Great episode! From about 2012 till 2015 I had a fierce competition with Dusan doing Big Days in the Netherlands. His team versus my team. Each year was the same story. We would go first and beat their record of the previous year and then a couple of days later they would beat us again. But after we got the record over 200 (which is a tremendous amount for such a small European country) in 2016 they stopped doing Big Days in the Netherlands. Now Dusan and I both still have our records. I in the Netherlands and he globally ^-^
Great, I was missing the show! That record is unbalivable. Before you said the number I was thinking maybe 300 species. They did a specie every 3 minutes more or less. More species than i have seen in my entire life.
Awesome episode! Well deserved recognition for Dusan and his teammates. I had the pleasure of birding on tour with Dusan recently and not only is he a phenomenal and enthusiastically infectious birder, but he is also a genuinely nice chap! Hearty congratulations!
Excellent episode guys, I loved it! Two years ago I had the good fortune of birding in Ecuador on a similar route, but of course for two weeks, not 24 hours! I did see the dipper at Guango Lodge but dipped on the torrent duck. One thing I would have asked Dusan is whether it was his/their only attempt at breaking the record in Ecuador, or did they try it before? Question for you guys: Have you tried getting Peter Kaestner on the show on the occasion of his 10,000 species?
It’s wonderful to see nice fellows achieve high goals and stay modest and be generous with credit to others.

Nice, I was watting for a Studio sessions episode, long time ago!
this one was recorded a while ago actually... a new one coming soon!
I LOVE that his team provided evidence. Too many big year/day records come with little to no evidence.
