  • Опубликовано: 3 апр 2020
  • A tutorial on how to make an Electronic Piano circuit using 555 timer IC and a few other electronics components. This circuit consists of a number of push button switches (similar to different keys in a piano) which, when pressed, produce sounds with different tones via a speaker. Explanation of how the circuit works is also included in the video.
    Link to the project page and circuit diagram: elonics.org/el...
    Components Required:
    * 555 IC
    * 8 Ohm Speaker
    * Momentary Push Button Switches x 6
    * Capacitors: 100nF, 10uF
    * Resistors: 6 x 1K, 4.7K
    * Breadboard
    * Few Breadboard Connectors
    * (5-9)V of Power Supply
    This circuit uses 555 timer IC in astable mode to generate continuous clock pulses. These pulses are passed into a 8-Ohm speaker and it generates audio with different tones depending on the frequency of clock pulse. In order to understand how 555 timer IC works in astable mode, you can go through the explanation part of this video: • Adjustable Flashing/Bl...

    Great video. Just FYI, the equation for R2 is incorrect. Either the "f" in the denominator of the first term needs to be replaced by "2f" or the 1.44 in the numerator needs to be replaced by 0.72. You got the divide by two for the second term (1k/2 = 500) but the first term needs to be divided by 2 as well.

      If you looks up circuit diagram. You will notice there will be two path for current.
      1. a path that have 1k ohm (lower pitch)
      2. a path that have no resistor. (higher pitch)
      Current will chooses 2.
      Aka. It will short-circuit.
      The result of sound is from button that have higher pitch

    • @elonics

      Yes, it should work given the pot for each push button is independently connected to 555 IC. Instead of cascading them as shown in the video.

      @Shrinivas TN You can try using a 100R in place of 1K and 470R in place of 4.7K and 1uF in place of 100nF. But keep in mind that there will be a lot of power drain through the 100R between Pin-6 and positive rail.
