Good effort! I think this was a really great lesson in just how "physical" modern tennis really is, especially on slow red clay. Your opponent was simply physically stronger than you and his shots had more natural weight/heavier spin, even though you were better at flattening out your shots and taking more risk. IMO, in terms of the bigger picture, you need to find at least two 4-week training blocks (possibly even 3) over the course of a full year where your PRIMARY focus is on gaining total body strength, with an extra emphasis on your legs, core and shoulders. One of the biggest benefits of all strong US college tennis programs, aside from the competition, is their emphasis on off court weight training for strength and power. Just my 2 cents. All the best and I look forward to watching your continuing journey!
I like the idea but it's just so hard to find blocks like that with how long the tennis season is. Maybe November December but there isn't much off season so sometimes it means trying to figure out how to manage a year round sustainable program. Getting knocked out of tournaments can help too
Thanks to both of you for an amazing tennis session. I'm following Felix from the the start and is so encouraging and useful for my own tennis adventure that became part of my coaching. By the way, the pro guy ranked 1241, that was awesome to see him flying the court reaching every ball... I'm impressed!!
Hell yeah Felix. LET's GO. I always root for you to do well in these matches. I like your personality and it makes me pull for all your tournies and hopefully you can bag more victories.
Hi Felix, tough match against a very strong opponent. You're not far away. A few tweaks tactically here and there and a few wins and you'll be off! Will look forward to watch yourlast few events of the season. Finish strong and go for it!
Hey dude, I would like so much on a video in which you tell us your racquet configuration, what strings you use, the lb you use on it, the weight of your racquet, and why you chose that over others. Thank you!
Great job, Felix! Btw, I noticed your opponent foot faulted a lot during the match. If stuff like that happens, you can let some officials know about that. They’ll take care of that.
The view of the court is incredible! From the looks of it your backhand has improved, although a few errors crept up under pressure. I think the slice needs a bit of work, some looked good but others were a little bit floaty. Overall tough opponent - just wished you took the first set.
I played once in the Calanques (south France) the courts where on the montain with a view on the sea. Even if it was really hot like 35° C we had the wind from the sea. It was amazing
Try to use more legs to your shots. Look how down he gets to get another form of body stand. This might has more contol and heavy return than run to get the ball on high.. Get more time ... On serve too.. You are having great progress !!! Congrats & Enjoy
Felix, you have to include net-playing much more to your game strategy, mixed with slow balls, shorter balls and drop shots. Get creative. And analyse Federer's gameplay! Tennis has a lot to do with probability calculation. If your opponent makes less mistakes you have to change your strategy. In such cases get creative or loose. Last thing, tennis has all to do with confidence. Get your opponent to doubt himself. Make him think!
so much suspense watching this, getting up a quick break then getting broke back. solid game Felix, hope you keep progressing and achieving your goals out there
Sup bro. Thanks for the content, as always!! I had the impression that was your most consistent match even though you got tired at the end. You are in the right path. Things i think you should talk to your coach : following the idea of staying more in the point like you did, you have to get the control of the point more often but without risking too much, just using ball high and depth so then you can approach the net more often mid point, in good conditions of winning the point and putting pressure on your opponent. Keep it up buddy, your 1st point is getting closer. See you in ur nxt vid ✌️
I don't think taking risk and going for winners on many of the key points was always the correct choice. Yeah top players won't miss on those key points but you could wait for a slightly easier ball before going for a more attacking shot, slowly building up the rally. Also now you are getting used to the pace of these matches, I would try and slow yourself down a little so you're breathing and thinking more about shot selection, and play for more angles and waiting for your opponent to move or mis read your shot selection - easier said than done but I think this could help you.
Gonna need to hit deeper than that if you want to control the center of the court. Looks like too many down the shots line get you in trouble from being mediocre and are hit without much purpose.
How do you deal with lack of confidence on your backhand? You mentioned that you worked on it a lot, so did you feel nervous at all while hitting it? I’ve been working on my forehand, but when i play tournaments i get nervous and slow down my racquet head speed.
It looks like your risk-taking ("decisiveness") pays off early in the game when you are fresh and your game is still an unknown. But when you lose even a bit of edge due to physical overdoing, your luck runs out on these choices. I'm sure that with more matching, adjustments will fall in place; practice can't really help there, but being aware of the factors that make you ace or fail should.
When Giannicola served from deuce court, his back foot crossed the center mark. That's a fault. He probably had never played any tournament with line judges.
Good luck Felix, I’m enjoying your channel and wishing you good luck. Media career taking off as well perhaps ?! You’ve got a great attitude and I hope all the hard work pays off .
Nice videos as always Felix!! Btw what camera do you use to record the matches? I would like to record myself to review matches and improve and am looking for a setup.
What an amazing place that looks and really well played. You will start to win more matches as your game is imroving every week however i feel like you could have played more attacking that match to make the rallies shorter as he was a very fit, physical player and langer rallies suited him more. Keep up the good work i cant wait to see more👍
Tough match, he's obviously beatable as he's not that highly ranked but he got to play his game against you today. I am sure your coach will have some thoughts on tactics - perhaps just taking those smashes better and working on that down the line backhand would be enough?
just wondering but i noticed something odd in the 3rd game of the 2nd set. i noticed it when it was 30-30 but you were serving on the left side. This continued into when it was 30-40 and with the voiceover it seemed to have been correct. was there an error somewhere in that game?
Well played. Here's my quick analysis. You played a little bit too much into his strengths by letting him continue to push you back. Against players like that, you need to commit to your court positioning and continue to play aggressive. It's way easier said than done because that weight of shot is going to continue to come at you, but you have to use your feet to get in position to take the ball early and take away time from your opponent. You did really well on points that you came to net on and when you mixed things up with the serve and volley. A player for you to watch, just judging by your game style is Alex DiMinaur. Watch the way he moves on the court and hugs the baseline. Bottom line, commit to being aggressive, use that forehand, and keep looking for opportunities to move forward.
GL before the video stars as well 🙏🏾 either way your form is coming together! Time to get that robot type of body figure that we all see in the ATP. Your doing the right stuff bro
I think you got a great technic of shots and nice moving. What i saw here , you had lack of aggression. Do not wait what your opponents will do , just play your game and push them , be more aggressive. You got a great potential , need to practice more how to use it
Thank you for posting! It’s high level match. I enjoyed watching. Based on your match videos, I believe if you hit more balls deeper, you would win more games.
Great match! Work on your in to in more, you kept getting down on the inside out when you approached the net. If you had kept him guessing more I think you would of got a few more points. tough condition awesome match, you’ve improved loads 😮
Gréât effort. Id work on Anticipation to take it early on neutrals - easier said than done but you’re grinding from behind too much - even if you win that takes a physical toll out of you if you want to get through multiple rounds. Just my silly little opinion ;)
Definitely a notable difference!! I see quite a bit of improved overall quality. I still think you should move forward more ofter. I really think if you are able to win one of these matches it will foster the self-belief you need. It seems as if in the back of your mind, no matter how well the match is going, you are subconsciously expecting for things to turn south at some point. It's easier said than done, but I am optimistic that you will get there! Best of luck
Congrats on keeping the good morale, and keep practicing.I am also following Iori yoshida. He is an aspiring player. Not as young as you are. Could you organize a game, if your paths cross one day? He comes to Europe often
Hee Felix, love the content and your efforts. Keep it up! Sometimes looks you lose points due to footwork, is this something you work on? Giannicola looks like a player that will make a lot of mistakes when you use the slices a lot if I have to analyze his technique.
Nice battle, he was quite solid. Big fan of this series. However, every time your opponent served on the deuce side, he was commiting foot fault, check 02:43, 14:35, 15:08, for example.... Anyway, hope you get your ATP Point soon!

Felix are you injecting test ?
You gain so much weight and your footwork looks very slow🤦🤦🤦
If you do so stop it ..its not good for cardio sports
I dont think felix would do that
I think his footwork wasn't too bad
What camera were you using for this video?
wow that background is stunning and those courts are looking amazing, thx for the content: we all love it
Is it a disadvantage that his opponents can watch his videos and easily prepare?
@@fryliver4953 yes but, like pros can watch each other and they deal with it by switching up their tactics and being flexible with there game
felix, i love your style to, reminds me of djokovic quite a bit 🤩

That guy looks underrated compared to some of the other players you played. That guy looked more like a top 500 guy, he was so consistent.
Great video Felix! Tough match there but great lesson 💪 keep workin, you got it brother- first point is well in sight!!
Felix your backhand is getting so stunning. So amazing now, can’t wait to be as good as you
Surprised there's no ump there because your opponent foot faulted on pretty much every deuce serve
On the flipside, it seemed like your opponent gave you the benefit on about 4 close line calls.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt tho would be if it happened once ever so often not every serve
With no ump, players have the right to call footfault on the opponent. Need to be more attentive.
@dockerface How would you see that from that far away?
You are getting better and better!!! Stay strong!
You have a great mindset towards match points in any match. Love seeing such grit! Results will come brother. Keep it up!
Hell yeah Felix. LET's GO. I always root for you to do well in these matches. I like your personality and it makes me pull for all your tournies and hopefully you can bag more victories.
Hey man, keep up the good work! You’re getting better every match, it’s obvious! Do people on the tournaments recognize you from RUclips?
Everybody knows him 🤣🤣
Hi Felix, tough match against a very strong opponent. You're not far away. A few tweaks tactically here and there and a few wins and you'll be off!
Will look forward to watch yourlast few events of the season. Finish strong and go for it!
Actually, I think this is the best match uploaded here. Very solid play from both of the sides.
The background is that nice it doesn't even look real! Thanks again for another brilliant video 🎾 x

Felix, have you considered doing some tweaks to your racket setup. What is your current one? if you can disclosure it, of course
The view of the court is incredible!

Definitely seeing improvement great job Felix hopefully you can gain some confidence and take it into your next matches
Your backhand has improved so much over this series already
Always a good day when you upload!! Tough match but good playing. You’ve been improving tremendously, keep your head up :)

These videos are great. Please post more esp with the commentary and more tactics for the big matches
Backhand looking much improved man, singles win on the way 📈
so much suspense watching this, getting up a quick break then getting broke back. solid game Felix, hope you keep progressing and achieving your goals out there
You played your best tennis since you started this channel. Keep up the good work

How hard you want to arch your back?
Giannicola: Yes!

Dude, your groundstrokes are looking great! Loose and relaxed.
When Giannicola served from deuce court, his back foot crossed the center mark. That's a fault. He probably had never played any tournament with line judges.
you should practice your dropshot and use more on these clay courts
Your opponent must be a cecchinato fan.. he plays like him🤣
Magari fa semifinale a RG Giannicola nazionale

I love how hard you work!! It’s always a great day when you upload
your serve and volley is looking so crisp
Great stuff Pal. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like your opponent was foot faulting on the deuce side?
I was just about to comment that. Glad I’m not the only one that’s seeing that.
Here here
@@elliotsykes9656 hear hear*
True!!
Felix you were playing soooo good. It's hard to mantain the advantage. Something to work on. Congrats, great game.
jeez what a beautiful place to have some courts! Well played Felix
So many good players in these tournaments.
Is your opponent foot faulting back foot down the middle of the court on the deuce court??? Looks like it. Beautiful court!
yes def a foot fault over the center line
I noticed the same thing and wasn't sure if that counts as a foot fault but it seems like it does.
Hey, do you have some tips to play in clay, I'm having a tournament next week??
Can you detail your video recording on court equipment, and how you set it up? Thanks
What an amazing place that looks and really well played. Also, that is one of the most picturesque settings I've ever seen tennis played. What a dream, playing on the clay in Italy.
Great Video Felix!
Yes indeed great view ! Just wow
Backhand has gotten way better and is looking like your forehdn now

May I ask where the tournament was played?
Hi Felix, i hope one day you can achieve as much as the other Felix in tennis
Congrats on keeping the good morale, and keep practicing.I am also following Iori yoshida. He is an aspiring player. Not as young as you are. Could you organize a game, if your paths cross one day? He comes to Europe often
love the S + V. Where exactly is this gorgeous court?
Dayum😮 he is really good for his level
I would only work with you on depth of your games and making your ball heavier
what does the exclamation “won!” mean when he wins a point is it “won” as in past tense of “win” or some other british word?
This guy used to be itf 42 this was tough
What yonex strings are you using?
Hey Felix! What camera do you use?
Hey Felix good effort on this match! I just wanted to ask what racket do you use?
probably the one right for him 😁
Hee Felix, love the content and your efforts. Keep it up!
Sometimes looks you lose points due to footwork, is this something you work on?
Giannicola looks like a player that will make a lot of mistakes when you use the slices a lot if I have to analyze his technique.
What a court wow🤯🤯
Hey really appreciate your videos. Feels like your opponent had the edge because of his better conditioning. He was running around a lot

2:42 Question for all the tennis rules experts out there… if the server’s foot touches/crosses the center hash mark, is this considered a foot fault?
What’s you ranking
Love ur content and gl ong ur journey

I went down from 5-0 to 7-5 yesterday
Given your progress up until now, how long you think it would take for you to break through the top 1000, 500 etc?

how do you record your matches b
Awesome job Felix, you should focus on practicing put away shots a lot
Already now it’s going to be a banger ! 💙
Gl before the vid starts
clicked this expecting to see the Pietrangeli court in Rome. Next time hopefully
Anyone else noticed how the opponent foot faulted on every serve from the deuce side with his back foot crossing the middle?
