I've been doing this stitch for yeeeeeears and had no idea what it was called. I like that fact that you use a paper tube, I can start it without the paper tube, but I can see how much easier it is with the tube! thanks so much!!
Thank you for your tutorial. Your technique is better than others that I have found. I struggle with the beginning and this has helped me tremendously.
This is a good tutorial. I would enjoy seeing how you add different sizes while working tubular peyote, if possible. I will give this a try because the pieces you show with different size beads are stunning.
Thank you for sharing ❤ I have been looking for ever for a flower pattern in using the same technique as you are in the video Could you please help me ? Thank you , Brenda ❤.
It would have been very helpful to have used light colored beads with contrasting black thread. The black beads and black thread are not distinguishable. Please show top of beads so you can see them popping up. Thanks.
I did enjoy the video but feel it would help if the vid. showed us HOW to change up the beads to make a tubular peyote rope that LOOKS like it's SPIRALING. I thought that this is what this video would show me. Do you have a link to a video such as that please Artbeads. Thanks for this one
So, do you always need an even number of beads? What if I have a project that I need beads around, and an odd number fit comfortably instead of an even amount? Is there a trick specially for odd numbers of beads?
Nevermind, apparently there are two methods, one for even number of beads and one for *ODD* number of beads, the odd number doesn't involve the "step up" method, but also works more in a spiral than an individual row.
Hi Wendy! We used seed beads from our Swanky Sage Designer Seed Bead Blend. You can find this blend here: www.artbeads.com/artbeads-swanky-sage-designer-blend-8-0-toho-round-seed-beads/
Hi I have been trying to do a tubular rope. I start with 12 beads in a ring then peyote into every other bead which makes a 6 bead around. So far so good the problem now that I have is the tube seems to be very rigid after doing about 2 inches. I haven't do anymore than this because I'm afraid it won't be flexible enough for a necklace. I am using size 11 seed beads and 6lb fireline I have also played with tension but it still remains rigid. Will it start to form a curve eventually if I just carry on ?
+June Burt Hi June! 6lb FireLine is a great option. I think if you keep going, it will be more flexible. However, if you are still worried about rigidity, try using KO beading thread. That might make it a little more flexible. Shop our selection here: www.artbeads.com/ko-nylon-japanese-beading-thread.html - Becky
Hi there. It depends on how wide your tube is. This one is a little thinner than a pencil, so the paper tube was probably the most convenient. Hope this helps!
I have a bit of a problem. My tubular peyote doesn't really look the way it should. To make it look like yours, I would have to fill the inside of it somehow... Otherwise, it doesn't stay the way it should (some beads go inside too much when I make it tighter or the bracelet flattens if I don't). Do you have any tips for me? Or could it be caused my the thread I am using (it is simple sewing thread)? Thanks for your help!
Hi *****. Can you tell us how many beads you are using for each row and what size of beads you are using. That may help us in answering your question. Thanks! - Becky
ArtbeadsVideos I've tried 12 beads for each row at first, then I decided it to narrow it to 8 and eventually to 6. I am using size 8/0 and 9/0 beads and I got the same results with both. I really have a feeling it could be caused by the thread or I am just somehow doing it wrong.. :/
Hi again ***** - Leslie uses 10 beads which becomes two rows of five, so you should be fine with how many you are using. Are you using a paper tube or pencil to support the beads while stitching? That can sometimes help. Take a look at this PDF diagram for the stitch if you haven't already: ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/artbeads/HT-2014-tubular-peyote.pdf. That may help. - Becky
+Sissi Wolff We have an excellent page on your website that explains how to add in new thread if you run out! Check it out here: www.artbeads.com/bead-weaving-thread-tips.html. Also this video shows the technique in action: www.artbeads.com/adding-thread-cellini-tutorial-video.html. I hope this helps! - Becky
+RubyStandingDEER Hi there! There are lots of ways to finish tubular peyote projects. You can create a beaded toggle by continuing to stitch on seed beads, or you can use end caps to cover the ends, like we did in this project: www.artbeads.com/pebble-path-tubular-peyote-stitch-bracelet.html. This video is just meant to teach you the technique so you can take your projects in whichever direction you choose! - Becky
Hi lucia. You can use a diagram for Cellini spiral to help you with spiraling color. Cellini spiral is a form of tubular peyote stitch where you switch up the size of the beads to create a spiral. You can apply the same idea with switching up the colors. Take a look at this diagram to help you with a spiraling effect in your tubular peyote: cms.artbeads.com/docs/default-source/tutorials/pdfs/abt-20170803-cellini-stitch-diagram.pdf
Hi. We use beading thread for stitches like tubular peyote and we always start with about three feet of thread. If you need to add more, you can while stitching. You can learn all about adding thread here: www.artbeads.com/design-studio/bead-weaving-thread-tips/
Hi Carmen. If you used the smallest seed beads and made a short sample of the stitch, you could make an earring. Or you could put a small sample of the stitch on a piece of leather or wire for hoop earrings.
+Diogo Caldas Hi there. In order to make a necklace, you are correct, you would just continue the stitch until the rope was the length you preferred. I hope this answers your question!
We're sorry you're having so much trouble, Marianne. Have you tried looking at the PDF diagram? It has further instructions for the stitch. Find it here: ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/artbeads/HT-2014-tubular-peyote.pdf. You can always call our Customer Service team for more help. Reach them at 1.253.857.3433.
I will check it out, thank you! It Was just so frustrating, the beads did not want to sit on top of each other, and then I lost track of how many was applied, and so on. I will try again later :)
Hi there. You can use FireLine or WildFire for this type of work. Find FireLine here: www.artbeads.com/fireline-braided-thread/ and WildFire here: www.artbeads.com/wildfire-bonded-thread/ - Becky
Hi there. Thank you for the feedback! We will keep this in mind with future videos. You might be interested in our PDF diagram for Cellini Spiral stitch. Cellini Spiral is the same technique as tubular peyote, just with beads in different sizes to create the spiral look. You would use the same technique with beads that are all the same size for tubular peyote. Check it out here: cms.artbeads.com/docs/default-source/tutorials/pdfs/abt-20170803-cellini-stitch-diagram.pdf

Thanks for your video. Nice Job.

Is this the same way the toggle is made? If so, looks like a whole lot easier!

Im pretty new to this but could you also use a piece of tubing, a pencil, or something more solid - or would that cause problems?

The ring u have on in this video, is there a tutorial for it?
Hi Nancy. We do not have a tutorial for Leslie's ring, unfortunately.
What kind of thread do you use? material?
SOMEONE COULD HELP ME ?
IF I WANT TO MAKE A NECKLACE , IS ONLY US CONTINUE THIS SAME PROCESS CONTINUOUS UP TO A SIZE OF A NECKLACE ?
+Diogo Caldas Hi there. In order to make a necklace, you are correct, you would just continue the stitch until the rope was the length you preferred. I hope this answers your question!

Pretty but maybe too tedious for me.

She should have used lighter colors. It's hard to see the step up.
I keep clicking on your video because of the pic you have up but then your not talking about the one shown... GRRR
