15:45 this makes a lot of sense, that there's variability. After all we are part of the environments and how strongly symptoms manifest can also have a lot to do with that. So why should genes be any different. Even "just" stress will exacerbate any form of struggle we face, while supportive communities can alleviate them. And within families, the positions and dynamics between family members are NOT the same. I for example observe that my parent and I may both have neurodiversity (I'm diagnosed with ADHD inattentive type). But I also appear to suffer more from it. And then noticed how I'm better when my parent is away for a longer while. I am carrying not only the burden of my own neurodiversity, but also am passed down burdens from my unaware parent, through the power dynamic. All my physical pains and presentations ALSO fluctuate in their severity alongside that dynamic (=_=). I always have struggles, but the variability of what and how much and how severely shows up, is affected by burdens and lack or even disturbance of accommodations I have, when left to myself and my own pace. These are also patterns we can often not simply lose when we leave. In fact trauma can assure that people choose future partners that confirm the trauma. You think the family pattern are not longer relevant, but then you look again and notice that you have never know an alternative way of operation. And your current one doesn't suit your body!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I agree completely about family dynamics and heard someone describe it this way. "No two people are born into the same family." Our pain is impacted by so many variables (including stress of any sort). This is often incorrectly interpreted as "psychosomatic pain" as I described in the September 19, 2024 episode.
Have you ever tried an at-home genetic test? What was your experience like?
