes, other vehicles plates, etc. The PIT maneuver is considered "use of force" in most jurisdictions. Deadly force in others. Some don't use it. Spike strips isn't, at least on 4 wheels. PIT is only to be used as a last option. These bike pricks usually force that option. They not only set out to harass police, they try to intimidate them with numbers and many have started carrying firearms. They are quite literally gangs and are treated as such.

I know (used to know) two people who died after getting T-Boned by a bike that ran a red light at an intersection doing close to 100, both people in the car (that was going the 40 mph speed) plowed into another oncoming car, one died from head trauma and the other died from internal bleeding after her shredded ribs tore apart her internal organs. A hundred different scenario's exist, they don't just put traffic laws in for the hell of it.

I know that the PIT maneuver against cars is considered use of deadly force and spike strips for popping tires on bikes is too, so my guess is that ramming a bike is as well - but i'm not really sure about that. It probably should be, if nothing else. IMO get the plates and let them go. You don't need to catch them right then and there to pull out a felony warrant for fleeing...

Cops can use whatever force deemed appropriate to either end a pursuit (especially one where the bikes are endangering others). They usually don't run into them, they force the bike to run into the car or off the road without touching them. It happens, but once the bikes start to flee from a lawful attempted stop they are guilty of felony evading. If they hit the cop car it's assault on an officer. The cops try to get the ones with the cameras because they're usually stupid enough to have personal images on them, faces, homes, other vehicles plates, etc. The PIT maneuver is considered "use of force" in most jurisdictions. Deadly force in others. Some don't use it. Spike strips isn't, at least on 4 wheels. PIT is only to be used as a last option. These bike pricks usually force that option. They not only set out to harass police, they try to intimidate them with numbers and many have started carrying firearms. They are quite literally gangs and are treated as such.
