I don’t write many checks anymore but when I do I’ve always made sure that the written amount and the spelled amount take all the space so nothing can be added - was taught this many years ago!
This is extremely sad what's happening in London and dislike the fact as you say, that they're blocking up the e entrance to Buckingham Palace! I read about this on someone's social media post, absolutely awful. I just don't understand how it can be allowed, doesn't sound regulated to me! Yes Neil cash is the best but what you can get is a charge card that has to have money deposited on it and will not allow more to be taken. And of course with cash or card ALWAYS get a receipt!!!!
I’ve heard rickshaws scam their customers all over the world where they have them. It’s terrible😢. There are honest ones, but, I wouldn’t know how to tell the difference😅. Thanks for the heads up Neil, valuable tips!😊
My late mother worked at a bank and taught me decades ago that when writing a cheque, write the word "only" before writing out the dollar amount and where you write the numbers, put a line in front of them. They started here adding numbers to your credit or debit cards at restaurants to the tip on the receipt after you sign it so a $10 tip can be made into a $100 tip, so that same line in front of the numbers of the tip amount prevents them from gaining extra money from you illegally. My mom was a wise woman teaching us these tricks and perhaps it could work on the rickshaw vehicle drivers as well. A big 👋 from deep in the ❤ of Texas and Cheers y'all 😊

I'm afraid this nothing new. I remember when these rickshaw things first took off. They had a bad reputation even then. To everyone in Neil's 'family' I would say, follow Neil's advice and do NOT use these rickshaws.
There was a spate of garages over here sending money to terrorist groups in their home country. I remember one garage where they seemed to want me to hold the reader in a precise position when I was about to key in the number. I paid cash and stayed well clear of that garage. The problem is we have so many people plus our government now supporting so many causes all over the planet officially and unofficially it is becoming very expensive living here. Tourists who will be not aware what a dire dismantled directionless lawless condition the UK is in need to be doubly aware. The few remaining police will be primarily interested in monitoring what you say and photograph and not what is done to you over here.
I think many of our larger cities here in the US are also having more than just difficulties with just about everything! I don’t even go to a Mall near me any more unless I have no choice!!
Wave. What we do when we travel is to get gift cards and use them instead of our regular cards. They are very convenient for taxi's. There is no way for a crook to hit us our real accounts.

I find it outrageous, they can ferry around people in london no trainjng no license ,cabbies pay thrrough the nose for the right to have fare paying passengers same as bus and coach drivers 🤬

These dont seem to he real rickshaws.From Asian history, Rickshaws are long extinct, the driver would run on foot, pulling the passengers in the cab. Next came Trishaws where the driver would cycle in front, pulling the can along.

As you can see from this , we don’t really use cheques anymore. In 2022, cheques accounted for less than half a percent of payments made in the UK
My mother taught me the same thing & it stood me in good stead.
