I'm still not sure why Microsoft needs me to see celebrity gossip in every corner of my operating system.
data collection, so they can sell ad space in their OS. Literally the only reason.
@@roccociccone597 Can it be disabled or at least mitigated in any way?
I know right. Its one of the reasons i don't use Microsoft Edge. I don't need Microsoft shoving news in my face.
@@LegionIscariot It can all be disabled though, also in Edge. Still dumb that it's there in the first place.
@@JamieKitchens6 only if you go out of your way to create a custom iso using a script… I have given up on windows. I left it years ago, but I have a windows vm in case I need word. The bloody user experience is horrible.
Loving the white flashes in explorer, they truly elevate the experience to a whole another level
And Edge, LOL
Getting flashbanged by your OS is tight!
Welcome to Windows 11, shity code behind, fancy effects in front.
I've just switched to a Mac. So it is no longer an issue to me. LOL. I hope Microsoft will fix this in my lifetime.
@@yannpoco In Edge it's unacceptable! They really should've stuck with the modern version instead of downgrading to the win32 version.
1:52 - Dreaming the day when they are going to finally make these pop up windows/confirmation dialogs/progress bars, etc match the new UI design and also make all context menus using the modern design like the right click on desktop...
Keep dreaming..
Now, if only the small taskbar buttons would make a comeback 😊
imagine if almost 2 years after they crapped out a buggy mess, you could set your task-bar position to the side or top of the screen.
@@roccociccone597 i dont get what your trying to say but you can move you taskbar you can move it to the left or keep it in the middle
@@Moochi4 you used to be able to set it at the top left or right of the screen too
@@Moochi4 you can’t reposition the task bar to the side or top of the screen. You can only change how the icons align.
@@vishthemarketer6691 so basically you have to get more software so you can fix microsoft's incompetence... Those features were standard not too long ago you know.
Here we are, closing in on 2 years since the initial announcement of windows 11 and it's still missing basic features like repositioning the taskbar (the whole taskbar to the top or side of the monitor), changing its size, disabling widgets (so the service and process doesn’t run, removing the icon does diddly squats), a consistent dark theme that doesn't blind you every other minute, older core applications still look like they're straight out of 2005, the ability to drag tabs to open a separate window, a task manager that doesn't run like rubbish and doesn't use 10% cpu when clicking on literally anything what so ever, search still can't be easily set to only search local files and here we are applauding them for adding icon ungrouping to the taskbar which was once the default behaviour.
Windows Backup seems like another way for M$ to nag you to use an M$ account or onedrive, since you can't choose which cloud provider you'd like to use, there soon will be ads in your os without a way to remove them and soon you'll have the mother of all key-loggers and screen recorders pre-installed on your PC. Windows co-pilot. The biggest security and privacy problem Windows will ever face. Sounds delightful.
@Laxman Dhotre disabling widgets: some bullshit with Poweshell that’s made purposefully difficult, the drag to open should’ve been added day one, it’s a pathetic that it wasn’t. Everything else I stated still remains true and has been a problem since day 1
by repositioning do you mean putting it in different corners bc you can move it to the left or just keep it in the middle and when it comes to widgets you can just turn them off in the taskbar so you dont see it
@Laxman Dhotre removing the icon is not disabling anything. It’s like clicking delete on a desktop shortcut, it doesn’t uninstall the software. Check the services and processes the widgets are still running. There is an incredibly convoluted way to disable them, but normal users don’t to use the terminal right? That’s what windows users always say when people recommend Linux, so same goes for windows.
@@Moochi4 I mean move the whole task bar to the top or sides of the monitor. I am aware that you can move the icons to the left again. And once more, removing the icon on the taskbar doesn’t mean the service and process doesn’t run anymore. There is literally not easy way to do so.
These days, progress is to bring back features of the past ! What a time to be alive!
sometimes we must lose things to recognize their true value /s
I'll stick to windows 10, still rock solid and packed with all the features removed from 11.
I wish they brought more fluid design like in their teaser videos. the UI looked clean in those videos
that's a pain in the ass to program and will surely affect the performance making it more difficult to develop
@@minecraftjohn727 that's not an excuse
@@vitorgabrielgomesrodrigues well heaving unneeded stress onto less capable systems for exaggerated flashy animations purely for show isn't really a great idea.
@@lukedavalos9378 then don't make those systems be so taxing on performance, look at linux Gnome, a beautiful DE, yet really efficient
@@lukedavalos9378 I am unsure of exactly how much animations would effect performance, but Mac OS feels like an absolute butter smooth experience as opposed to Windows which feels a lot less so, and again, this is an iMac vs a i9 13900k, 4070ti we're talking about
Finally ungrouping is back. I hated it when they removed it from Windows 11.
the 0 badge will get people confused...we are used to it to not have it. now it looks like you have notifications always
Yeah I hate it with passion
I clicked it to get rid of it many times before noticing it was a 0
I doubt that one day we will be excited when windows finally have consistent UI design
Can't wait for this update!!
Gotta admit the dev tools looks nice. Curious though why the theme wasn't changed if settings are restored and previous system used dark mode.
Theme restore is part of the new implementation. In this build it was still early.
Finally it starting to look and function like Windows 10
Just in time for win12 lol
Wow! It looks like the redesigns from concept channels!
Everyone's going for that look now and it feels like it's from the future! If only they would complete the Fluent redesigns...
10:42
was 50Gb on the top text
lol Zac, the dev drive setup had a label stating it must be minimum 50GB.
Nice to see never combine taskbar icons return. Now, only if Microsoft could also restore the option to change taskbar size/height.
2:38 Would be cool if we can have the same theme inside the window as the taskbar & title bar.
Windows Phone pictures from 2019....cool
The new File Explorer is still a mess in dark mode. White flashes all the time.
Well its a pre-release build, the final release will be better
Dark mode looks terrible in the Security portion of the Settings app, too.
@@TheTechnoGuy18 It should have been finished a long time ago when dark mode first showed up...
Good video and glad to see File Explorer getting TLC and app names coming back to the taskbar. However, watching the Dev Drive segment at 11:00 minutes was painful as I was screaming at the screen whilst staring at the minimum 50GB size message at the top of the pane...
Still lovig the ribbon ui in older exporer
Finally some noticeable improvements but HOLY HELL that web based widgets/tabloid panel is still a performance hog. Makes me miss the native UWP live tiles.
Also how is the new backup app different from being signed in to a MS account?
this updates gonna be fire 😁😁😁
Great work Microsoft!
For screwing the operated system. This is why MS is getting more bloated and annoying. Everyone are had it with MS. Shame on you MS for forcing everyone to use it. Everyone should move Linux. Linux is becoming more popular thanks to Windows 11 failure.
me encanta como poco a poco el explorador de windows fue volviendo a su apariencia de windows vista, después del desastre visual de windows 8.
Took 'em long enough
This video was kinda funny in the Dev Drive/Home part, i like it 🤣👌
They really need to get rid of all the news on the widgets section and just make news a small widget instead.
just turn it off
@@Moochi4 How?
There will eventually be an option to turn news off.
@@techwithtyler20 Finally. Can't wait
As a developer, I think that the Dev Home will save my life when setting up on a different computer
Well it looks like they’re creating a reimagined backup tool in Windows I HONESTLY THINK THEY NEED TO SUPPORT LOCAL BACKUPS where you just plug in a hard drive FOR ON SITE RESTORES of your PC
IF you WANT TO USE THE ☁️ good for you
IF you WANT a backup where you plug in a hard drive backup your data and when you get a new PC OR UPGRADE your hard drive OR incur other hardware failures or malware or ransomware attacks you plug in your backup drive during the out of box experience and restore your PC or transfer your files to your new PC from the out of box experience screen
That new backup tool would be good... If you could back up to a local drive
There should be tabs in MS Excel and Word too
it would be cool if they made the entire file explorer have the blur thing instead of just the top bar.
Will be too much distraction.
@@OnlyCitrus make it togglble then! tho it's def not a Microsoft thing lmao
They need to rewrite the folder view first. I believe they have already rewritten the navigation pane but haven't rolled it out yet.
DevHome really looks promising
This is why MS is getting more bloated and annoying. Everyone are had it with MS. Shame on you MS for forcing everyone to use it. Everyone should move Linux. Linux is becoming more popular thanks to Windows 11 failure.

Yeap W11 is not ready yet!! thanks for the your reviews
You should move to Linux.

How about you fix the explorer rendering bug that was brought with 22H2, before introducing new ones?
Good video
That new gallery that pulls from your phone is gonna be very useful to me! I've stopped using phone link as it's always fighting me when I try to use it...
But have they optimized the backend code to make the OS faster and efficient?
The backup feature is long overdo.
I used a utility on W10 for my start menu backup and restore.
The reason why you can’t open the photo (that also applies to the standalone Gallery app) is that by default, when you press on a photo, it marks it for selection (if you want to move, delete or copy photos) and in order to open one, you need to right click on the photo and press Open. Such an unintuitive feature.
finally taskbar show label 10:05
I wonder if there's enterprise-tier backup to local (windows) server in the pipeline?
No because in enterprises you use different backup software altogether.
Crazy that we had to wait this long to get a taskbar that is unbroken.
I didn’t catch when this is released? Also, for the backup, is it only backing up apps that’s solely from Microsoft through the MS store?
The only (weird) issue I've had with win 11, it's when I click in "Open file location" on a shortcut, randomly the file explorer have no translucency, and no buttons to maximize, minimize, close... I have to do a left click on the taskbar to fix it.
with the dev drive can you install application specifically to that drive?
Any change to the right click behavior in explorer. For me the condensed menu is unhelpful way more often than not. I find myself pressing "show more options" nearly every time.
the flashing is gonna drive me crazy lol
This is why leaves Windows to Linux. Linux is becoming more popular than ever thanks to Windows 11 failure.
What's the name of the visualization of the gallery mode where you get a mixed portrait landscape visualization mode for each row, but optimizing space?
File Explorer is looking more like how it did with Windows 7. I like that. I didn't care for the ribbon UI and putting both the navigation buttons and address bar below it. I much preferred how Windows Vista and 7 did it.
I am currently using the Windows Insider Beta Preview because I am afraid the instabilities of earlier versions (such as Dev), can potentially harm my PC and drivers, since it did happen on my old laptop before. Therefore, I have two questions: Is the Dev Insider Channel too unstable or can it potentially damage my PC and drivers and in which Preview channel are these changes released?
When will this come out with the taskbar labels for regular users? Can't wait any longer!
23H2
@@techwithtyler20 is it now out?
@@Max-qt3tp The 9/26 update wasn't 23H2. It will probably come this month.
@@techwithtyler20 okay thanks
have they restored the taskbar functions? I want to be able to move the taskbar around to top edge and small size the taskbar icons.
It would be nice if File explorer had grid options instead of tabs
well other than one thing what i really like is that ai-creates little image on the right of full search bar and the translucent taskbar.... it was previously available on the stable version of win11. but now its showing a bing logo..... cant even get into insider program only have one system ....
Has it started to work better than the Total Commander?
is Group by is new default settings for sorting files ?
Wow windows 11s taskbar has a 4th of a decent customization now instead of none.
Windows 11s taskbar is becoming more unusable. This why everyone are moving to Linux.
@@joshuahernandez-th6ov you are the rudest person on the earth
They are never gonna make "auto-hide taskbar" a polished feature are they
It’s Microsoft, nothing they ever made is polished, with maybe the exception of windows 7
They won't bring usable features. Look how late they are in bringing zip and tar support.
@@roccociccone597 windows 7 was just as bad.
@@Codyslx it was better than Vista
What is added value of dev drive as opposite to making a partition ? I find it hard to believe that average developer don't know how to do that.
Can a dev drive be formatted as ext4 and mounted under a WSL distro? That would be really useful.
I wanna use it with wsl2 as well!
Unfortunately no. The dev drive uses ReFS and you cannot change that. Microsoft says in their documentation that you can access dev drive files via `/mnt/d` in WSL, but it'll suffer from the same performance issues as any other mounted Windows drive.
@@goodwinhull2751 that's too bad :( thanks for the answer though! :)
11:25 This moment was presented to you guys! 😂😂
Where is the copy to and move to buttons ?
I have this build too (i'm also on insider) and i did not get the taskbar combine option nor the phone photo thing in file explorer.
They need to get rid of A/B testing...
Today i went from the pre release channel to Canary and Canary works great so far.

@@joshuahernandez-th6ov I prefer Windows because i am much more used to that and have learned a lot about Windows. And i am a gamer too so another reason i prefer Windows.

How i can delete dev drive if i don't need it.
Is it safe to upgrade from Win10 pro yet? I've been holding off for the dust to settle lol. From the looks of it, things have progressed nicely since I last looked.
the only think I like from win11 is the new media player, although I wish we could modify it so it can display lyrics or read from custom ID3 tags...
The settings icon looks like the settings icon on the older Android devices.

lock screen windows spotlight not working in build 22621.1778
Is the pro version any better as far as customizations? Does anyone know, because I just ordered a new PC that comes with 11 Pro.
Pro has some OS features the average joe might not need like local group policies, joining an AD and other stuff.
Are these available in the canary builds?
No. Microsoft did it again--getting insiders hyped up about nothing.
PLease as a student deveoper how can i get my windows activated to use windows ??
I hate it when in dark mode..whenever u open anything it flashesh white first and then it turns into dark mode.
Why can't they just implement native dark mode

2:00 So they brought back libraries... OMG!!!
They're still there--just disabled by default.
@@techwithtyler20 they're not disabled, just hidden. Libraries are a key part of windows media player and other applications. It's surprising msoft is making use of them after no one really knew what to do with them in windows 7.
On a folder, if u press right click it works fine, but u press shift+ right click, it's bugged
but if u right click and press shift and drag mouse, it works fine
5:24 You still didn't update Voice Recorder to the new one😂?
i still don't get why it can't restore applications hosted on other servers
Because Windows would have no idea where to get them. It really should be a full backup like macOS Time Machine where apps are also backed up.
yesssssssssss
Which insider version allows for ungrouping taskbar items? I tried Dev but it doesn't show up for me.
A/B testing strikes again! I have no idea why that even exists--it ruins the whole point of being an insider in the first place.
This is why leaves Windows to Linux. Linux is becoming more popular than ever thanks to Windows 11 failure.
Does anyone know if Windows 11 will ever get a redesigned WordPad app?
Since when the OneNote app exist, we won’t do it
@@Dave102693 Cool, more users for my wordpad replecement app 🚎
WordPad is officially dead.
cant sync custom folders in OneDrive, cant make classic control panel consistent with new UI design (it's a mess, some settings are still only accessible through classic control panel, some are in the new configuration menu, other somewhere in between lol), setting up file association is a pain in the neck, there are like 4 ways to create backups, none of them is actually useful... at the end I always end up using third-party software
I heard about it AGES ago, when is the Androids apps support coming???
It's already here for supported hardware (Intel 8th gen or equivalent or later).
Im still waiting for the file explorer having the nice transparent background which almost every other win app has....
They really need to rebuild File Explorer and use the current explorer.exe only to power the things it needs to.
why don't we get the mica on the whole thing like 'files'... doesn't support scaling either? Text is too small in FE.
Because in folders, the rest of the UI is still ancient win32.
I got the update last nigth, but Gallery Mode doesn`t appear..
They really need to get rid of A/B testing...
Not my cup of tea.
Thanks for the video tho, pretty informative!, keep up the good work!
How to get this
Hello, the ALT+D function for selecting the address bar is not working. Can someone help? I tried restarting File Explorer but no use.
Probably removed with the redesign.
XP ~ win11 UI mix up version
I still want the option to change the taskbar's location. Like in windows 10 where you could change the location from bottom to right or left or up. On windows 10 it was so useful but we still dont have it in windows 11
I think file explorer should have the blure effect all over it, not just at the top. That would be a great way to modernize it
They need to rewrite the folder view first. I believe they have already rewritten the navigation pane but haven't rolled it out yet.
I'm still not installing it until they officially support the same vertical orientation taskbar that I have in Windows 10.
