Living Fearlessly in the Last Days | 2 Timothy 1:1-2

This Sunday, May 19 (9am & 10:45am), we will begin our new sermon series through 2 Timothy, Living Fearlessly in the Last Days.
The world sure seems to have gone crazy.
Truth is denied.
Lawlessness has increased.
Deception is everywhere.
It is easy to get fearful...or angry...or cynical.
But God calls us to a different response, to a different mindset.
2 Timothy is Paul's last letter before he is executed by the Roman Empire. He writes to his young disciple and co-worker in ministry, Timothy.
Timothy has to be overwhelmed.
Persecution is increasing. False teachers are cropping up in the church. And Paul, the great apostle, is about to be killed. Soon, the mantle of leadership will be passed on to Timothy. And Timothy isn't so sure he is ready for it.
So Paul encourages him...and reminds him of what really matters in life and in ministry.
These are Paul's last words.
And they are words that we need to hear today...and heed today.
God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Don't be afraid! Be a soldier. Be a servant. Be a student.
And remember that your Savior, Jesus Christ, has conquered the grave...and is coming back soon.
May God open our eyes to His truth and rule over our hearts with His grace and His peace!
