Fantastic how these wonderful musicians can turn themselves into a well-oiled baroque band - under the inspiring direction of Maestro Egarr.

Wonderful! Maestro Egarr is that rarity, a conductor of Early Music who is actually supremely musical!

As I was watching this wonderful performance and noting how difficult and extensive was the bassoon part, and how beautifully and exactingly it was being performed, I thought to myself that if I were conducting, when the suite was finished I'd immediately point to the bassoonist and invite him to take a solo bow. When Richard Egarr did that (also including the oboists), I felt very gratified for Carsten Wilkening, whom I have seen often in videos of this great orchestra (and I was just a bit proud of myself, I must admit).

Bach wrote this overture to showcase the 2 oboes and the bassoon.

    Bach:
    1.Orchester suite C-Dur BWV 1066 . hr - Sinfonieorchester.
    Richard Egarr.
I must admit to not having heard this piece of music before.
I’ll have to listen again to it as I think you need to hear it a few times to recognise what’s coming up next.
    They’re a wonderful sounding orchestra.
I have also to admit to not being a great fan of Bach, unfortunately.
The orchestra are working their magic to bring this music to an audience who appreciate it.
Beautifully played but I’m not in love with it.
    So sorry 😢
Thank You 🙏 for giving me the opportunity to listen to it again and maybe of enjoying it.

Oh yeah, you're going to need to listen to this Ouverture a bunch of times, and then realize you'll be inclined to listen to this and the subsequent 3 works for life, because Bach is for the duration.

I've not heard a better defined nor better sounding Bach Suite than this, but I'm not sure it captures the spirit or the style of the music. Let's just say that the work didn't engage me either emotionally or aurally as it usually has in the past with other performances.

The dude behind the harpsichord should've done less hand-waving and more reinforcing the continuo with his left hand. There was no kind of consistency in his playing. An orchestra that small with professional players can play without a conductor. I'm gonna go back to the far superior Netherlands Bach Society's interpretation. This isn't even 415 Hz.

I love this synthesise of modern orchestra with Baroque understanding.
You sound like such a generous hearted and cheerful blokey.
Well-placed sympathetic comment is one thing, but I wouldn't be so hung up upon the notion of a single most perfect interpretation.
      Love andrea
