    This is why I love your channel, you try out AND actually run the more budget stuff in a real match unlike some that look through it, fire a handful of round at the range and then review it

    the 18 has a 45Mill elevation and 25 has 31Mil, also on 18 it has 10mil per rotation and 25 has a 18mil per rotation - 3-18x44 preferred

    I have had my 5-25 for awhile now and am really pleased with how it performs. I first looked at the Tract Toric, but it was twice the price. FYI my Strike Eagle sits on a Savage 110 with a 20" Criterion barrel in an MDT LSS-XL chassis. My build was inspired by your 20" build. Love it.

    • @42N8_1

      The Tract Toric is not Chinese made and it uses SHOT glass. It is a different category of scope.

    So this 3-18 would be good on a .308 big game rifle? I'm looking for a new optic for my winchester model 70

    I find 3x is the lowest magnification at which running game can still be safely harvested. I shot wild boars at full speed with a 3 - 12x Zeiss in the past on that lowest magnification setting. 1x is hard to beat though for that particular purpose. As an all around scope this Strike Eagle 3-18x is just perfect. The 5-25x is more a specific toy for playing around long distance target shooting. My Strike Eagle 3-18x is teamed with an Oberndorf Mauser 98 in .416 Taylor and a Premium Douglas barrel.

    I was wondering if you could do a similar in-depth review on the Vortex Venom ? I've heard great things about it, and I believe your expertise and attention to detail would provide invaluable information for those of us looking to invest in a quality optic. Exploring its features, durability, performance, and any potential pros and cons would be incredibly interesting.

    This is my current pick to put on my new rig, but I am a hunter first, adding target to learn how to shoot at extended range. But this rig will have to hunt how useful is the illumination function. I am concerned about losing the fine crosshairs in a brushy environment or at low light.

  • @chadperry4021
    @chadperry4021 Год назад +2

    I bet the ideal rifle for this scope would be a long range hunting/recreational rifle chambered in a laser of a cartridge like 6.8 western, 7 rem mag or 6.5 prc or 300 win mag.

    People wonder how these handle on an AR platform. I have a Venom on my Windham Weaponry R16SFST-308 and it does just fine. I put a round in the exact center of the crosshairs at 100 yards, which was my POA.The Venom is essentially a Strike Eagle without illumination. Also, a few less MOA but the expectation is that it is for long range and you will shoot with a 20 MOA canted rail.

    Might be a good scope for PRS 22... Better view of the Xmas tree at lower magnification? Like x12 or x15? Full magnification reduces the field of view. Sometimes you are panning around looking for the target. A little bit less aberration with a smaller objective. I'm currently looking at the Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18, the Element Titan 3-18 and the Athlon Ares ETR 3-18.

    • @commonsense5709
      @commonsense5709 Год назад

      Athlon Ares ETR is the best Chinese made scope that money can possibly buy out of the 3 you listed and likely to be the most reliable too. The Strike Eagle is the cheapest when you buy them on sale.

    • @richardwalker68
      @richardwalker68 Год назад +1

      @@commonsense5709 I ended up with an Athlon Helos 4-20x50. Nice glass, great turrets, illuminated and a good reticle. It seems to track pretty well. I'm happy with it and recommend it, particularly for rimfire. A little more magnification would be handy for centrefire.

      there are numbers on the turret, just dial it back to the number zero. no need to install the zero stop unless you have a need to bring it back to zero without looking at the scope.
