As a child, I used to hate Jayasuriya, Vaas, Aravinda DeSilva and Murali because they used to perform well against India, but during the later stages of their career I loved watching them. I have been to Sri Lanka and have observed that they are very very passionate about cricket. I could see so many of them playing all around Sri Lanka. And in my opinion Sri Lankans are extremely talented otherwise how do you explain such all time greats from such a tiny country. Not to forget Sanga, Jayawardene, and the highly underrated Rangana Herath. Srilankans are born with genuine cricketing talent. We want to see many such great players from our Lankan Brothers.

@@InfiniteVlogs123 Yeah, same here. I keep wondering what happened all of a sudden. Some good players are there, but overall there's a dip in the standard. I like the new left arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama. He bowled well against Bangladesh. May he become as great as Rangana Herath.
Sri Lanka and the West Indies were the two teams I didn't hate when I was a kid. I wanted India to win, but if not them then the Windies, and if not the Windies then the Sri Lankans. With Jayasuriya opening the batting and Vaas opening the bowling there was guaranteed entertainment.
Everyone talks about macgrath..but no-one about Vaas.. such unsung talent...underrated..
He was never underrated. Anybody who plays and loves cricket, knows who Vaas is - a legend!

What a great time to grow up and be a cricket fan in the '90s. Every team had a great fast bowler, and depending on what series was going on I'd be out on the street with my friends imitating Curtly, or Donald, or Wasim, or Vaas (but with my right hand not the left).
The exceptional ball to AB Develiers... Absolutely amazing. Such a smooth melodious action & Vaas's swag in long hair is pure beauty. In the league of left arm pacers, he's the best one in the world after Wasim Akram. Such a legacy for SriLankan cricket !!!
I have always been a huge Vaas admirer. I was always so very worried and anxious when he opened bowling in ODIs again Ganguly and Tendulkar. He was a real threat to both of them. If Vaas was born in England/Australia/New Zealand he would have picked up lot of wickets and would have been regarded as a legend. But in my opinion he is a true legend in any case.

Vaas makes me nostalgic..he was always a great..but was always underrated and underappreciated because of another left hand great in wasim akram..brilliant thinker and a strategic bowler..I esp loved vaas with long hairs in between..he was more lethal in those times..and always a handy batsmen

Vaas was not a person of great pace,He overcame it by his accuracy and swing no doubt he is one of the greatest Sri Lanka had ever produced, but as i said earlier he was not the fastest

Sachin, gangly, peterson, deviller and others. If they come no way close to the bowl and misses you completely, then you should be a top-notch bowler which Vaas is! One more thing which I liked about this video is, how good a keeper Sanga is? He kept wickets for the then unpredictable Murali on every spinning track and he stood close to the stumps for a guy like Vaas who is having such a deceptive swing. Amazing keeper he is. Standing right behind the stumps for a medium pacer has become a thing of a past now

I was most successful in taking wickets and bowling yorkers when I used to immitate his action. I have bowled in Shoaib's and Wasim's actions as well but his was always my favourite action as a kid. And my actual action is very similar to his.
I am his huge fan from Pakistan. He makes me remind of my childhood and my teenage.

What I loved about him was his calm and compose nature after taking the wickets. I've never seen a bowler taking a wicket and keep on running without showing any reactions. It seems like it doesn't make any difference for him... What a bowler! 🙇
I was praying to God, when he was bowling against India. Because he's a magician.. Cool and Calm guy.. There was chance of taking Sachin's wicket at any time.. Coming at number 7-8 in batting and hitting the ball so well. People talk about wasim, but this guy is also champion...

Chaminda vaas is the most underrated bowler in the subcontinent.used to bowl spinner friendly dead tracks and mastered the riverse swing.can handle the bat as well.legend♥️♥️♥️

Murali wouldnt have gotten as many wickets as he did if Vaas wasnt there. Most of the time batsmen had no other option but slog at Murali cause was SPOT ON from the other end❤️ unsung hero to the very definition of the phrase❤️
The first time SL produced a truly world class medium fast bowler. Till then SL fast bowlers were average to good at best.. he was the lone world class bowling operator that SL fans could truly be proud of. supreme accuracy, swing, penetrative and tight.. all on unhelpful sub continent wickets.. vass was an indispensable cog in the SL machine for a long time.. being a left armer helped murals with the footmarks as well apart from keeping things tight and penetrative ...his send off was so dissapointing..SL cricket should have allowed vass to pass waqars wicket tally, which would have done so much to inspire future SL talent.. he deserved much better.. thank you vass.. true unsung hero of world cricket..
Oh...I love this bowler(Chaminda Vaas) the best Sri Lankan seamer ever. I remember how he used to trouble the batsmen with the new ball earlier in the innings. I just love the way he used to bring the ball back-in to the right handed batsmen and get their wickets. He is one of the best seam bowlers ever but underrated

Almost could have been a classical English bowler in that he wasn’t rapid, but nipped it about, pitched it up and tried to swing it. Very good bowler considering his home track not being pace friendly. His action looks like Alan Mullally a bit, however Vass is far better.
